Amazing sandwiches on fresh bread . Turkey was fresh and tasty. There's usually a line but it moves fast.

Gluten free options available. See the menu at http://sagratis.com/menus/ I stopped here for a sandwich recently. I was going to order the Grilled Salmon Sandwich, but they did not have salmon available, I then decided on the California Club ($8.25 with HST) on a wheat baguette, which was made to order and ready to go in under 3 minutes. The 6-inch sandwich had tender seasoned boneless grilled chicken breast and juicy bacon strips (some fat) with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and a guacamole spread on the bread. The baguette was thick and chewy. I enjoyed my sandwich with some seafood chowder I picked up at another deli in the same building.

I live in Sant Andrews and whenever we're anywhere close to St. John we stop by the City Market JUST for one if their sandwiches. I mean crazy good. The pork belly number is a sinful pleasure. The simple grilled cheese is comfort food exemplified with a crispy, buttery toast and oozy, tangy cheddar. Mmmmm!!!! Today was the BLT. Ok. This BLT is not just another ho hum, had it before BLT. It is simply the best BLT this guy has ever had! An almost candy like smoked bacon (from a nearby meat smoker), a maple syrup mayonnaise that is about as unctuous and satisfying as one could imagine, and, for some added fun, a thin slice of what I think was provolone. I forgot to ask. All this sandwiched between two perfectly char toasted slices of the afore mentioned buttery bread. Wow and wow!!! Like I really needed the gorgeous dill, potato salad I got as a side. Well, apparently I did because I ate it all! Their deserts are to die for decadent but that's for another day. The owner(s) are about as lovely and lively as could be and hats off to them for taking over and enhancing this long standing City Market spot. Yay! See you again soon and thanks!!

I was told about it by a local who said "it's where the cool kids go" for coffee and to hang out. I figured it would be a dive of a coffee shop and not much else, but of course I was wrong. Instead it is an impressive French-themed café frequented by a thorough cross-section of both locals and tourists, going by my people-watching experiences there. The outside looks unimpressive, with a good-size parking lot, and then a partially covered patio along the front of the café where patrons can sit outside and enjoy the day while sipping their latte or eating one of their fantastic orders of food. Inside there are two rooms. Directly in front of you as you enter the place is the order counter and room to hang out as you wait for your takeaway coffee, with a few tables there as well. To the left is a large room with many tables and out of the way of the hubbub of the order counter and takeout customers. In between is a little kiosk for dropping off your dirty dishes. I had breakfast there twice, and both times I was absolutely satisfied with my impressive meal and coffees. Their signature dish is a bagel with toppings like ham, egg and smoked salmon with veg and vegan options. The presentation is top-notch with greens adorning the dish like it was some kind of a work-of-art. Gorgeous AND Delicious! The menu is simple and posted on the wall beside the order counter. I enjoyed myself there so much! Great place to people-watch with the variety of patrons, everything from business people, to people driving holiday exploration vehicles to students and laptop hounds. This is THE place to go in the area that I was in, which was not in the downtown strip, and instead was in their typical big box alley. Highly recommended!!

The place was fairly busy around lunchtime when we arrived here and they only ran out of 5 of the types of bagels. We decided to get a Bagel Bruschetta ($2.35 plus HST), which was premade and warmed up. The bruschetta topping had good flavours and tasted pretty good which was crushed tomatoes with green onions, seasonings, garlic & olive oil on top of a half a plain toasted bagel. The plain bagel itself was okay, crisp on the outside, but a bit dry inside. If given a choice, I would've chosen a different flavour of bagel (cheddar jalapeno bagel or the onion bagel) instead of plain for the bruschetta, which could still be made to order quickly. The service behind the counter was systematic and prompt with several staff taking and preparing the orders and one staff member cashing customers out.

Due to the time and the season we were told no food spots were open and this was likely our only option. Basically a lifesaver to prevent us from having to eat the minimal food we got in our car so we were thankful for their grab and go sandwiches and wraps. Bread was a touch soggy due to sitting in the fridge sometime but overall good size for the price sandwiches. The store is more "grocery" and less "convenience store" thanks to the large selection and the lack of large grocery stores in this part of Maine, which is right next to the Canadian border. Canned goods, candy, dairy, deli, lots of wine and beer plus the sort of automotive items you might find in a 7-Eleven including oil, anti-freeze and gasoline cans. They were stocking the pizza display as we arrived. They also sell lottery tickets. Plenty of parking out front. At this time, masks are required and the nice woman behind the counter was wearing hers when we made our purchase. [Review 14861 overall, 363 of 2021, number 47 in Maine.]
