As you'd expect, most game stores attract a certain demographic of people that often have superiority complexes within their hobby, so you end up with lots of the older guys being condescending, rude, arrogant, and generally unlikable about their children's card games at events like Friday Night Magic (such as community all-star Jeff H). Also a lot of them smell really bad, it's becoming a serious issue at larger events. The 40K community is fantastic, though and so is the D&D and other misc games. Great store, highly recommend.

But with their rising cost for pre-releases and the insane low balling they have given me when asking for trade ins I have been going to other stores more now especially since their move into Northridge. This is a great place to play, especially when your bringing your own deck but any limited format is a higher price than average. We shouldn't let these stores normalize these prices. I can only speak on MTG pricing and trades I have no idea if this is the same for Pokemon and Lorcana etc. I do build Gunpla and their Gunpla pricing is pretty fair but I feel like the Gunpla is really just an afterthought at this store and the sets they have on display are not anything to write home about. I don't remember seeing them selling a bunch of tools to help builders step up their building either. I would much rather buy from a Hobby Shop that's actually dedicated to the craft.

Something fun and special. They walked into this shop, and the man working there immediately barked at my daughter that she wasn't allowed in without shoes. To be clear, she had just come from Sky Zone Thousand Oaks and was still wearing her gripper socks, with her shoes literally in her hand. So yes, totally fair rule--but the delivery was unnecessary. Instead of just kindly asking her to put her shoes on, he was abrupt and harsh enough that she looked like she was about to cry. That was enough for them--they turned around and left without buying anything. It's a shame, because places like this should be encouraging kids to enjoy the hobby, not making them feel unwelcome over something that could have been handled in two seconds with a little kindness. Bad service and poor communication…read more I've been trying to catalogue my MTG collection lately. I drove 40 min to get to this shop because they have a machine that scans your cards. I paid the shop to rent the machine and waited for 2 hours. Then the staff told me "We made a mistake setting this up. We can't give you the scanned info, but leave your cards behind and your email address, and we can send them over. You'll just need to scan this thing we send you." I was uncomfortable leaving my cards behind because they're important to me. But I didn't want to walk away empty-handed. So I decided to trust them and I left my cards behind. I didn't hear anything for 4 days. I had to call them and they said "Oh the employee you were talking to got sick. If you want to pick up your cards you can do that though." I asked "How about scanning my cards?" and they said "We'll message the sick employee and call you back to let you know what he says". I waited 3 more days and they didn't contact me at all. I realized they weren't going to reach out to me to resolve the issue, so I had to drive down to the store to demand my cards back. I don't know who the person running the back of the shop is. Maybe the manager. Maybe the owner. All I knew is that they had context on the whole situation and knew that I had returned to get my cards. They didn't bother to come over to talk to me. They didn't even give me eye contact. They didn't make even a single attempt at improving the situation. Not even an offer for store credit. Not even a sorry. They just shrugged and yelled across the room "machine's broken". Then they went back to puttering around and left another employee to deal with me. This other employee had no context on the situation. All she could do was hand me a cash refund and give me a confused "Sorry...?" I was treated like I was an annoyance. Someone who'd go away eventually if you ignored them. Not a respected customer who just wanted to do business. I'm not mad that the machine was allegedly broken. I'm only slightly mad that the employees aren't trained on how to use the machine. I'm frustrated that I paid for a service and they didn't bother seeing the job through to the end. They didn't communicate when they decided to give up. I trusted them with my personal card collection and they betrayed that trust. I don't even know if I have all my cards back, but I'll never know. Save yourself the stress.

Went in for Pokemon singles. They have a system where you search cards on a tablet that has pricing…read moreand condition. They were adamant that you use the system to even take a look at cards. There were a couple employees available and I asked to see a couple cards but they insisted I type it into the system, select all the cards I'm interested in, then select check out, and THEN an employee would gather the cards for me to view. The first couple of cards I tried to type in were not found in the system but were in the display case. The employee suggested I type the card number (e.g. 2/108) and that did not work either. Finally I found a card I liked in the system but when I looked up that particular card, it appeared to have 2 versions, both near mint but different prices. When asked about the difference in prices, the person behind the counter took 10 minutes to research the cards and change the prices to even higher than originally listed - stating there was only 1 version of the card and they were mislabeled in the system. At this point, he finally showed me the cards and they were objectively not near mint. I wanted to get a closer look to see how played they were but they would not let me see the card outside the sleeve even when I requested that they take it out themselves if they were scared I would damage the card. He then again took the time to inspect the cards himself and correct the listed condition of the cards in their system while he had me wait. I asked if they would honor the original listed price from when I walked in but they said no. With that, and my not being able to make my own, closer inspection on the condition, I ended up not buying anything since I had no baseline to go off to see if it was worth buying for myself. Even without making a purchase, it was an awkward, uncomfortable shopping experience. The sealed product was comparatively much higher than the current market prices. There is a decent selection of singles but their tablet system was misleading and inconsistent. The selections were not good enough to entice me to come back. Be careful in your own price checking when coming to this place.

He patiently waited for 15 min and when we got to the cashier to pay out of excitement my son tossed the very small stuffed porcupine on the counter (with a super big smile and excited) and the lady grabbed the toy and threw it across the store screaming "DO NOT THROW SHIT AT ME". We all froze. Completely in shock to her reaction. I had never experienced such behavior my son was on the verge of tears so I very politely said actually we're ok and started walking out. She continued screaming "alright adios, don't come back" and very loudly telling everyone at the store "I don't like people throwing shit at me". All while kids are listening. It's been 2 weeks and my son still asks "why was that lady so angry at me". I made this post and she somehow deleted it. I will forever remember this encounter. There's no reason why anyone should support this business.
