I highly recommend Gary Pools. We recently decided to build a pool with them and they have brought our vision to life. Ruben Gonzalez has been 100% available to us at all times, has been honest and straightforward since the beginning. We were hesitant at first going with such a big company thinking that it would be very impersonal, "just another large company doing what large companies do". That cannot be further from the truth. The staff at the design center was very hands on and helpful with choosing the materials. We were overwhelmed by the number options that they can provide but we're guided through with grace and patience by all of them. I don't feel that were up charged or talked into something bigger just to "meet quota". For example, we have 2 kids and you would think a slide would be an easy sell. They gave us the pros and cons and ultimately recommended that we do not, given the type of pool, size of pool and what we would be using it for...how's that for honesty. We needed a repair to our gunite pool and Larry came by twice to give us an accurate estimate and provide insights on what could be done. After the 1st repair they came back to address some new issues at no additional charge. Altogether we were happy with the service and cost. Your pool technician, James, is horrible. He does not know what he is doing and cannot clean a pool correctly. Due to his negligence, I broke out in a rash while swimming in my family member's pool and had to go to the doctor and get medicine. When she tried to talk to him about her pool not being properly cleaned, he started arguing with her in the middle of the street! He began yelling at HER because he didn't think he was doing a bad job and refused to even listen to her complaint. I hope your other technicians don't have this attitude! I will never recommend your service to anyone I know in San Antonio! read more

After recently completing construction on our dream pool, we quickly noticed an unfortunate leak coming out of the spa area. I called the service department and they were able to get us on the schedule within the next few days. Keith was our service tech and his first words were "I've never seen this before." that didn't sound too promising... after a few minutes of doing a dye test, he was able to pinpoint a small hole in the grout between 2 tiles where it wasn't totally sealed. It was a very quick fix that he was able to do there without having to go back and return a different day. I'm VERY pleased with how he handled the situation, and how determined he was to make it a small fix rather than ripping out stones. These are the reasons why we chose Gary Pools in the first place, because their employees are dedicated to their job and their customers. Thank you, Keith! I called Gary Pools requesting help to pull a wire about 60ft through a pvc pipe in order to replace an old incandescent light with a new LED. The wire was completely stuck and after working on it for hours I called Gary Pools and they made an appointment for the same week. Andy came out and quickly recognized that the presence of a separate ground wire in the PVC had caused the binding. With in an hour we had the line pulled and shortly thereafter my new LED was working. I could not be more pleased with the speed, price, and professionalism of the work that Andy accomplished. Do not buy a pool from Gary's Pool and Patio in San Antonio. Gary Zars is a crook. I paid 32, 000 for a pool installation and another 6000 extra for an extra concrete deck to be added around the pool. 1. Hole was excavated in the wrong end. Crew fought with us stating we were wrong. 2. Viking Pools states in a soil expansive area backfill of rock or road material must be used, they used sand. A month after pool was installed it began sinking in the shallow end. 3. We called 5x to Garys to come and look and they refused. They were rude and told us to quit complaining. Mr. Zars cussed at my husband and told him they had our money and there was nothing we could do about it. 4. Paid 2500 for an engineer to test pool and see what happened. Bad Installation!!!!! 5. Paying a lawyer to communicate with him about our issues. 800 6. Did not show up to a meeting he scheduled. Claimed to have a heart attack. 7. Showed up to second meeting and stated we owed him money for a sand filter that they forgot to add to the final price. Even after we asked for the total 3x. 8. Gary admitted there was a problem and his solution, re do concrete around pool. But wont contact us with details. Not good enough!!! The pool sank!!!! Concrete is not going to help Viking Pools the manufacturer of the fiberglass pool shell says the pool must be pulled and the ground excavated with the proper materials. I am looking at 38, 0000 sinking hole in my back yard since last year. Nothing has been done and I am to my end of dealing with these people. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!! read more

Poor customer service! I had a scheduled appointment at 10am and had to contact the sales rep to confirm appoint. I got a response 20 minutes later that they were really running late. That's understood due to the nature of appointments running behind. I then receive a text that the sales rep would be at my household at approximately 11:09am. At 11:55am no one has showed up yet. So i text the sales rep what's the status and yet no response. I had to call the company phone number only to find out that the sales rep visited another client. I have received multiple quotes for new pool construction and each company has been on time. I have decided to sign elsewhere read more

We have tried for 2 years to get Gary Pools to correct their poor resurfacing workmanship. We have been made promises by not only the construction supervisor but also by the manager when the supervisor failed to follow-up and honor the warranty and the promised repairs. We expected more for our $14,000, unfortunately even with a warranty we got a lot less. It appears the only recourse we have now is a legal one.We would not recommend this company. read more

We hired Gary Pools to construct our pool which is what I am extremely pleased with, however during the construction the concrete stairs were not designed to standard and the construction team made a very disappointing attempt to repair. The pool was done before COVID and now that business has opened up we have flagstone steps literally cracking falling apart. They have made 2 attempts to fix and now we have to wait for someone else to come and fix. They refuse to completely demo and repair and we are still waiting. Let me be fair here the pool is great, but the steps if completed by subcontractors were hired by them and should be fixed. I still don't have a time commitment of when they will be repaired because they are "too busy." I can't see how the poor quality delivered in the overall delivery of service is my fault and why I have to be continuously told to wait now that COVID is lifted. I am extremely disappointed with this service. I gave Gary's an incredible review because at the time all was good and looked well done, but obviously this is not the case and I am waiting for Kaitlyn their admin to escalate past whatever manager is responsible for this. I realize this is not her fault and I am only sorry that she has to be subjected to my frustration and disappointment. read more

Took a lot longer to put pool in due to all the rain we got in May/June. Didn't seem in hurry to get it in on dry days. Didn't give me a new filter as promised after installation, and believe me you need it after it goes through everything at beginning. As for the pool, we love it. read more

Buyer beware!! This business is nothing but a scam. Run! far away. They asked for most of our money in advance after we agreed to have a pool built in July...to date they have not even completed it. It takes about 4 weeks tops. They put refurbished materials for the switch and pump. They keep promising everything and delivering nothing. They do not care about the customer. We had a pool installed last summer by Gary Pools and Patio. The concrete guy did not level the pool before pouring the slab. Then the forms were all wrong so when they poured we had ridges all around the edge. They came out and looked at it and wanted to send the same guy out to fix it. When I asked for a different guy the were less than helpful. I finally got it finished but what a hassle. Now the mortar under the coping is falling off. I called three weeks ago and still have not heard anything back. If you decide to use Gary's good luck. read more

So far I do not recommend Gary pools. They are unorganized and non-responsive. We were told our pool would be done quickly and that is a lie. They tell us someone will be working on it and then no one shows up nor calls us to let us know why. We have called them several times upset with their process someone says they made a mistake however still no action and we are still waiting for our pool to be completed. I started shopping for my pool early this year and after much research I decided to go with a fiberglass pool because of the lower maintainence costs and great warranty. The went to Gary's Pool and Patio and had great service from the start. Decided to go with them because of their product line Viking Pools. Most of the employees there also have lots of experience in the pool business. During the installation the subs and crew were a pleasure to work with. The project took about 30 days to complete and the results were outstanding. I am so happy to have my pool ready to enjoy it during this summer heat. I would highly recommend GPP! read more

Not very happy with the service. The motar around the top edge of the pool seems to be disappearing. the small pebbles in the mix are now exposed. Two months after the pool was finished, the plaster started turning white from calcium but no help in correcting the levels. Great product but recently found out they did not close our permit from ten years ago and are non responsive to completing the permits so we can do an addition to our home. If you have had a pool built by this company you should make sure they close your permits.!! Owner very rude and disrespectful to my wife and City of Austin Staff who have tried to contact him. If you and your family are thinking about purchasing a pool from Gary's Pool &Patio in San Antonio or Corpus Christi PLEASE THINK TWICE ABOUT IT and do your research diligently. Research the IRS website issue, Troubleshooter website, Nueces County Sheriff Dept. website and the Bexar County Sheriff Dept. website. Don't bother with BBB they do not give you a true picture of serious issues. We purchased a pool in 2013 from Gary's Pool & Patio and it was the biggest mistake we ever made. (Both senior citizens) The pool was defective from the get go (cracked pool) and Gary was full of promises to make it amendable to us. (Never did) His so call warranty is worthless. Do not buy a pool from this company. My pool turned white, and it took close to a year of constantly calling them to fix the pool. The guy in charge said it was an easy 2-3 day fix; however, this supposed repair is going on 4 weeks now. The laborers are very unreliable as far as timeliness. Everyday is a different excuse as to why no one worked on the pool that day. I'm lucky if I have them out here working on my pool 2-3 times in a week, and that too I have to call them and and get upset before they send their workers again. My pool still is not fixed from this fiasco of a repair. Very poor customer service, with substandard labor, extremely poor communication. We had problems since the first day. They took 4 months to built our pool. When they finally finished we found out that the chlorine pump was not working. They fixed after a few days. I can't believe I trusted them!!!! Gary's Pools wanted all their money up front in the form of a cashier's check. The fiberglass spa was installed and running in 3 days, but the decking and stonework has been ongoing for the last 2 months. The mason (Felix Galvan) comes about once a week, does a little work, then doesn't show up for weeks. I refused to give them a cashier's check and talked them into charging my credit card for the installments, so I finally turned to the merchant dispute service from my credit card company. They are giving them 45 days to complete the job and if they don't, they will not pay them for the mason work. Don't give them a cashier's check; make sure you hold at least $3000 until the decking is complete; and ask them about "the free decking program" and watch them squirm. If you like frustration, anger and disappointment.....use Gary's Pool and Patio in San Antonio. read more
