My wife and I have been wanting to go here for the longest time. We love the beach at Sandy Hook and the Carton brewery. We finally made it there today only to be rudely turned away. We walked in with our 1 year old son in a stroller and the hostess told us they don't have any highchairs. We said that was no problem as we wanted to leave him in the stroller anyways. (As he would likely nap). The hostess said she didn't know where to seat us and went to ask the manager. After talking to the manager she came back and told us that they do not allow strollers. So basically if you have a family avoid this place like the plague. Rude and not family friendly. read more

Food was pretty decent tasting, but a bit over priced. Probably the most uncomfortable dining experience of my life. The bartender was unengaging and wouldn't even look us in the eye. We just came off of the beach and needed a beer. The beer we wanted was out of stock and it seemed like the employees/ owners just sat in the corner laughing and drinking with each other. I've been here a couple times to eat. The meatballs are spectacular and in general they have a good menu and beer selection. They have a ton of beers for all those beer aficionados out there. They generally have sports TV and one movie. I love that they throw a movie up there on one TV and give you something different to stare at. read more

Great food. The sushi tuna pizza was remarkable and could easy have gotten two of them for my dinner. The caesar salad was different with the dressing being very lemony, it was pretty good. My dad got the gaslight burger which looked very appetizing, and I tried it and it was delicious. Very fresh. The food might have been a little overpriced but good quality. The atmosphere and decor of the gaslight is a good setting for a bar restaurant with many different beers. The service and the barely overpriced food make this a 4 star but would highly recommend it and totally would go back! read more

Great addition to Atlantic Highlands. Very innovative menu that elevates "Pub Grub" to a higher level. Highly recommend the generous portion of PEI Mussels appetizer. I also like the chef's take on chicken and waffles. My husband enjoyed the lamb burger. Would've given 5 stars, but the noise level and crowded seating for the tables for two were my only complaints. Beer selection is quite good. Prices are Manhattan, but they are in Atlantic highlands. $14 for a carton beer? Come on they are right down the street. $13 for am ommegang 3 philosophers? My wife asked to try a taste before ordering and the waiter said his manager wouldn't allow it. I've never had someone refuse a taste of a draft. Also don't go there with kids, there is no kids menu. We were there twice in December. I like craft beer and want to love this place, but sadly it is dead to me. read more

Beware they do not allow any children. Spent a lot of money at this place to walk in here in the afternoon that babies with strollers and car seats are not aloud. Great food, beer and service but was insulted. They should put a sign out in front stating that they do not allow kids so we didn't waste a half hour getting the kids in and out. I would give 2.5 stars if it was an option. I have been to this place twice in the last month. Great beer selection. Good wings. Mediocre service (including some lackluster bartending). For example, my husband and I went on a rainy Thursday afternoon. We love beer and were hoping the bartender could make some recommendations. Unfortunately, he did not seem to know anything about beer, and lamented about the "stupidity and extra work" that serving flights of beer includes (which was odd because Gaslight does not even offer flights of beer). I also tried the po' boy. It was dry and under seasoned. The fries were delicious though. Overall - i would still come here for a happy hour but be ready to just explore the beer on your own, and order traditional bar food rather than some of the other things on the menu. read more

Founders KBS on draft was the highlight. Cauliflower and Oxtail were underwhelming. Oxtail would have been better with a sour cream horseradish sauce? Burger with bacon and fried onions lacked seasoning. Shrimp tacos needed seasoning as well. Street corn was just descent corn. Have tried to make this restaurant work. However, it is on a complete downhill slide which is unfortunate. Constant change of the staff, but menu NEVER changes (and food is only meh at best), and bartenders are subpar and largely unfriendly. Came here with a group of friends last week and found the woman tending bar to be especially aggressive and pushy on drinks - like if I didn't order another drink within 3 minutes of finishing my last I was just taking up valuable tips for her...? Maybe just inexperience? Though she claimed to be a manager. Its like this place takes for granted its location, with little to no effort in the quality of food or relations with the patrons. I'm not one for usually writing reviews but I love the atmosphere of this place. The beer selection here is always amazing! 30 local craft beers on tap ranging from $6-9. I wish they served flights of beer to be able to sample them all. I love the fried cheese appetizer and the Burgers! The fish here is also always very fresh and tasty. Ps you have to try the chocolate pecan pie worth every calorie. The staff seems engaging and they work well together as a team. read more

The food here is very good and different and the beer selection is always incredible. Staff is attentive and friendly. The only problem I have with this place is that they'll close randomly. I've tried going at 10 on a Saturday and they're closed. Or I've been in there and they put up all the chairs at 9:30 to try to get you to leave. Seems to me like they don't care if they make money or not. But if it's open, it always good. Just make sure you go early. read more

I can't seem to understand the negative comments about the service here. My server was attentive, friendly, and knowledge. I had the tacos with street corn which was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend had he chicken and waffles at the recommendation of a friend and she was very glad she listened. The beer selection is solid with a nice variety of ales but only a bad one porter which was a little disappointing. Overall though I had a great time, great food, and great service. read more

I went back to the Gaslight a year+ later after having a bad experience with a server there and sat at the bar with my friend and the bartender gave us menus as we were deciding what beer to order the same server Alley came up to me at the bar and started a fight with me and told us we had to leave. Very good food. Amazing waitress. Bartender was horrible!!! I was there with 10 friends and we were having a great time. Eating. Drinking. Laughing. Not bothering anybody. Actually enjoying ourselves... and then the bartender came over and asked my friend to "not curse". I'm sorry. What?!? We're 40 something years old having fun and laughing. Loved this little spot. The craft beer selection was great, lot of different variety than most local spots. Neshaminy Creek and Schlafly on the menu the night we were there. Small menu but everything we had was very tasty. The burger was juicy and delicious, great thick cut, smoky bacon topping it off. Also tried the fish and chips and also very good, nice batter on the fish. Service was great. Our server sold me on Schlafly's pumpkin beer. While I wasn't ready to start drinking pumpkin beers yet this season, I am very happy I did, fantastic fall pumpkin beer. Can't wait to go back to this little spot. read more

Had a great day at Sandy Hook with my husband. We decided to end the day at The Deck but they had a 45 minute wait. We are not from this area but we thought the outside of Gaslight looked interesting and were pleasantly surprised to see it was a brew pub. We sat at the bar and I immediately got a bad vibe from the bartender whose name is Allie. She didn't even give us a glance or a welcome as she threw the menus on the bar in front of us. This put me on radar with her. I then tried to ask her for a sample beer and she abruptly and rudely said not yet! As my husband and I were looking over the menu he asked me if I wanted to get something to eat. Allie was in front of us and assumed that we were talking about her. She looked at us and said "what are you saying?"!!!!! At this point I stopped myself from going at her with everything I had! This is how angry she made me and my husband! She ruined, just momentarily, a great day at the shore for us. She is a rude and it seems a very unhappy individual and she takes it out on others. I am contacting the owner of this restaurant because as I view other reviews on Yelp there are many other customers who have had this experience with her! Needless to say The Deck was packed and Gaslight had approximately 10 people. This says way too plenty about this establishment that did not seem to have one employee over the age of 25. The owner should take a look at this situation and employ pleasant, friendly, mature and knowledgeable people. I will continue this review on every site there is along with a complaint to the owner and the chamber of commerce for Atlantic Highlands. My husband and I went to this place on 8/3 for lunch around 12:30 PM there were very few people there. Before you place your order a large reused bottle of cold water is placed on the table. No problems there. My husband ordered the stuffed artichoke appetizer and I order the Gaslight Burger (requested it to be cooked medium) Our orders came and the server asked if we wanted salt and pepper, we said yes. She comes back with a large pepper mill that only she can administer, I told her I was still waiting for the salt, well I guess this place has no salt shakers because she brought over salt in a shot glass with a small bar spoon inside and I think they only had one of those too. The burger came with fries which were greasy and soggy. I took one bite into the burger and this thing was very rare. I asked the server if she thought this was considered medium? She said that she did. But I say no. I had to return it for a refry. The good thing about returning it was that I guess the fries were kept under a heat source while the burger was re-cooking, because they were better when they came back. There was also a strange smell in the place that I just couldn't figure out what it was. Needless to say. With all the restaurants surrounding Gaslight they need to step up their game and put a sign on the place. Don't think I'll be back. read more
