I lost my retainer. I made an appointment to see Dr. Curtis. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. I was offered an appointment for the same week and quoted a price. When I arrived, there was almost to wait. My tech and I talked about options. She scanned my teeth, which took about two minutes. Then I met Dr. Curtis who was incredibility knowledgeable. He walked me through the best options for me. I also really appreciated that because I said I wasn't interested in braces or cosmetic procedures, there was no attempt to upsell me. I did feel like the procedure space was on the small side--as an adult I'm used to having a bit more privacy. Still, not a big deal. I came back the next day to pick up my new retainer. Easy peasy. I would highly recommend Dr. Curtis to anyone. read more

My oldest child started braces with Dr. Curtis and the whole process was really great. About halfway through his treatment, we moved across town and I decided to get a few quotes from other offices closer to our new house to see if I could save some driving to finish his treatment. I was HORRIFIED at the quotes we got back! They were more than double what we had left to pay at Curtis, and that was just for the last year of braces. So we continued with Dr. Curtis and my son's teeth turned out beautifully. When it was time for my next 2 children to get braces, I again went to some closer offices for quotes, hoping to save myself the drive and again, the quotes were considerably higher than Dr. Curtis. As in, more than $2,000 higher. Later, a hygienist friend mentioned that orthodontists often use the prices of offices close to them to create their own pricing structure which is why certain parts of town are more expensive than others (I just moved to N Mesa). So we're committed to Dr. Curtis for life! Not only can their prices not be beat, but they always get my kids in and out quickly and are super friendly and honest. There was one treatment in particular I was concerned about and didn't know which choice to make for my daughter and Dr. Curtis was very down to earth about it. He told me that if it was his child, he wouldn't bother with the more expensive treatment because the results wouldn't be worth the added cost and inconvenience. It's one thing to wait until you're in your mid-30's to want to make some crazy changes about yourself. You get kind of obsessed with aging gracefully. It's a whole 'nother situation of crazy when you decide to get Braces at 35+ ---- (insert mysterious music) dum dum dum... In comes what I call, the "mid mid-life crisis". Not sure what I was thinking. I looked at my smile after I did a photo-shoot and I said... "Hmmm.. I want to fix my smile". 2 weeks later, I had FULL on teen-aged braces on my teeth. Only a person in the "mid mid-life crisis" could come up with something like this and have it implemented in 2 weeks! So, if you're reading this review and you're over 30, and you are wondering about your own "mid mid-life" crisis, let me tell ya a little about Dr Curtis to help speed you along! ;-) I interviewed several orthodontists, even my regular dentist who also does Invisalign, However, Dr Allen Curtis won me completely over after my consultation with him. I went in for my consultation, they took 3-D images of my teeth and then systematically showed me how he was going to move my teeth. I asked a lot of questions and he answered them and I was comfortable and happy with all the answers. Most importantly, I was comfortable with his timeline for the treatment. See, when you are leaning on door number 40 so hard you can hear the hinges squeak, time is very important. He didn't quote an obnoxiously short period of time or suggest I do damage to my other teeth to get things to work in my timeline. He understands the adult patient's needs and desires. And for that, he won my trust... and my business. The staff? Professional, gentle, knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Curtis is also such a great doctor to visit. Visiting his office is always a WIN-WIN situation!! Dr. Curtis is like the Wizard of Ortho, he has the coolest toys in his office! This office has modern amenities that make me want to live in this office versus visiting it. The free Wi-Fi, iPad in the lobby, video games, the 3-D imaging, and that CRAZY geeked out sound-system! Even his consultation office is awesome! My only "needs improvement" at this point is how well this office works with other offices that are also in on my treatment plan. The two offices must communicate with each other behind the scenes so that my visits to the 2nd dentist is not confusing or wasted time. There were some hiccups there I attributed to Curtis's office. If this improves in the future, I will definitely update I'm still a patient (8 months in), so I'll have to update my review at the end of my treatment. We're off to see the Dentist and The Wizard of Ortho is in the office and IT IS ALL GOOD over here in the mid-life! read more

My family enjoys Curtis! They just remodeled with a more inviting lobby and a TV for the kids to watch something while they wait! More importantly, the staff and Doctor Curtis have always been pleasant and make my 8 yr old feel comfortable even when taking X-rays or having a mouth separator installed on his back molars. I'm really pleased with the staff and Dr. Curtis. My previous orthodontist retired and I needed to replace my broken retainer. The process was quick and easy! They used this cool laser scanner instead of that yucky putty. Also, they used an in-house 3D printer so the turn around time was next day. How cool is that?!? We were trying several orthodontists to see where we would be the most comfortable, both with the office staff/doctors and also scheduling and location-wise. We tried this office because it was close and had good Yelp reviews. I cannot remember the original phone experience except to say they were able to get us in as a new consult rather quickly and had convenient times. When we got there, just before school break, the office was nice and clean/neat and well-decorated for the upcoming holiday. They took us to a room after filling out papers and asking my child to brush teeth with a disposable toothbrush, and we waited for the doctor to come in. Meanwhile, the gal that helped us was chatting and getting paperwork ready. So far, so good, all very pleasant. Then came the weirdness. Dr came in, looked at the xrays with us, explained that they had you tube videos about it but this is what we need to do. Get my child into braces immediately, as this is what is happening with his teeth and here is how braces can help (and they had a little video about it). The Dr was very very smiley...like, a little too smiley, if you get what I mean. After he left, the gal who had stayed in the room the whole time went into our pricing options with us. They had a nice payment plan to go along with our portion of the price after insurance paid, and we would get a discount if we started the very next week on break -- a "school break discount"! I felt rushed and wanted to talk it over with the hubs, so I said I would call back. I called back a couple days later to tell them no thank you at this time, we did not want to proceed. She then asked us if they could follow up with us in 6 mos and I said sure. We started getting emails about their patient activities (sounds fine) but then we got an email in 4 mos time telling us it was time for scheduling our appt soon. I then tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe to all emails (3 times now) and also emailed them and told them they were very pushy and if they couldn't add 6 or perhaps were thinking I was confused and didn't remember when 6 mos would be, then I was right to be creeped out when we were there on the consult. We have since found an honest orthodontist who said that with my child's bone structure, if we were to do braces now, we may have to repeat them again after puberty, so may be best to just monitor and wait for a while. 2 stars for nice office and for ease of getting an appt. I do not believe this office has families' best interest in mind. My opinion, stay away. read more

Lets just get right down to it. I am a mother of 7 and have been through the ortho experience with 4 of my children and my husband. We typically just went to the ortho nearest our home. It is a busy office with long waits and not much personalization but frankly I was a busy mom so out of convenience we continued to go there. I decided to do some shopping around when it came time for kid #5 to get braces. I had some questions so I called a few ortho offices to interview them. I was surprised to get a personal call back from Dr Curtis. (Who does that??!!) He answered all my questions and we decided to give him a try. I'm so mad at myself for not finding him sooner. It has been an AWESOME experience and we will never go anywhere else for our orthodontic needs. The staff is very friendly and Dr Curtis does the funnest things for his patients. Check them out! I am an adult so my circumstances were slightly different than that of the average youth. I had specific needs and a time frame that we needed to agree on before I started. Brief history: I had braces as a child, actually from his dad Dr David Curtis, and like many young immature youth, I was "too cool" for retainers! Over 18-20 years my teeth adjusted slightly. You wouldn't have noticed if you saw me, but I could tell. It bothered me and being the hypochondria that I am, I was imagining how the shifting would continue and I would soon look like I did before I ever had braces. So when I found out that I would be moving in 6 months out of state I knew I needed to take swift action. I had previously met with Dr Alan Curtis and we had discussed my concerns. Since I had a time limit I opted to go with traditional braces. Ceramic (the clear ones) on top and metal on bottom. The office made me feel very comfortable and treated me like an adult. (I know that seems obvious but when you see kids all day I could see how it would be easy to forget.) Treatment: He saw me every 1.5-3 weeks (work schedule permitting) and was flexible with my needs. Result: I am SO happy!! He achieved the goals we set and in the time I needed. Start to finish was just UNDER 6 months! I went here to fix my lower bonded retainer that had come off my teeth. They put on so much glue that I had to use a knife to scrape it away so I could continue using a threader to floss when I got home. In fact it was so much glue that I now have a slight lisp. The glue was also on my gums and on teeth not even connected to the retainer. I was swallowing bits of glue for the whole day after I got it "fixed." I don't know what they're like as a long-term orthodontist for braces, but I would not recommend going to them for repairs. I give two stars because at least they were nice. But to be honest I'd prefer to go somewhere where they're rude but do a better job. read more

The women who run this office are very professional. Dr. Curtis is not. Took my kid here to get braces and was derogatory and talks down to my kid and me about the treatment plan like we're dumb. He tried to supersede the pre-set plan of the oral surgeon and prosthodontist like he knew better than the oral surgeon. He over stepped and was rude. I've seen him interact with his staff and is not genuine or kind with staff or customers. This probably why he has a huge team of friendly, helpful women running things - to cover the fact that he's a pompous little you know what who thinks he's above treating people with compassion and kindness. read more

When I lost my retainer after moving to Arizona, I called around to get quotes on a replacement retainer. Curtis Orthodontics was the cheapest AND their price included extra adjustment appointments in order to make sure it fit properly. I was impressed. It has been five years now and I continue to use Curtis Orthodontics whenever I have an orthodontic need. Dr. Curtis is an excellent orthodontist. Being new to Arizona I didn't have any local friends or family to recommend orthodontic care. Curtis Orthodontics happened to be located near my office so I researched reviews and it seemed like it may be one option to consider. I went in for a consult (also went to two other places) and was sold. I am currently 7 months into treatment and extremely pleased! The staff is so friendly and warm! I do not even have a favorite assistant because they've all been so great and Dr. Curtis is always upbeat, positive, friendly and thorough when explaining the treatment progress and next steps. Honestly could not be happier! We are all busy people and this office gets that! Rhiannon kept in touch with me by text and email so that we could get the process started for my sons braces! If she stopped contacting me; my son would not be in his braces still! Dealing with 3 dental insurance plans was a pain in the bum but with Rhiannon it was not an issue at all so it took that stress off of me . She made it happen and we couldn't be happier. My son is also in high school sports in Scottsdale so appointments are difficult to schedule usually. Not here. We feel like family in a very busy office. LOVED IT!!!!!! I am 30 years old, work and study full time. I have no time to waste. This place is one of the best running businesses I came across. Always on time, always friendly, always professional, and Dr Curtis is definitely a perfectionist. I truly enjoyed his humor and very clear explanation of what he was doing the entire time. His staff is well mannered, and very kind. My appointments never took more then 20 minutes, and were always arranged around my busy schedule. Mille at the front desk is a great person to work with, and stayed on top of my finances during my year treatment.
