Updating my review. Have had a difficult year of dealing with Gateway Dental. This is not quality care. They broke my old retainer that I had forever, so they offered to replace it. However, the replacement was super thin and cheap and broke the first time I wore it. To replace it was $150 per piece. When their cheap replacement broke a SECOND TIME, they charged me again but this time $300 per piece. They said they mixed up my dental chart with another patient for the price the first time. The fact that this office has mixed up my medical records is also deeply concerning to me--how many other times have they mixed up my information or charged me for a patient with the same name? All in all, I'm done paying hundreds of dollars for cheap retainers that continue to break by simply removing them from my teeth. I will not be returning here. read more

I recently moved to Arizona and enrolled in Aetna insurance through my school and found this dental office on the website and it was the best decision in my life to come here for my initial consultation/cleaning! Calling and making an appointment is so easy and staff is super nice and accommodating. Upon checking in, I waited a few minutes before I saw my provider. The hygienist was super nice and sweet - she made sure to let me know what she was doing at all times and did a very thorough job. The dentist was super sweet as well and she actually squeezed me in for a cavity filling which I didn't expect to get the same day so that really saved me time. If you are looking for a new dentist please give this office a try! I am so happy with the service here and will refer my friends to come here! read more

WARNING DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!! I am absolutely appalled and outraged by the treatment my brother's girlfriend received at your office on Saturday, September 13. We referred her because we trusted this practice we thought you would treat her like a human. Instead she was HUMILIATED, BELITTLED, and BULLIED by a member of your staff during what was supposed to be a simple dental cleaning. She left the chair sobbing. She has a complex and painful dental history (braces, childhood facial trauma involving a dog bite) and is extremely diligent about her oral care. She came to your office for a routine cleaning and nothing more. According to her, the hygienist repeatedly made cruel, demeaning comments such as, "Oh my god do you even brush your teeth or floss?" "This looks awful!" "Do you bite your lip? This discoloration is disgusting." These are NOT casual clinical observations, they were a string of vicious, personal attacks delivered in a mocking, humiliating tone to a patient in the chair. When the patient who is clearly emotional tried to tell the hygienist that the comments were hurtful, the hygienist responded with a flippant, dismissive, non apology: "Oh, I'm sorry you THOUGHT that's what I meant." That is not accountability. That is gaslighting. Let me be crystal clear: this was verbal abuse. This was unprofessional conduct. This was bullying from a health care professional toward a patient, a patient we trusted you to protect and care for. It happened in YOUR facility, in your staff's presence, on your watch. There is no acceptable excuse, whether it was the hygienist's "day off" pulled in from another clinic, the last appointment of the day, or any other reason. A workplace that allows employees to speak to patients like this is unsafe and shameful. Because of this incident, my family, who all attend your practice, are now reconsidering whether we ever come back. We feel responsible for bringing someone we love to your office. My brother gifted this patient a professional whitening service from you this year, that gift is now ruined. She does NOT want to return, and we are livid that a place we recommended caused her such distress. I do not want platitudes. I want concrete action and accountability. A health care provider's reputation is built on trust, and your staff just destroyed a relationship we valued. You were recommended to us and we recommended you to someone we love, you have now betrayed that trust. If you care at all about your patients, you will respond with real accountability and change. If you instead shrug this off, we will make sure other potential patients know exactly how your office treated someone who trusted you. Shameful, unprofessional, and cruel. Fix it. *** UPDATE 9/15*** my mom called and the office manager was out, alright that's fine if she's not working that makes sense so she proceeded to just reiterate what she stated in her voicemail and at first the girl was extremely receptive and apologetic and reassuring but once my mom started to mention the unprofessionalism and how that is not okay to ever speak to anyone and they should not be working with people if they're okay speaking like that and this girl needs to be spoken to, almost instantly her mood shifted and tone of voice changed and she started getting super snippy with my mom. so yeah... they seem very receptive about these severe matters!! this isn't your average complaint considering this was absolute bullying to a T and ridiculing someone. let me state once again... NO PATIENT SHOULD EVER, AND I MEAN EVER, LEAVE A DENTISTS CHAIR IN UTTER TEARS FEELING BEYOND OFFENDED, INSULTED, AND INSECURE!!! read more

I chose them because they are open Saturdays, but I continue to use them because of the superlative service that I receive when I go in. So. One of my baseball players had a collision with another player during a scrimmage on a Saturday afternoon. After getting stitches at Dignity on Gilbert and Germain we tried to find a dentist to see for his loose teeth. We called a few and couldn't get seen and my player was worried as he had just came out of braces for 2 years. This place and these people are fantastic. They answered the phone and after hearing the problem said come over and we will squeeze him in. The front office people are fantastic and the Dr. came into the waiting room after reading the CT scan results and said let's have a look with a smile and reassurance for a very nervous young man. Money Hungry Dental office!!!! Trying to over charge me for something that would have taken them 2 secs. I was a dental assistant for 7 years, so I knew exactly what they were doing. After I just got done getting an exam and cleaning, they were still trying to charge me more to take a tooth gem off that could have been taken off during the cleaning. But instead they chose to want to bill me for it because "my insurance doesn't cover". super disappointed, never going there again. read more

I am so glad that I did my research and found this office on Yelp because it was a great experience! I am a Type 1 Diabetic and had not had a teeth cleaning in over a year and a half. I had some diabetes-related concerns so I did a Yelp search and Gateway Dental had great reviews. When I called and spoke with the receptionist, she was very kind and informative. I called a few other places but immediately liked the receptionist's demeanor so I decided to make an appointment. The next day I was able to get in the office! When I arrived I felt very comfortable and the staff did a great job of making me feel that way. I wish I remembered everyone's names but even my X-Ray Tech was extremely friendly and easy to talk to! Susan, my dental hygienist, was phenomenal. She took her time, listened to my concerns, put me at ease. She was wonderful! The dentist, Dr, Barber, was very kind as well. He spoke with me about managing my diabetes and I felt like he really cared about my health which is so important when going to any health care provider! My mom was with me and she was also very impressed by Susan and Dr. Barber. When we left the office, she turned to me and told me that she wants to start going there for her cleanings, too! LOL. The people here are very nice. My wife and the rest of my family seemed to like this place for quarterly cleanings and simple stuff. They do not do a full service here you have to go to a Another facility to get some simple procedures done (ie. root canals). In one particular event I was told I needed Deep cleaning on Both sides of my mouth they completed one then when I went back for the other, because they were overbooked they said I didn't need it on the other side. They also had made a Crown on one side of my mouth. A little while later a small but significant part of the Crown chipped off because it wasn't done correctly. To repair would cost $4000 instead of them taking care of it. Didn't quite agree with this. read more

I no longer go here or call this a trusted dentist. Been going here since 2018. I had an appointment in Feb 2021. They did full on check up & cleaning. I was told by Dr. Powell after getting my exam done I had "boring teeth". That's what exactly came out her mouth. No cavities i asked? She's like nope! Then I get a text from the office the first week of April 2021 saying they are running a special on fillings and asking if I'd like to schedule an appointment with them. I text back saying what cavities? I was told I have boring teeth. She's like you do have two cavities on your lower left side. So how do I from the doctor telling me I have boring teeth the day of my visit to all of the sudden having two cavities? I now consider this office a scam. Beware. read more

Went in for a routine checkup and cleaning, I've never had a cavity or anything before. Was told I had a cavity that needed filling, so I went ahead and had them do it. They used a dremel tool to basically like cut my tooth for some reason, then filled it in. I'm not sure if that is normal or not as I've never had a filling or anything. Anyway, while they were "cutting" my tooth, I heard a pop noise, they stopped and just started filling the tooth. I went home and could see my tooth is now cracked but they tried to kind of cover it up with filling/resin. I figured oh well, they know what they're doing. So I left it because I figured they wouldn't leave a tooth messed up. It's now been a little over a year, my tooth has fully re-cracked and part of it is cracked on both sides, so the tooth moves around and hurts like hell. So, I went to a new dentist and they asked me what the hell I did to my tooth. I told them what happened at my previous visit to a dentist and they were confused on why they did what they did. All my other teeth are perfectly fine and healthy. So now my tooth is cracked in a few places and they actually didn't fill the entire tooth and left a hole that has allowed the tooth to get even worse. So my current dentist said he'd call me back in a few days about options. Might have to get the tooth removed and a fake tooth to replace it. Soooo yeah I wouldn't really recommend Gateway dental. It seems to be super hard to find a reliable dentist. read more

The Doctors and office staff are amazing!! They are all so warm and friendly. Its a great environment. They take time to get to know you personally and I feel like they genuinely care about their patents. When you arrive they get you back pretty quick. You aren't waiting long. Their work has been of top quality, and they are very thorough. We have had no issues with the work that we have had done. Something that I appreciated was that they could make my crown there in the office. I didn't have to wait for them to send it out. Maybe a lot of offices offer that now; I don't know. But, they can do that in house and it's really convenient. My son is in the process of getting braces so we are in monthly, I love that his Dentists is also his orthodontist. Its an added bonus, in my book. It just makes it nice for me and convenient. read more

If I could give this a negative star I would. My wife had a broken tooth and they capped it with an infection. They also replaced a silver filing and left silver still in the tooth. We had to go elsewhere after paying thousands of dollars for terrible work. read more

This is my baby girl's dentist. We've been coming here for the last couple of years and we've always had excellent service. The staff are very chipper and thorough. My daughter doesn't mind going to the dentist, which is a pretty big thing for kids. She looks forward to getting her free toothbrush. for what I don't know because she has the most overly expensive battery operated toothbrush she can have. Plus she gets to pick out a cheesy toy from the toy chest so I'm pretty sure the combination of the 2 is what really makes her day. Due to moves and insurance changes we have had to switch dental offices many times. I've been handed a treatment plan for thousands of dollars (twice in my past, many years apart) then with second opinions found to have minor issues and stains mistaken for cavities. I have learned to shop around for a trustworthy and experienced dentist. Gateway dental has gentle, professional hygienists (thanks, Lisa!) and a friendly, helpful front desk staff. They offer many appointments, sometimes same day for a new patient! I didn't feel rushed during my cleaning that I procrastinated for over 2 years (due to system mistrust) My cleaning was simple, painless and not as stressful as past experiences. Nobody shamed me or made me feel bad about old issues or my procrastination. And, now that my smile is healthy again, I opted to do the lifetime whitening. What a great deal! I should have taken the reviews I glanced at a lot more serious. Very impersonal, my greatest fears came true took forever just for X-rays etc felt embarrassed and uncomfortable by the end. If all you want is a cleaning and have perfect teeth this is a great fit like a fast food dentist and not sure there are any actual doctors nothing big done in house it's feels like a school with hygienists getting involved little as possible. I know I sound negative but it really was that bad I couldn't tell you one name from all that worked on me. Needs to be clear about their services and I personally did not feel my business was wanted. So I will just keep on smiling with my lips closed.. read more

I have been going to Gateway Dental Care since i moved to Arizona. It was hard at first for me to find a new dentist! Im so happy that i found them they have done lots complex procedures that i wouldn't trust with anyone else. While i was pregnant they were very compassionate and worked with me and now that i have had my baby i will be going back to them for the rest of what needs to be done. I have also made Gateway Dental Care as my primary dentist for my children as well their ages are 10 and 12 years of age. The best dentist I've ever been to. This is my 4th visit and I've gotten just as great of service as each time before. The dental hygienists are super friendly and always in a great mood. They'll ask about your life and tell you stories about theirs.. Definitely not like the usual dentists office. Plus, they will leave you with a goodie bag and some great tips for oral health. Christine assisted me today, and I have to say I think she's my favorite.. But they really are all great!
