Best schnitzel I've ever had. Through my travels, I've never shied away from fried pork or fried chicken or fried anything really, but schnitzel has always held a special place in my heart for how it feels, tastes, and pairs with cabbage and potatoes and beer. Trifecta. The schnitzel here is generous to say the least and it comes with a side "salad" which is actually a plate of slivered cabbage, sliced potatoes, pickles, and some butter leaf lettuce on top for good measure. The dressing they use for this salad is a force to be reckoned with and I absolutely love it. I make it a point to eat here every time I fly in and out since I stay at the Hein Hotel down the street after I land and before flying home. The outdoor patio seating is ample and open but to do be aware that smoking is allowed so that might turn you off. Indoor seating is comfortable and also plentiful. Bathrooms are clean. Serice is prompt. Beers are wonderful. Prices are incomparable for such quality. I will say that the mixed grilled plate (pork, turkey, bacon, ribs) was not very good and if anything, I'd just say order the ribs if you want something of that nature. Get the schnitzel. Get the dumpling soup. Get the beer (Gosser is not something I can find in OC and it's wonderful). Enjoy the patio on a sunny day. Walk off your meal through the park just behind the restaurant. Enjoy.

However, my personal favorite restaurant for authentic Austrian cuisine is Schitzelwirt! They have an exceptional Biergarten in the front of the restaurant or inside dining if you want a more romantic setting. I recommend enjoying their traditional Wiener Schnitzel with Herb Potatoes. Aperol Spritz & local Sturm Wine pairs nicely with this meal. The service was excellent! They are able to speak English but restaurants are the best place to try using your Deutsch and the staff will be very pleased and create laughs around the table. Also, this restaurant isn't very close to an U-Bahn station so I recommend using a taxi or Uber to arrive and continue your night.

The restaurant is big with lots of seating available and prices are reasonable as well. We even saw a photo of Ed Shireen on the wall during our time there indicating that he had eaten at the restaurant before! Menus are in English and German and the staff are able to communicate in English fluently. They also have some outdoor seating as well. We both ordered the Wiener Schnitzel. Sides are separate so I ordered a salad while my partner ordered a side of fries. The salad was tart and fresh. The schnitzel portion was huge! We got 2 big pieces of schnitzel each on the plate. I tried to finish my plate as best as I could but it was difficult. The coating on the schnitzel was crispy and just the perfect thickness where the pork meat was pounded to the perfect thickness. Overall, a great place to grab some schnitzel in Vienna!

Food dreams can be restored in future nights to come. I guess I just did not care what anyone thought. I took pics anyway. I just thought I was being sensitive to other patrons. Let's just say I tried to not be too obnoxious about it. So, yes I did consume with my camera first! I can say with absolute certainty, that this was our most perfect and intimate dining experience in Vienna. It was just lunch! The surrounding patrons appeared to be locals with huge platters of piping hot Wienerschnitzel, succulent looking meat falling off the bone....oh my, I could go on and on. Lord help me, that was a great experience. I ordered an exquisite Riesling that was perfect with my meal. I ordered the Goose Soup to start with. I shake my head now in disbelief of how perfect this soup was and LUSCIOUS. It had this potato dumpling in the middle that absorbed the creamy broth with every single bite. I was sad to see the dumpling and soup go away as I savored every spoonful. My husband had a potato soup that included mushrooms and he was pretty much freaking out about his soup as much as I was (in his own, subdued, calm manner....opposite mine!). Then Meine Damen und Herren. We have the Weinerschnitzel. Oh my goodness. We split the massive and simply prepared veal weinerschnitzel with the lemon wedge squeezing the only and perfect seasoning you need for this deliciousness in front of you. I cannot even express the greatness of the potato salad that accompanies. Smooth and creamy mustardy goodness. I would seek out this restaurant again. If every authentic Keller type dining experience is this good in Vienna; I am in big trouble!

It had an extremely authentic feel (full of old guys drinking beer, which I took as a good sign). I got the goose soup, which was incredible. My friend got the goose dumplings and likewise thought they were exceptional. They were beautifully plated, and the meat was very tender. We finished off with some delicious apple strudel. Our waiter spoke enough English to get by with us, and they had an English menu available.

It's a quaint place: an old-fashioned building, eclectic décor, candlelight, pewter serving platters. We ordered beers, served in tall steins, and plates of schnitzel that the menu said was served with "a potpourri of salads". The schnitzel was AMAZING. It's one of the best meals I had in Europe (and we dined at Michelin star restaurants on our trip). The potato, vegetable, and condiment accompaniments were perfectly paired. The Austrian beer we tried, Edelweiss, was great. Note - the furniture is old. If you're not a bumbling boor, this won't be a problem, but one annoying person in our group thought he'd be cute by dramatically falling back in his chair when I asked him to move so I could take a picture of the empty dining room. The chair wobbled and he thought it was buckling, so he slammed his knees up under the table, knocking over his tall, full beer. I was so embarrassed that the staff had to bring a towel to mop it up, and they declined to replace it for free as his stupidity caused the spill (not that I blame them one bit). He didn't want to add another charge to the bill, so he got to sit and watch us devour that delicious schnitzel with our beers as he stared at an empty glass. Schnitzel with a side of schaedenfreude.

For example, the dining rooms don't have electricity - just candlelight in the evening or the natural light coming through a stained glass skylight during the day. There are many variations including their own unique cornflake encrusted rolled schnitzel called the Concordia Super Schnitzel. With its lentil, salami, and cheese filling, it's very tasty. Try it! And for dessert - don't miss the Topfen Palatschinken! I don't really know how to translate this into English but don't worry - your taste buds will!! So if you are looking for a unique dining experience in Vienna, put the Concordia Schlössl on your list.
