Our seats were an amazing view of first base and there were a variety of crowd engagement activities. Some of the best stadium food can be found there too. Usually I get nachos, but I switched it up this time by going to Lucky's for the Gochujang Bubble Waffle. It was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet and well worth the price. Later on I grabbed a margarita that came in a cute souvenir cup. It was fun to drink and helped keep me cool. I look forward to attending more Sox games in the future!

Being a cards fan, I'm super happy I got to catch them play the cubbies on the Friday before 4th of July. If you remember correctly, the cards beat the cubs by 16 runs, but I digress. Wrigleyville is an amazing area, and it was really cool to go through this experience again while watching the game. We sat at the bleachers with our $18 beers (yikes, yet typical) and had the best time. It wasn't super hot this day due to a storm (thank goodness) but definitely recommend taking some sunscreen, glasses, and a hat if you find yourself there when the sun is blazing. It's less crowded and for what you pay everything is included. The unlimited food and drinks which are not cheap there. They have Chicago style hotdogs, burgers, Italian beef, snacks and beer and wine. The views on the rooftops vary but ours was nice and the weather was great. We took the el this time and it's so convenient to get off right at Addison. They beat the Pirates 12-2 and we had a great time!

Just know that you have to pay whatever the current parking fee is for the park to even be able to get in and see the museum (I wonder how they'd handle it if you just walked in to the park?). That fee changes seasonally. When I went in late spring, it was a beautiful day and they were charging $15 per car. There seems to be a lot of other activities to do at the park, but I had limited time, so I only went to the museum (walking through the tank park first). The museum is free. On entering the museum, I went to the left, which is a series of displays about more modern warfighters (Vietnam to current). It was good, but my pro tip is to go to the right first. This was an amazing recreation of WWII battle scenes with an extraordinary amount of detail. The park immediately in front of the museum has a variety of tanks and, surprisingly, they let you climb on them. I saw many kids and adults taking photo ops on the tanks.

The museum is sectioned into two parts: WWI, WWII and Vietnam eras and a "modern" section of the 1ID's recent involvements. This museum was very interesting and it was clear that there is a lot of attention to detail in this immersive experience. The grounds were well taken care of and the bathrooms were clean. While there I saw families and people of all ages enjoying the space and learning about the history of the 1ID. Outside of the museum is also steel from the World Trade Center (9/11). Very informative and great way to spend an afternoon.

The venue holds around 5000 peeps for a game, so you can get great views from practically every seat. Amazingly my love and I were able to sit right behind the Loyola bench for a game this past season thanks to the hookup from one of my sports-friendly buds, so this was a thrilling experience to be practically part of the action. Besides the game itself, we got to see Sister Jean in person, and in Lego and bobblehead form in the public display area. Check out the memorabilia commemorating Loyola's NCAA men's basketball championship in 1963 and the stunning 2018 Final Four run by the Ramblers.

I had my high school graduation here and it wasnt the most appealing of venues at the time. Most recently, Loylola has made several improvements and renovations across the Lake Shore campus. Definitely improved and quite beautiful for a "commuter" school. This arena is one of the greatest changes to the campus. Similar to other college basketball courts, the seats are right on top of the floor so you have a good seat wherever you are. The floor is beautiful in the maroon and gold. It has a good student section area that is right behind the Courtside seats. They have updated their big screens and monitors which are amazing for a Missouri Valley Conference school. They have bench seating as well as regular seats as well and it is comfortable compared to other places. Food in the stadium is fairly priced here with the typical nachos, hot dogs, and pizza. They do sell beer now at the arena as well. Overall it is a great arena that is always packed with loyal Loyola students and alumni on game day.

Again I just like to support independent businesses in local areas. We arrive around 7:30 just in time for the doors to open. The light buffet was to be served around 7:45PM and the show to start @ 8pm. We found our seats and were waiting it was pass the 7:45 mark and no one was directing us to the buffet table. Finally after what seem to be forever people were going up to start the food line. It was more than a light buffet to me. BBQ chicken winglets, bbq rib tips, cole slaw, potato salad and French fries. There was also wine being served. The show started a little after 8 which was not too bad. It started off with a few skits to warm up the crowd. I was just a little bit disappointed that It was only one person who came to the mic to do poetry. There was a nice mini concert with a live band. The singer was amazing and had a nice soulful voice. Very entertaining and had me jamming in my seat. Last was a comedian who was very funny and kept the crowd in stitches. Very funny. I just wish it was more literature poetry reading that night with actual poems that had ideas and meaning to them instead of a mini concert and a comedian. l

Ribs? On the river? I'm in!…read more Normally a $10 admission, I took advantage of a early family hours special (free until 3 pm on Friday). It looks like they are going try and utilize the Freedom Center (so that's what it's called) as an event space more and more. They had used it for a haunted house last October, and now it makes for a relatively accessible event space with some degree of parking. There's 12 places that are serving ribs, a mixture of local places, and a number of out of state places (even one from Ontario, Canada!). Given that I was trying to try this during lunch, I could only have so much, so here's what I tried: Texas Thunder: Pork Sandwich for $7 The pork was tender and juicy, but in a way that was somewhat unremarkable despite my choice in adjectives. There were 3 sauces you could add to taste: Mild, Sweet and Spicy. Although there was spicy to their spicy, it just tasted like they added black pepper to one of their base sauces, versus blending something differently. The sweet was average at best. Famous Dave's: 1/2 slab rib for $12 Given a light brush of original sauce, you'll also have the option of adding some additional original or spicy. These sauces were a bit more distinctive and the meat was thrown back on the grill before serving. The meat was juicy and fatty in the right spots, almost cleanly off the bone. A good way to cap off my rib eating for lunch. There was a 1/3 slab option which I probably should have done instead, and dinner options with bread and beans. Original Rainbow Cone: Small on a Waffle Cone $4. Yes, yes, I know there's one on State Street now, but I couldn't resist. There are two main stages for music, plus a lounge area that I didn't get to check out. There's pop, water, lemonade, wine, and beer as well. This is cash only everywhere with ATMs outside the event space and inside as well. I selfishly would like these events to do well, so that they continue to hold events so close to me.

But, that has it's perks: less crowds, shorter lines, no fighting for a seat in the precious shade, and the city has a better skyline. The sponsors give away free pop by the can because...they can. Every so often you could hear the air and water show. Cons: since there were less people, the stands were not cooking up fresh stuff. There was only one place selling drinks and they were six dollars. Very few dessert options. (That's important to me and many others I am sure.) It's still ten bucks with less vendors and no carnival.After all, it looks like a glorified parking lot. Oddly enough, some vendors had packed up and left by 2pm. Still a great option for ribs though, it had a good variety of local and not so local rib vendors. Winner: Texas Thunder ribs, in which the meat fell of the bone and *shock* didn't need no sauce. Johnson's came in second, but it was slathered in sauce and really...could you go wrong with bbq sauce on grilled meat? Jacks and Rasta in third for taste. However, Rasta gave me a large slabs of jalapeno cornbread and they had the best sauce overall. They had plenty of bands and two stages, and that does give it a nice fest-feel to it. Also, there was a VIP area, but it would have only been useful when Good Charlotte was there on Friday night or if I was going to spend a lot of time there under the bridge.
