We brought our dog here for three nights for boarding one weekend and upon picking her up she had diarrhea (we thought was from stress) and all four of her feet had wounds in between all her toes. I reached out and asked the owners what this could be from and they said probably from her "running." We made a vet appointment and her feet were all infected and she was prescribed oral and topical antibiotics for three weeks. I have nothing but praise and blessings to bestow on this business. I adopted two young, small male dogs. One in November and the other in December. Right off the bat it was easy to see they had never been trained in any capacity. Even the simple things like sit, stay and down. I read about Gateway, plus a friend of mine who fosters dogs knew about them and asked me to give them a try. Best advice. They spent 2 full weeks at boot camp. When I picked them up I spent an hour or so learning what they learned and how to carry it all over to their home life. My boys slept in a crate inside the owners home the entire two weeks. They were bathed and groomed the morning I picked them up. The owners are fabulous down to earth loving people. I could not be more pleased. This evening I walked my boys on the golf cart path. Within the first two days of having him home we realized he needed a ton of basic obedience work. Greg and Maria allowed us to bring Otis over to spend two weeks with them to help him adjust to being in a home with other dogs and to simply learn basic obedience commands, along with who the leader of his new pack would be. My husband and I were initially looking to get our puppy in a group class, but we were worried about him being around so many other dogs without being fully vaccinated. Also, our pup is a bit high-strung, so we thought he'd get more out of one-on-one in home training than a group class. We found out about Greg from my husband's coworker, and I'm so glad we did. Greg is very patient and thorough and most importantly, didn't seem annoyed that this hypercritical doggie mom had a ton of questions. He's also not one of those trainers who thinks that one way will work for every dog. When we had difficulty keeping out dog's attention when outdoors, Greg showed us other methods until we found one that worked. We were glad to have the handouts to help us remember everything we learned in each training session. I put them up on the fridge so that I could make sure we did our homework each week. Now I refer to them whenever I need reminders of proper technique. Greg was also very good about answering any questions or concerns promptly through email or by phone, even before we started our training sessions. He sent me a list of places where we could take our dog to socialize him when we first contacted him--about 3 weeks before we even started our sessions. Our Beto loved Greg so much that we have decided to board him at Greg's house over the Christmas holiday. I'll hate to be away from him for the holiday, but I feel better knowing that he'll have a vacation of his own at Greg's house, where he'll be just like one of the family. Gateway Dog Training and Greg are phenomenal. My shelter puppy had more than one less than desirable habit. Greg came to my home and gave us one-on-one lessons with homework each week. Greg teaches using reward based reinforcement which was both fun for Maizey and for me to watch her respond. As part of the training, Greg brought his impressively trained labs to help out. Maizey is still a puppy, but she is one who can command attention with discipline rather than pawing! Wow! Greg is wonderful. Bella did board & train with Greg for 10 days. Prior to training with Greg, Bella would jump on people, not respond to most commands, and would constantly demand attention. The change in Bella after 10 days was nothing short of amazing. She listens and seems to enjoy responding to training commands. She is much calmer and no longer demands constant attention. By being a part of Greg's household, Bella learned in a "real world" situation instead of a kennel and we think that has made all the difference. It is obvious that Bella enjoyed her stay in Greg's home. We will be boarding her there again this summer because we know she will be well loved and cared for. I adopted a high strung, sometimes aggressive Dobie/Shepard mix. She did not like men or trust anyone. Greg's way of training was opposite of everything I had done with other dogs.
