The food was terrible, the service was very bad, the eggs there taste like rubber, it took over 2 hours for bad food. The ambience was bad, there was no music, the old owner of this place was way better, I'm very disappointed with this, and it was over 100$ for trashy food. I'm so disgusting and disappointed with this. The table next to us was going to a show and missed almost 30 to 40 minutes, because of the poor service and mix up of food and Bill's, overall dissatisfied with this. read more

We enter, no music and the hostess had her hair down. We order the food after around 45 minutes and we only got our drinks after 45 minutes, it was not busy at all. Before we got it the waitress asked us what table ordered the pear salad, that is not our job. ​Now the food, the egg tasted like rubber and it was bitter. We go risotto and it was regular rice. I feel disappointed because the last owners tried really hard to make it nice and put a lot work into it, for something not so good. Found out that this is the place to go for dinner when in Annapolis Royal Rooms Booked room3 and 4 for a family of four. Received discount of $20 on the second room which was nice. Nice to come here after a very hot day in Lunenberg and Kejimkujek. Clean and spacious rooms. Atmosphere Quaint restaurant with two dining areas and also some outdoor tables. Served by Patrick and Tabitha. Fresh bread was brought to the table. It's delicious when you're hungry. Appetizers Fresh tomatoes with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh herbs. Very good. I ordered the Dean Martin salad with lobster and pineapple. Sweet fresh lobster tops off this salad. Mains I also ordered the shrimp and scallop Thai Curry on basmati rice. I ordered medium spicy curry, which is the right amount of heat for me. The addition of raisins, cranberries and apples to the curry dish worked really well. Classic burger with a caesar salad. My son quit talking and ate the whole thing. Say no more. Well done. Pork medallions with grilled potatoes and a fruit chutney. Pork was nicely done with the right amount of seasoning. Bay of Fundy Salmon with yogurt/ dill/ caper sauce. Salmon was poached; light and moist. A lot of fresh steamed veggies including Swiss chard, carrots, purple cabbage, green beans and cherry tomato. All locally grown. Dessert Look at the pictures of the lemon tart, Belgian dark chocolate mousse, and creme Caramel. and yes, they taste as good as they look. If we are ever back this way we will definitely come back. read more

Exceptional brunch! Great service! The staff are super friendly, the food platters are huge but so good you hate to leave anything behind ( thankful for the to go boxes). The eggs Benedict, seafood omelette and French toast are all great. Each entree comes with fruit, cheese, bacon, sausage and potatoes. read more

Our recent evening at the Garrison House Inn restaurant (July 25, 2024) proved to be one of the worst dining experiences of our lives. Things began well with a last-minute reservation, and we were not told there would any long wait for our dinner to be served. When we arrived, we were seated at a nice table out on screened-in porch. But things went downhill from there. It took a while for the waitress to ask us for any drinks, then longer for her to take our order. Then, the sad adventure began. We are relatively patient people and realize that sometimes restaurants can be short-staffed, both with wait staff and in the kitchen. After an hour wait, we started to realize that things were not right; the waitress disappeared and our diners not arriving. Ultimately, we waited almost two hours at our table, after being seated, with our dinners not being served. At that point, we left, leaving money on the table for our drinks. At the very least, we should have been given updates from our waitress, and with the long wait, at least a consolation, such as free drinks, appetizers or even the whole dinner for free. Hugely disappointing! Based on our experience, we cannot recommend the Garrison House Inn restaurant. read more

Ms T and I checked in to The Garrison House for our third night in Nova Scotia. We wandered around a bit, visited the fort and found a local beer. We decided to eat at Garrison House, it looked like the best choice. They were understaffed on that evening, but that aside, we had a very nice meal. We started with a Dean Martin salad, served appropriately in a Martini glass. It provided us a nice serving of seafood to split. I chose a nightly special of Thai Chicken (ordered spicy). This was a very well prepared and well seasoned dish served on basmati rice with a sautéed vegetable on the side. The heat was too much for Ms T, but I enjoyed it very much. Ms T had Lobster and Scallop Risotto that was also well prepared. The risotto was properly cooked and the seafood was very flavorful and fresh. We also shared a liter of Nova Scotia white wine. This was a very good meal. We enjoyed our stay at Garrison House. We were in Room #7, which is up two flights, but don't let that scare you. We were told when we booked that some people complain when they find out they have to walk up two flights. My only concern with this room would be hot in the summer, but it is air conditioned. Breakfast was fairly standard, but good and was certainly all we needed. Garrison House is definitely worth checking out. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed this place, which was recommended by our local innkeeper. It's in a B&B - so I wasn't sure what to expect. But the food was memorable. We enjoyed a nice L'Acadie wine, and a starter of fresh asparagus with garlic and a balsamic reduction. My wife had a cream of asparagus and fiddlehead soup. Fresh flavors. I had a wonderful tomato and roasted red pepper soup with a hint of chipotle. I'm going to try to make this when I get home. My dinner was scallops with marsh greens and turnips; my wife had a simply prepared haddock with roasted potatoes. The chocolate explosion cheesecake was probably overdone - way too much after a nice dinner. But they had other choices. I'd blame it on us. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in this region! read more

Right in the middle of the village, and with some decent recommendations behind it, we were hoping for a lot more from this place. The hosts are indeed lovely, but you could do better for food, which is just mediocre. Nothing outstandingly bad or poor, but nothing to recommend it from average. Since Founders House is only 5 minutes away, skip this one and go there instead. read more

Service was great, atmosphere on the enclosed deck was perfect for a hot summer evening and dinner was fabulous! One person had pickle soup, trout and sticky pudding and the other person had caesar salad, steak and creme brule. We will definitely return! read more

Pork medallions were tasty but I would have preferred them cooked slightly less (I've noticed during this Canadian vacation that no matter how I ask for my meat cooked that it comes out well done, so I don't know if maybe it's a health code thing?). Hubby had scallops which were prepared in a tasty sauce and served over pasta. Both meals good. Pork came with pesto potatoes that were delicious. Both meals came with one piece of asparagus and some cold carrot and pickled cabbage spirals that just didn't really appeal to either of us. We had the lemon caramel custard dessert which was ok, but nothing I would order again. Staff was friendly and service was good. read more

I have no doubt that people have had great experiences here but our experience on this evening was definitely meh, I've had much better, very disappointing to say the least. And it started with such promise. We made reservations and arrived on time. A man, I'll call our "host" seated us in the screened in porch with a nice view of Historic Fort Anne. There were 2 or three other tables occupied. The woman who came by and introduced herself as our hostess, I will call our server. She was lovely, we exchanged pleasantries, we seemed off to a good start. I ordered the "Traditional Caesar Salad" to start and the special that evening, scallops with pasta, sun-dried tomatoes & feta cheese. B ordered the tenderloin steak which was unavailable this evening but the alternative ribeye would do. Our server came with a basket of bread which I left to B to enjoy. He said it was very good. When my salad arrived I squeezed the provided lemon wedge over the lettuce and proceeded to eat. There was grated parmesan, smokey bacon and what looked like store bought croutons. But that was it, no garlicky goodness, no oil or egg, not even an essence of anchovy (our server said the chef used anchovy in his traditional dressing). It was only after I finished it that I realized they must have forgot to dress the salad. I didn't say anything since the salad was finished. By this time all the tables were full, a second server was in the room.We waited and waited. our server came by and said our meals would be out soon, was there anything she could get us, B asked for more bread. She dropped some off and disappeared - for a long time - as we waited some more. People who came in after us were getting food, the table of 4 next to us who ordered only a short time before us had long finished their meal when the "host" came by and refilled their water glasses, his back to us, he walked away without acknowledging our existence. At that point I knew they knew this was not going well for us. At last our meals arrived with no apology as to the wait but an "enjoy your meal". I have to admit, the scallops were exactly as described. Scallops, tri-coloured fuisilli pasta, sun-dried tomatoes and small crumbs of feta cheese, full stop. Gordon Ramsey would have released a round of expletives, no perfect sear on the scallops, no seasoning, not even a hint of salt or pepper. The whole dish could best be described as watery. The scallops seamed like they were poached in tap water, admittedly they were fresh. But the weirdest part of all, each scallop was cut in half, the mystery was why. I have never seen that done before. Brian said his steak was fine, at least it was sort of done to his request of medium rare, though I believe he left about a third of it on the plate as gristle and fat. About a minute into our meal, our server stopped by to ask how it tasted "It's Okay" replied B. "That's great" she said, "Enjoy the rest of your meal" and off she bounced. At that point we felt defeated. If she was great with us having an okay meal, what's the point of saying anything else. We finished our meal, declined dessert and got our bill. B took the bill to the small bar where the host took his payment. No question of "How was everything?" He knew. Honestly the hot hamburger sandwiches we had at the diner the night before made for a far more satisfying experience at less than a third of the price. read more

This is a very fun and different restaurant. Normally, I don't walk into a B&B for dinner, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this one. They have three dining rooms, with a bar in one of them. We sat in the dining room in the bar because we are bar people. Ha. It was very quaint and, as suspected, homey. I had the salmon with a creamy dill sauce. It was great! And, came with plenty of vegetables, which is important after eating fries for lunch! My partner had the jambalaya which was a little disappointing, but I think that is because we are from the southern US and we may be biased. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in the area because it was delicious and unique. read more

I ordered the curry seafood, medium heat. I was expecting a Thai style curry, but got more of just curry with shrimp, scallops, apples and raisins. The meal also came with a side of assorted steamed vegetables. All in all, I enjoyed my dish. I personally think the description could be changed to accurately describe what is being ordered. This is a very nice restaurant in an old house well maintained. The service was slow not sure if we arrived along with many others. The food looked beautiful. The presentation was exquisite. I had scallops with pasta and my wife had pork tenderloins. Both dishes were absolutely tasteless. I don't believe they used any spices. The vegetable was steamed carrots, cabbage, and asparagus. They were steamed with no sauce, butter, or any spice. Not worth half the price. read more

The food here was delightful. I tried a seafood curry which was extremely tasty and not overpowering. My companion went with the extremely fresh dig by scallops which were excellent. We had been riding bikes all day, so we decided to splurge on a dessert of gingerbread cake with maple whip cream, which I highly recommend. We tried out this restaurant for dinner on the 2nd night of our two-night-stay in Annapolis Royal, during a recent week-long vacation in Nova Scotia. As other reviewers mentioned, the restaurant has a long "Odd Bin" list of wines; however, the waitress was unable to tell us about any of them, and because many were unfamiliar names, we just took a shot in the dark. We chose a local Nova Scotia wine, which was pleasant if not memorable. The food was delicious, starting with two different salads, working our way through a nicely-cooked steak, and ending with a chocolate-laden dessert (our favorite kind of dessert). All was prepared, cooked, and presented very nicely. And the restaurant is directly across the street from Annapolis Royal's famous lantern cemetery walk, so we didn't have to push our full bellies very far for our evening adventure. read more
