My partner and I went to K's for the first time today, March 24/23. First off, the ambiance of the place when we walked in was a very pleasant experience. We were greeted by Kim who was very hospitable and friendly/helpful. I chose the maritimer breakfast and added bacon. The homemade bread was delicious as well as everything else on my plate and the quantity was more than satisfactory and I have a big appetite. The exterior is clean and renovated so it is no longer that run down motel look. I can't say enough except we will be regulars going forward. 5 stars, well deserved! Good Job! P.S. Just wanted to add, I love their fish cakes and the bacon was a higher quality than what I usually receive at a restaurant. read more

You will drive right past this place but turn around and come back. It's so worth it. Look for the hotel parking lot. It's the place all travelers search for... Where the locals eat. Be sure to get the homemade toast with breakfast. Bacon and eggs are cooked to perfection. Cash on only but there is an atm. So happy we stopped here! read more

The best part of this hidden gem is that it's hidden!! The homemade delicious food here is hidden by the exterior walls of a run down motel and bar. The wait staff are friendly And the food speaks for itself! If your the type to stick your nose up at decor and the oddly 4 locks on the bathroom door then this place is not for you! Maybe try Cora's and keep the tables open for customer who know a good deal when you find it!! My only complaint is one order my fish cakes were a tad salty but only happened once.... that's to me how you know the food is fresh and home made!! Even at home we sometimes dash a couple more then we should! They only take cash as well! read more

Uhhh what is this place? A secret world where breakfast blooms like roses. Local joint. A pleasant portal into St John of past times that's still alive. Very friendly service. Very friendly patrons. You'd never know it by riding by, but K's East Side Cafe is a darn good place to have breakfast... and I hear their lunch is good as well. K's occupies the dining room of the Parkway Plaza Motel, an older property on the East Side of Saint John. The motel is the kind of place I wouldn't look at twice if I were looking for a place to stay. K's doesn't really stand out when you look at it from the road. In fact, inside, it looks like an old-fashioned motel diner/cafe. The food, however, does stand out. A friend's father recommended the place, and when we drove up, I felt a bit nervous. I'd like to like places other folks recommend, but my tastes end up betraying me. Their toast is homemade and thickly cut, entirely delicious. Their eggs, are cooked to order and very tasty. One of their options includes bacon, sausage, and ham. The bacon is awesome. Coming from the South, my idea of sausage and ham are different from theirs, but these are good as well. The stars of the meal are the toast, their breakfast potatoes (with onions, please!), and the occasionally available homemade strawberry jam. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are substantial. It's not fancy, but it's a pretty darn solid place to do breakfast. read more

Damn good food. --Cash Only-- But their front desk has a cash-back ATM for up to $40 for a $2-3 fee This place is so hard to find and the exterior really needs some work. Location: Inside the rundown Park Plaza Motel is K's restaurant. It is in the street facing building closest to the street. Go to the reception of the motel and on your left is the restaurant. Food: Home made, thick cut toast in white, wheat or raisin. I got raisin and the sweet waitress brought me home made strawberry jam. So, so good. Eggs, hash browns and bacon were great, bacon was definitely thick and tasty, not overly greasy. I tried something new, a maritime favorite called fishcake. Potato and cod pan fried and it is good. Food came quick and was eaten even quicker. Go up to the register to pay, they are old school. CASH ONLY In summary, the food and service more than made up for the difficulty in finding them and their rundown exterior. I will be back! read more

Desperately searching for a decent breakfast while vacationing in Saint John, I trusted a few random and out of date reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor for K's. So lucky! You would not think to stop at this tiny spot way off the main drag tucked into the corner of a worn out motel, but this is a serious breakfast with all the special touches. Lovely, warm waitress who was actually interested in us and our meal. The home made bread and home made strawberry jam were way above the norm. Perfectly scrambled eggs, excellent quality bacon. Just a really good and affordable breakfast. Hopefully you'll respect the plastic tablecloths and simple surroundings and understand the owner is thinking more about the quality of the food than the decor. Very nice place to eat at. I'd been contemplating going for a long time, since it was right across the street from where I worked, but I never found the time. Well, yesterday, I found the time, and I was certainly impressed with the place! Very good service, good food, and decent pricing. I recommend it. Fair warning, though, at the moment they only have cash payments. read more
