So Garry Barone sold his practice to somebody else. In the letter he sent telling us he sold his practice, he did not say that the new dentist is an out of network provider for Delta dental. This seems really important. My dependent scheduled routine cleaning, and I got a bill for $164 from their practice because they're out of net work. I called the receptionist and I was told, "I don't know why Dr. Barone he failed to include that in his letter. " I'll never take my business there again. read more

Dr. Barone is the best dentist I've ever had. He was my dentist when I was younger. I left his office because they didn't take my jobs dental plan. It took me 10 years to get back. My entire family has gone there for years. Super friendly and approachable staff/team. He is a patient and thorough doctor, he takes the time to explain everything just before he does it. Dr. B is a great dentist and a super nice person. My husband picked him out of the phone book over 10 years ago. We've both been patients of Dr. B for nearly that long. Dr. B and his staff are very considerate of patient comfort. He wants you to understand your situation and explains all the options so you can make considered decisions. His staff are great. They are calm, knowledgeable, care about patients, and seem to enjoy working with each other. I've also had the pleasure (ha!) of being a patient of the periodontist (Dr. Lewis) that works with Dr. B. It's been many years, but you need a periodontist and if Dr. Lewis is still there, I highly recommend him as well. He is also very gentle, very knowledgeable, and is great at explaining the situation and options. read more

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Barone to anyone. I needed a dentist for an emergency issue after relocating to Sacramento. I called around, and Dr. Barone was willing to take me in same day (even though he was full, and he had the following two weeks off). He was able to resolve my issue temporarily until he returned then took care of the issue permanently. Afterwords I decided to come back for other issues and regular cleanings. I'm glad I did, Dr. Barone is a great guy, professional, friendly, and his staff is equally as great. He always makes sure you are comfortable when he is working on you, and always fully explains what he is doing, and why. This is one thing I have never experienced in the past with other dentists, an in depth explanation of why something needs to be done, and how it is going to be accomplished. read more

5 stars to the dental hygienist's because they always do a great job and are always very gentle but thorough . Come here if you want a good teeth cleaning with the ppo dental insurance. If you don't have dental insurance don't come here if you can't afford it. This place does cost a lot more than others. It's $288 for a cleaning and X-ray and you can only imagine how much for a filling or anything else for a bad tooth. Front Staff is always very pleasant. read more

I been over to Dr. Barone's twice after I read the review on Yelp. The staff there is great. The person that did my teeth cleaning was excellent. My filling replaced was also excellent work. It appears that Dr. Barone has the latest computer equipment to show your teeth, which was pretty cool. I go to the dentist every six months for routine care since it's covered by my insurance. The flip side is that Dr. Barone tried to give me the hard sell routine for Invisalign. Which are invisible braces that cost $4000.00!!!! When I came in for my first visit he acted like he was my buddy, hey dude/bro stuff. It made me suspicious. Then he hit me with the Invisalign sales pitch after we became "dudes". When I said I wasn't interested he became frustrated and even kind of angry. This went on for about a half hour or longer. Eventually when he realized I wasn't going for it, and gave up. He even told me that I would be a good candidate because of the condition of my teeth. That shocks me because I have gone to several dentist over the years and nobody has ever told me anything about the need for braces. I have never had anything but perfect evaluations by my dentist. I recently went back to Dr. Barone to have a filling done. Again he started up with the buddy/bro/dude routine, and I was waiting for his sales pitch. Then again he asked me about Invisalign. Doctors that try to sell their patients costly unnecessary medical procedures for a profit just really pisses me off. I feel sorry for other patients that have gone to him without the good judgment to figure out what he was doing. Now they are stuck with a $4000 bill to pay off. read more

Dr. Barone, or as I and others like to call him, "Dr.B." is one of the best if not the best dentist in the area. He is caring, compassionate, professional, and has a great sense of humor. I have been with him since he first opened for business. His entire staff is wonderful and they all make you feel like you're family. I hate needles and any time I need a shot, he makes sure they are virtually pain free. A big thanks to Dr. B. He takes time with his patients and explains everything in easy and understandable terms. I went to Dr. Barone as a new patient for an exam and cleaning based on the recommendation of an acquaintance and was surprised two weeks later with a bill for a full mouth set of X-rays. I am not pleased since his office informed me that my insurance fully covered all preventive and basic treatment. His staff also asked if I had a full mouth set of X-rays recently (yes, in fact, six months ago) and still took the full set without letting me know that I would have to pay out of pocket. My insurance covers full sets only every five years. I am accustomed to dentists who provide an estimate, and many dentists I have seen in LA don't bill patients for X-rays, even if they can't get reimbursement from insurance. I encourage you to ask clearly about charges, obtain a written estimate, and prior authorization if feasible to avoid billing surprises later. Dr. Barone is a Delta Premier provider, which means that his contracted rates are higher than a Delta PPO provider (possibly a concern given your annual maximum coverage). As for his bedside manner, I found him friendly and patient, but somewhat patronizing. I believe that he would provide treatment competently and ethically, although I will be seeing a different dentist who is a Delta PPO provider. I waited a bit and I'm not sure why I had to sit with someone to obtain insurance coverage information over the phone when this could have been taken care of before the actual appointment. After all, they asked me for my insurance information when I made the appointment several weeks in advance. His staff was nice, and the cleaning performed by the hygienist was fine. It was nice that there was off-street parking. read more

Where do I start? I have been going to Dr. B for over 15 years. He is so wonderful, patient, calming, and he explains before he does anything whether it be cleaning, caps, or whatever it is, he makes sure his patient knows what he and his staff are doing at the time. He and his staff are very professional and wonderful to deal with. The only complaint would be the location. I hate going downtown but would make the trip for them.
