Where can you get into a baseball game for $10, buy Blue Moon on tap for $5, or $2 domestic drafts and various themed events (ie: hockey theme w/ special blackhawks appearances) all in one?? AT THE GARY SOUTHSHORE RAILCATS GAME!!! I LOVE going to RailCats games. They remind me of going to a White Sox or Cubs game with a smaller stadium and better prices. There are a lot of free giveaways like t shirts, towels, autographs and a bunch of other things I can't even think of. Rusty the RailCat Mascot is a lot of fun and very interactive with the crowds. I can't tell you how much fun these game are, you just have to come and find out for yourself! Also, I just rented a suite for my birthday party. It was all you can eat/ drink(beer/pop), tickets and more for around $40 a person!! Very reasonable for an awesome time!

Had a great time, very entertaining, $2 brews, close free parking, staff is courteous and willing to help and listen! Got a free towel, keep up the good work!! Hope to attend again or see the Cats in Joliet or Schaumberg! Finally, I really enjoyed the PA announcer, has some style and isn't the basic PA voice, makes the game more enjoyable!!

I know Gary can be a scary place but the stadium is a beautiful, safe park. The only way I'll go is by car and by using the expressways. Go to I65 North and that will let you off a 1/2 mile away from the stadium, and it's a straight shot. The park is next to the park and there are tons of cops around the parking lot and inside the stadium. I've been going to the games over about 7 years and there has never been any issues during the game. I love that tickets are cheap and there isn't a bad seat in the place. This is a stadium to take kids who are into baseball. There are a ton of places for children to play. The mascots are all over the place taking photos and having fun with everyone and the players are approachable before the game. Most will take the time to give autographs and pictures with anyone. The biggest pain about this place is all the drunks during thirsty Thursdays. They can kind of ruin the game, however, it's easy to get up and move somewhere else.

Came here on a whim and a Groupon on Memorial Weekend. This was my first minor league game ever and what a fun stadium to check out. Just a quick hop over the state line and just right off 90 the stadium is convenient to get to. The Groupon gave us a chance to get two tickets for $8 and it came with $5 worth in concession cash. The fact that normally seats don't cost more than $10 should be a draw anyway. The stadium is so family friendly and for the kid at heart so many things to do. The seats are so close to the field there isn't a bad seat in the house. It is occasionally exciting to avoid foul balls because of the lack of netting. There are concessions galore ranging from the typical burgers and pizza slices to chicken taco bowls and funnel cakes. Don't ever worry about your kids getting bored. The mascots, especially Rusty interacted with the crowd and got the kids all riled up. There are stations catering to kids all around the perimeter of the park from the arcade, to the bunjee jumping, blow up batting cage, and playground. Don't forget about the activities catered to them during the game like the kid parade that allows kids to run across the field during the 7th inning stretch. Loved my visit, it brought out the kid in me.

I'd always passed the place hopping off of the skyway from Chicago but always thought it looked like a creepy, empty place that could be the scene for a scary movie. The place actually is bigger and nicer on the inside than I thought. Held our graduation well and there was more than enough room for friends and family. Parking was a bit of a hassle but with an event like graduation, what's to be expected? We got ushered out of there quickly when it ended. They didn't want the rift raft tearing down the last recognizable building in the city. *shrug*

All the big names/concert come here when visiting Gary. The city host their large events here, like MLK, Jr day. Overall the shows here are good quality for the city and the surrounding areas. However, I have also seen the Genesis Center used for major shows, such as the Ms. USA pageants that Trump brought to the city in the early 00's, which was top quality. So the Genesis Center can do really great shows, as the place has been kept up mainly due to the use of the Steelcats team. Yes, you are coming to Gary, IN for entertainment. However, it does not mean that you will miss out on receiving a top ranked experience due to the location. The Genesis Center is more than able to provide a quality show.

Drink prices here are through the roof (which is to be expected but still kinda annoying). I paid $36 for 2 cans of modelos. Most sections had no security so there were many people who kept seat hoping. It was mainly an issue for people who had front row seats since people would sneak into your spot if you left to use the restroom, to the bar, etc.. they'd move out of your spot once you returned but it's still annoying to have to repetitively do that if you need to leave for a short period of time. Overall it's not a bad arena.

There wasn't much direction on which line to stand in -- some lines were obvious, but there was also a long line off to the side with zero explanation. That mystery line? Turns out it's for bag check. My crossover bag was very, very, very slightly oversized (like... come on ), and I had to leave the main line, check my bag in a locker, get a code, then get back in the main line again. Of course, this also meant waiting again after the game to retrieve it. Super inconvenient. Inside, the arena is pretty standard, just smaller. I went to see the Chicago vs. Dallas WNBA game -- I had literally just landed in Chicago and was looking for something to do that night. I mainly went to see Angel Reese, but honestly, I wasn't super impressed. Arike Ogunbowale, though? That girl can HOOP. She definitely caught my eye. I'm from Texas, so I found myself cheering for both the Dallas Wings and Angel Reese... somehow that math still worked. Overall, decent arena experience, but clearer signage and a little grace with bag sizes would go a long way. I didn't eat any arena food because I planned to go to Portillo's after the game.

Neat baseball venue in the south suburbs. We have been here to see the Windy City Thunderbolts play and various super-sectionals for the Illinois State High School association. Always a fun place and very clean. Good security too. Seats 3,200 in this minor league field...currently home to the Frontier League Thunderbolts. When it is the Thunderbolts you get reasonably priced hot dogs and beer. You have to pay for parking - but come on, it is only $2.00 per car. Tickets for the games are just $10.00 and you can reserve your seats online. They have some sort of event between each inning - like T-shirt launches and the like. The whole organization makes for a fun night of baseball. No booze for the high school events. But IHSA has been scheduling the super-sectionals here for the last few years. Great venue for a high school game. Give this place a try one day. The other Frontier League field in the area is Silver Cross Field in Joliet - it seats more patrons but is not as close to the action...it is set up more like a professional baseball park. Standard Bank seats fewer patrons but the seating is closer to the action. Either way make sure to give this one a try this summer - you'll be glad you did.
