If you love music, this is your destination. Great family campground with a "concert festival" feeling to it. There are music weekends all summer long, Grateful Dead, Phish, Pearl Jam, Alannis and so much more. Only thing that wasn't awesome was the huge heated pool was closed after Labor Day. We have been frequenting TGD campground for the last four years. Our kids have stayed at a ton of campgrounds over the years, and they both agree that TGD is their favorite! There's a lake for kayaking, lots of activities always happening (this weekend we enjoyed crafts, a juggling show, yoga, free hot dog/popcorn party, a donut party, archery, and a photo booth to name a few). It is clean, the people are friendly, and we feel it's a great value considering all of the amazing activities they always have planned. The barn is a super fun place to hang out-not to mention the amazing live music that was there was both nights. Thank you TGD for more memories! read more

Camped a bunch as a kid and figured I wouldn't go camping agains, I am not much of a great outdoorsmen. Went canoeing with college buddies in July and we had a great time but the camping was god awful. Bought a tent so figured I had to try it again so found great divide. This place is very organized and well run, very clean, and everyone was very nice. Enjoyed a really fun weekend there, will be back for sure. read more

Had a great time at the great divide. This place is all hills, great for exercising. They have kayaks on a nice lake for use by the guests and a very nice large heated pool that goes from 3 to 9 feet in depth. Plenty of seating around the pool and a few pop up tents to help with the hot sun. They also offer a pool table, as well as an air hockey table, as well as other games for entertaining the kids. They have many tent sites, as well as numerous new cabins for rent. I rented a small cabin with full kitchen and bathroom, a separate bedroom as well as a sofa bed in the living room which was very comfortable. I call it glamping since I choose to sleep in comfort instead of an uncomfortable tent. Some of the sites are better than others so since we had three houses to choose from we all sat around the fire at night at the nicest house. We had a very nice time with great customer service as well as really nice people working at this facility. I would definitely go there again.r read more

I wish there was a zero option, but I'll give it a rating of 1. This campground is unlike anything I have ever seen before. The campground itself is definitely not kid-friendly, and the atmosphere feels more like a military base. There was hardly any time to enjoy anything because we were constantly busy climbing hills while walking, or confined to our camper while watching out for bears. The owner should go by the name of "Gargamel" because he was far from welcoming in every way. I honestly can't understand how this place has such high reviews unless they are selectively deleting negative feedback because the management is threatening people in different ways. I would advise them to hire an outside management company that can effectively communicate and deal with people and little children. read more

Oh yeah, The Great Divide scores 5 stars! $44 a night for tent camping. Includes water, electric, picnic table, clean firepit, and a very clean gravel area. I want to stress clean, as the site was fairly level with small stones, and not a piece of litter, glass, etc to be seen. We have a large 2 person tent and had plenty of room on our site. The bathrooms were clean and maintained. We saw the housekeeping cart stop numerous times during the day. As the continued reinvestment into the property is obvious, the bathrooms are sure to be next for an update. The grounds are in great condition. The pool looks new and spotless. Tetherball and horseshoe courts are scattered throughout the campground and are well maintained. We enjoyed the half basketball ball court and since the ball bin was stocked we played a few rounds of Around the World. The boats were fun to take out and quickly spin around the small pond. Beware of the pedal boat though- it's broken, takes in water and barely worked. We nearly got stranded in the pond. We had to pedal it backwards to reach shore! They definitely need to remove the pedal boat from the choices. The Barn's downstairs area houses a gameroom with pool table, video games, and what looks to be a party room. It was being painted while we were there and can't wait to see the completed mural on our next trip. Looks like the deck and surrounding grounds of the barn area being developed for additional social areas. On our weekend the campground had a band (pretty good too) and a blacklight themed party in the loft of the barn. It was fun and a really cool event for those who didn't want to sit around the campfire all night. The staff couldn't have been more service driven, including delivering firewood after we called the office on our cell phone. Everything combined equalled an excellent and relaxing weekend. Our entire group enjoyed this campground and am certain we will return. We have already recommended The Great Divide to friends and colleagues. read more

It's comfortable camping. Pricey, but in my opinion, worth every penny. Grounds and amenities are kept in great shape, all things within the camp are available for use. Rules are enforced (I.e cutoff time for pool). It's just a great place to visit with family and friends of all ages. As in ALL. My camping averse elderly parents came with us and had lots of fun! The campground was clean, the lake is a pond and what they call a pond is a swamp, small hiking trails but good family fun, the 11pm noise rule is not adhered to my last 3 days after new guests arrived was aweful partying across the way from new Yorkers then our site was invaded by another family to do yoga while I cooked breakfast 2days in a row... had to play cards di b to scare off the yogies!!!! The pool was nice but often over crowded and limited hours of use. The Lake is for fishing and boating, not swim able. read more

I'm updating my review to The Great Divide here. Three years ago I gave them five stars for an amazing campground in northern New Jersey. I wish I could give them six even seven Stars. we have continued to go there and each season the place gets even better. This season we spent three weekends there and every one of them was fantastic. There are now seriously using themes on their weekends complete with appropriate live music. the entire staff is amazing. I wish I could name some names, but they're all awesome. We especially enjoy the art classes with Tim. This is unique in campgrounds. each weekend they have at least one band playing either at the barn or in the Pavilion. Sometimes they even have 2! Where to start with this campground.... Let's see, from the moment I first made contact with TGD for the reservations, to the moment we left the staff was completely amazing and incredibly accommodating. I can't say enough about Jan and the entire staff here. The campground itself is very well maintained and offers a lot of activities for families. We had a group of 30 people for a cousins' reunion and booked late. They went above and beyond to get us sites close together and accommodate our needs (even though it was their last weekend of the season and one of their busiest). Everything about our stay was top-notch and we all look forward to visiting again. read more

The bottom line is: do not go here if you are looking for peace and quiet. we stayed two nights and partiers in the surrounding campsites kept us awake until 2-3 am both nights. Security was non existent, and we ended up leaving on Sunday utterly exhausted. The camp ground itself is quite nice and there are plenty of activities, and all of the facilities are well cared for, but none of this makes any difference if you can't get enough sleep to have the energy to take advantage of the amenities. its a shame that they tolerate incredibly rude and selfish campers that ruin the experience for everyone around them. read more

We had heard great things about this campground so we decided that we wanted to go there for our first seasonal RV adventure ever. The owner, Carmine, went above and beyond to make sure we could get into our site successfully, at 1am. We had a very rough start to our trip and arrived 5 hours later than we said we would - his guidance and the help of our neighbors at that late hour, gave us a taste of how much this staff care and how wonderful the camp neighborhood is. The crew here is exceptional, the other RV neighbors are warm, friendly and respectful - we feel like this is a home to us after just 4 months here, and because of this we are coming back for next season. I am in the campground 24-7 and see how hard the staff work, and how attentive they are to every detail - and always smiling and friendly. I have visited almost every bathroom on the campsite multiple times as I walk or run through it every day, and they are always clean and inviting to use. I see the way every week tent sites are groomed, cleaned and all the leaves meticulously blown away (the Fall) in advance of the upcoming weekend's guests - it is clear in every bit of care and interaction that Lisa and Carmine (the owners) really are dedicated to the enjoyment and safety of their guests. The grounds are really beautiful - there are some wonderful off-road trails to walk/bike on, different wildlife to see, a beautiful small lake and a lovely and fastidiously clean pool (Summer). I lastly wanted to put in a word about a guest who left a review saying the owner is a racist. It's pretty clear when you read his rant and the response from management that race has nothing to do with the issue at hand - but I just want to confirm for other people reading the reviews that my partner and I are both ethnic and my partner has a super ethnic name - in our interactions with the owners the entire season they are nothing but kind, respectful, engaged and are genuine humanitarians. read more

The grounds are beautiful and so well kept. The sites are very nice and quite spacious. We enjoyed the fire pit with a cooking grate, and the picnic table. The general store has everything you need for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed live music they at the pavilion, but couldn't hear it from our campsite which is good for non-concert goers. We can't wait to return :) read more

Five stars is too low for this campground. This campgrounds staff set the standard for customer service with campgrounds. Here is an example of their great customer service. I called them today to see if they had any spaces available for Labor Day. We are trying to put together a vacation for about about 5 different families. They didn't have any spaces available, but the woman I spoke to took the time to recommend other campgrounds that we could try. Talk about going above and beyond. Another example of great customer service was when we stayed there in June. Our campers electrical cord didn't reach the outlet box. We called up the office and someone brought an extension cord right over. The campground is clean and well maintained. There are a lot of things to do, including free kayak and boat rentals. This is a great campground that is easy to get to from 80. I heavily recommend it. read more

We have been to The Great Divide a handful of times and it always is one of our favorite trips of our camping season! Even this year, with Covid19 being on everyone's mind, you thought of everything. The check-in process was super easy and we loved that everything was emailed to us prior to our stay so we didn't have to think about it when we got there. Your events were safe, clean and fun for the whole family. It was awesome that you offered site delivery, from firewood to ice to everything in between if we didn't feel comfortable shopping in the store. Your staff is wonderful. They are friendly, knowledgeable and such hard workers. The campground is so clean and the sites are very well maintained. We always enjoy your theme weekends and come with 3-4 other families. This is by far one of my favorite campgrounds in NJ! The grounds are meticulously kept and the bathroom are impeccably clean! There are always activities and events going on and the property has some hiking trails and outside games to play by the barn. There are some great tent campsite spots where you can either be apart of a group or feel secluded a little bit off on your own. I looked forward every year to camping here! read more

We just stayed here this past week. It is definitely in the 5 star area but I have to take a few points for bath and shower facilities. However, if you were pulling a trailer that has its own bath and shower facilities this would not be an issue. They aren't bad like unusable, just need some TLC and there are newer owners that you can tell have put lots of money into the place so far. The good: Proximity to NYC & rail Office & other help Great pool Clean laundry room LOTS of kids activities & play barn The ok (NOT BAD, just some improvements): Showers/ bath Gravel had potholes in areas This was our first time to the site and when I called to make a reservation I asked for electric and water. I wound up with electric water and sewer and paid an extra $15 a day. This wasn't a horribly big deal because we had a great site. Everyone we met at the facility from the front office people to the mechanical man who had to help us during one of our days to the neighbors in you joining slots everyone was so kind and wonderful. Of all the campgrounds that we have stayed in I was amazed at the size of the average slip in this facility. This facility is in a more rural area among rolling hills and forests. There were plenty of deer owls bats and other furry animals both on the property and along the drive in. When I say proximity is good for rail in to New York City let me clarify, the rail was about 25 minutes away in Dover and it was a little over an hour drive to the liberty State Park on the New Jersey side. By the way, anyone going to this area I would strongly suggest that you use the New Jersey side port to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The crowds are significantly less and the travel time is shorter a much better experience. I cannot over emphasize how helpful and friendly the staff were at every interaction we had at this facility. Absolutely willing to do whatever it took to make our stay enjoyable. read more

We've stayed here twice so far and plan to return. Our first visit we stayed at a tent site in September. They have a variety of tent, rv, and rentable trailer sites. The tent sites vary in size and tree coverage. The staff is very helpful in choosing the best site when making reservations over the phone. The restrooms are small and rustic, but functional. The showers were warm. Our second time was towards the end of the season and a cold front brought in colder weather than we wanted to tent camp in. We inquired about the trailers available and the staff was helpful in letting us switch out reservation by a day to when a trailer was available. The trailer was clean, stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, a coffee pot, and a gas stove and microwave. The scenery is beautiful, and the campground is family and pet friendly. They have lots of activities for the kids on the weekend. read more

I have stayed here a good handful of times stretching over a little more than ten years. Back then it was called Green Valley Beach, and now as The Great Divide, it has evolved nicely into a modern campground. With New Jersey's restriction on alcohol, it's nice to have a campground with reasonable rates where you can responsibly enjoy a few drinks. This campground rarely has much of a noise problem, and even on holiday weekends the campground doesn't get out of hand like many others do. As someone who used to come to this campground in his 20's with groups of friends, and now returns in my 30's with two small kids, this campground has something for everyone. read more

Yes- their are dramatic rocks that most likely damaged the lowering body effects of my beautiful POS 2011 Scion xB. There are rock land mines at night. I suggest get someone to help navigate from outside of the vehicle, doesn't matter if it's an rv, suv or a compact vehicle. Are the bathrooms like a 5 star hotel? No. But they are clean. There was never a line. Did people party til 12 am? Yes. But we are camping for christ's sake. Now for what is great: we had the best site. I don't want to tell you which site. I want to keep it for myself. We were up above all of the other sites looking down upon the divide. One of the workers at the desk referred to it as her favorite site. When I checked in she asked if I had an SUV- it was a rough dirt road but I could get up it with my xb. Free kyaking. Clean pool. Really helpful and accommodating Staff. 40 mins from my house. 25 mins from the best hiking in the state. I can't think of any reason to camp other places. I grew up 6 miles from here. When I grew up I would have been embarrassed to camp here. There are tons of all sorts of city folk camping all of which were really friendly. Now I guess we are some of the city folk camping where I grew up. I don't care. This place is great. I will be back here every year and I don't care if my Scion xB bottoms out. The tent is packed up. It's our last day (Labor Day). But we are going to the pool and to kyak. If you grew up in Sussex county you should consider this place despite the shame. It's worth the embarrassment. I did see a local business owner here that I have known for years (Barbara). I didn't say hello. I let her enjoy her time with her family. Highly recommended. They are doing a great job with this place. I rode my bike past here a hundred times and never knew it was here. This place is awesome. Don't pay attention to any negative reviews. Just tell them the type of site you want when you reserve. We wanted a site away from everyone. We will be back regularly. read more

We had the best time camping we were with a group ages 3-50 and everyone had an amazing time! I myself am not much of a "roughing it" type of camper so my family (1 child/2adults)rented a trailer it was clean, air conditioned and was absolutely perfect, very cozy. There was a fire pit right outside the trailer and lots of seating provided for sitting around the fire or porch. I brought so many utensils and even my own dish soap but didn't need it, the trailer had everything we needed as far as kitchen supplies. My other family members had tent sites, my mom said the showers there were hot and clean. The pool and main area were easily accessible, we walked and the kids biked everywhere, we didn't need to rent a golf cart but they are available for a fee. The pool is clean and the lifeguards actually pay attention to the pool instead of chatting it up with each other, which is important to a mom with little ones. There are kayaks available and life vests included with no extra fee. There are scheduled activities on the weekends not sure about weekdays as we only went for the weekend but there was yoga, kids crafts, adult crafts and games! We didn't attend any because we entertained ourselves but it was nice to see we had something to do if we wanted to. The staff is very helpful and friendly we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back next year! It was my first time at a campground and I loved it! read more

What a great location. This was my families second tent camping experience and we loved it! The bathrooms were clean, the showers were small but worked for us and had HOT water. The tent sites are spread out and it makes for a great time and privacy. We had our small dog so having some space between the tent sites was important. I also had to use the laundry facilities they were reasonable and worked very well. The staff was great, the pool was wonderful, the whole weekend was a excellent time! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the grounds are extremely clean even the bathrooms and showers. The activities they held the entire weekend made our stay that much more fun. Went to the great divide and was so pleasantly surprised. We had read there were a lot of hills and the sites were small. Not where we were. It was great. The sites were deep. The place was so well groomed. The store was nice and had just what you would need. The pool and lake were beautiful although the pool gets crowded but hey, that is what summer is all about. Everyone was nice, campers and workers alike. I would definitely recommend it. We will also be back. I give The Great Divide five stars!! read more

We had a great time. We stayed two nights. When we first got there, we weren't quite happy with our assigned site, but Kate was amazing and went through all of my options and helped us find a site we loved, down in the divide, the D section. My boys had an amazing time playing on the rocks and cliffs. The pool was very cold, but we still enjoyed hopping in and out and warming up in the sun. We liked the little boats and the playground and we got in a couple games in the game room but two of the games ate our quarters. I just realized I was going to tell the office about that but I forgot, not a big deal. The firewood delivery made my life easier and I appreciated it, I've never been to a campground that did that. The bathrooms and showers were tight but did the job. Overall, very nice and my oldest said he wished we could have stayed longer. read more
