One of the highlights of our stay was the personalized service provided by the innkeepers Irene. This bed and breakfast was very close to where we needed to go. The room is spacious with a nice bathroom attached. Downstairs in the common area is very welcoming. When I came downstairs after a pretty miserable drive where it rained the entire time, we were starving and wondering what might still be open. The owner was chatting with people in the dining room and went through a map and menus of nearby places to try out. Breakfast the next morning is community style where you may be sitting across another guest at your table. Breakfast was delicious and included in house prepared pound cake. They asked if we wanted the meat or vegetarian quiche ahead of time and since we couldnt decide we got both and split both haha. We came up during winter when there was still snow on the ground, and when we showed up it was rainy and dark, but in the light of day next morning we could see that the grounds were beautiful. OMG even my parents stayed out to 1am planning pool, poker, blackjack and shuffleboard in the game room. The wrap around deck was our go to lunch spot with the convenience of being attached to the kitchen and the view of 3 lakes. As the mother of the bride, I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this venue…read more Many of the issues involved the on-site manager, Trisha, who was responsible for overseeing the property and wedding operations. Throughout the weekend, there was a lack of professionalism, communication, and urgency in addressing problems. The guest accommodations had no hot water, plumbing issues, and a toilet that would not flush. When concerns were brought to Trisha's attention, we were met with comments like, "Ugh, this is my life," rather than solutions. The bridal suite was equally disappointing. The water smelled strongly of sulfur, making the tub unusable for the bride and groom on their wedding night. The air conditioning was not working, and although Trisha was informed the night before, it was still not fixed the next morning. At 7:00 a.m. on the wedding day, I texted her to let her know it still wasn't working and received no response. This was a 90+ degree June day, and fifteen women were trying to get ready in the bridal suite without air conditioning. On the morning of her wedding, my daughter was told that dogs were not allowed in the bridal suite, despite us being told during our initial tour that dogs were welcome. After the ceremony, Trisha told the bride and groom that the groomsmen's belongings had been locked away and needed to be collected, pulling them away from their guests. She also told them it was "the worst wedding she had ever hosted," which is something no couple should ever hear on their wedding day. There was also an incident in which Trisha physically grabbed our wedding coordinator's arm, dug her nails into her, and pulled her toward the parking lot. To make matters worse, I discovered an unauthorized $264.84 room charge on my credit card. Most disappointing of all was the complete lack of accountability afterward. We spoke directly with one of the owners during the wedding weekend and were promised a follow-up call the next day. Despite multiple calls and messages from both my husband and me, we never received a response. My family has been in the hospitality industry for many years. We understand that problems can happen. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this venue.

The $$$ on the review is not accurate. When I was a kid it was $100 for a kid to attend a weekend retreat from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. This included a two night stay and all meals and activities. That was thirty years ago. Since then the deal remains the same but the price has only gone up $20. Which doesn't even account for inflation. That is because this place is a MINISTRY first. Aside from all of the wonderful amenities and the things to do like the pool the game room the basketball courts and tennis courts and the beautiful views of the river, there is also the spiritual aspect of the retreat which is so sorely needed among gods people in this very evil time. It's a good place to get a break from the world, regroup, refocus, and rededicate. Come here for the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. Come here to be sharpened as iron sharpens iron. Come here to meet new likeminded Christians who take their faith seriously. Come here to go home with renewed purpose and dedication. Come here to find Jesus. Please pray for this place that they remainn that way, that the leadership would focus on ministry, that they would not allow money to ever become the focus, that they would continue to walk by faith and that the leadership would continue to follow Christ. That made me want just to eat what wasn't on the plates and I tried to eat things that didn't require utensils and got the foam cups at the entrance to the dinning room. The gym was nice and also the swings, I didn't want to swim because there were rumors of a lot of people spitting, farting, and peeing in the water. I hope they add more things to do I also loved the snack bar and they weren't trying to scam with their prices. I hope that next time they scrub everything more thoroughly so I don't have to eat with a fork that has random white spots on it or drink with a cup that has a random black thing and orange thing in it.
