I'd always passed the place hopping off of the skyway from Chicago but always thought it looked like a creepy, empty place that could be the scene for a scary movie. The place actually is bigger and nicer on the inside than I thought. Held our graduation well and there was more than enough room for friends and family. Parking was a bit of a hassle but with an event like graduation, what's to be expected? We got ushered out of there quickly when it ended. They didn't want the rift raft tearing down the last recognizable building in the city. *shrug*

All the big names/concert come here when visiting Gary. The city host their large events here, like MLK, Jr day. Overall the shows here are good quality for the city and the surrounding areas. However, I have also seen the Genesis Center used for major shows, such as the Ms. USA pageants that Trump brought to the city in the early 00's, which was top quality. So the Genesis Center can do really great shows, as the place has been kept up mainly due to the use of the Steelcats team. Yes, you are coming to Gary, IN for entertainment. However, it does not mean that you will miss out on receiving a top ranked experience due to the location. The Genesis Center is more than able to provide a quality show.

Our seats were an amazing view of first base and there were a variety of crowd engagement activities. Some of the best stadium food can be found there too. Usually I get nachos, but I switched it up this time by going to Lucky's for the Gochujang Bubble Waffle. It was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet and well worth the price. Later on I grabbed a margarita that came in a cute souvenir cup. It was fun to drink and helped keep me cool. I look forward to attending more Sox games in the future!

Additionally, on a day we had to be there, they couldn't be bothered to plow the parking lot leading to people parking in 2 spaces exacerbating their limited parking. They also have no entry from their rear parking and couldn't be bothered to have someone even lightly shovel the 9 mile walkway from the back. Saw multiple seniors slipping due to the egregious lack of maintenance during a tournament that people are charged in excess of 15$ a day for the 'privilege' to attend. Also doesn't appear that they had heating in the men's restroom. It was significantly colder and almost to the point of unbearable. All around less than stellar experience.

Chicago State University made my college experience horrible. The advisors do not know what they…read moreare doing. Most of them are teachers who do not have time to advise students. Any information you need to know comes from peers not the staff. The school is unorganized and money hungry.

The best thing about Chicago state university is the staff. The Dean of Students, Ms.Upshaw,…read moreMs.Bennet, and every single staff member that I've ran across are absolutely amazing. It's honestly a bit sad that they word for CSU because the staff are so much greater than the university itself. They are supportive, loving, and really do want their students to excel in life. Unfortunately the school itself is a shit show. It's not clean, outdated, and not worker-friendly. Most schools at least have evening classes but CSU practically has none. You can't go to the school unless you work at night or don't have a job at all. There are very few resources to succeed here. I wouldn't recommend CSU for anyone. They have very few programs in comparison to other schools. It's cheap but the area is located in the hood and commuting can be unsafe if you're using public transit. Good luck with your endeavors at CSU.... If you can avoid it, just go to the community colleges instead.

Their website at the very bottom says that their "museum" is designed for 4- 9 year olds. What it doesn't mention is that if you bring a 2 year old, you will be turned away. I drove 30 min to come this run down building as I wanted to patronize more south side businesses. This was a mistake as the owners are rude and condescending. A 501c3 is not supposed to act as some weird club that can turn away kids because you assume 2 year olds don't have the capacity to do arts and crafts - which is so stupid. This place has been in the neighborhood for years and yet it is always empty and no I know has ever gone inside. This place could and should be more accessible instead of telling people to call around and go to another museum. They had the audacity to try and explain how children's museums work. Maybe take better notes. Oh and they told me to try the children's museum at navy pier - considering it's closer to me and you clearly don't want any customers - I will and so should other people.
