I was having some recurring leg, shoulder, arm, and back issues that were affecting my quality of life, so I reached out to my PCP about physical therapy and they referred me to this place. A friend of mine told me that they had gone there before and filled me in on the best parts of what they have to offer. I was very excited to try it out and get relief from all the pain and tension in my body. However, I quickly realized that the expectations that I had in my head did not align with reality. The location itself is on the first floor of a building and to enter the building (from the parking lot), you must go through a security checkpoint. They don't allow vapes, sharp objects, or metal canteens, so if you have any of these items, you will be forced to turn around and go back. Upon walking in, there is no signage indicating if there is a line or where to form one; when it's busy, there is a jumble of bodies you must try to navigate. There is seating around the walls, and it is usually loud in the reception area. If the receptionists aren't talking on the phone or amongst each other about their Starbucks order, you will have to try and force eye contact for assistance. When seeking assistance, if you interrupt them, you are treated like an annoyance. The whole experience felt overwhelming and the uncertainty of what to do or what to expect added to it. My first visit, Kash, a physical therapy student, was very nice. His instructions on what to do were clear and after he did an assessment and asked some questions, a plan for therapy was formed. When I finally returned for my second visit, this is where things got a whole lot more uncomfortable. I don't know why, but I had envisioned working one on one with a trainer. This was not the case. Apparently, when you are finished, you have to flag down one of their staff to be told what to do next. They started me on an arm machine by the wall, very close to the speaker and it was so loud, my ears were hurting. Thankfully, they turned it down. After starting some leg exercises with Kash, he stepped away. I assumed he would return but was unsure of when that may be. I continued my exercises and scanned the room for him. A short woman with fair skin and straight black shiny hair came up to me. "Are you done with the exercises?" she asked haughtily. "Oh, I was waiting for Kash, so I figured I'd just keep doing them until whatever is next." She grabbed the paper up from next to where I was sitting and said, "Well you need to let us know when you are done because we have things to do." I said "Oh, okay," and after she instructed me on what to do next, I spent the rest of the day wondering if I did or said anything that she may have taken offense to. After all my therapy was done for the day, I asked if she had a printout since I wouldn't remember the exercises. The same lady told me, "We don't do that here," very curtly and then walked away. I felt disheartened and wondered if I should even bother going back. After talking it over with a friend, we figured maybe she just had a bad day. This time, things seemed to mostly be ok, except it was jam packed with staff and patients. At some point, I was on the massage table, waiting for instructions on my next exercise when suddenly, the building got quiet and there was a large roar. A college basketball team on the television screen had scored a basket, and every single staff member on the floor abandoned what they were doing to huddle around the TV (it was March Madness). In all my time there, I felt that most of the staff were only engaged in talking with each other and that the customer service skills there were very lacking. At least this time, at the end of everything, Kash did give me a printout for some exercises. The final straw was when I missed a second visit. I had missed a visit before due to a pressing health issue I had to attend to. I had mentioned to one of the receptionists that I did not want to schedule an appointment before I left the country due to me possibly forgetting. She persuaded me to set one and then change it later, against my better judgment. Three weeks go by and I missed the appointment because, of course, I forgot to put it in my calendar and now someone from the office is calling me to tell me that I now have to speak to the manager and they can only accommodate me if I call in day-to-day. I have a literal disability that the staff should have been well aware of (I had written it down on my intake forms at the very beginning and mentioned it multiple times, to multiple staff) and none of their policies, procedures, or staff (except Kash) seem to accommodate a person like me. On top of that, I felt personally bullied by one of their team members on the floor. I thought about calling them to see if they could make this right, but I was on hold for about 10 minutes, which seems to happen pretty frequently. Overall, I am very disappointed. I really like the place. It's clean, there's lots of free parking and the friendly staff is great. They make it fun when doctor/health appointments can be such a drag. I really appreciated the help I got from everyone. Over a year beginning with my back after surgery, which morphed into what's called Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, I had little to no range of motion, but after the experienced hands of Elin, she worked miracle after miracle. I would be remised if I didn't mention the support staff (PTA's), Tremaine, Jorge, Carol, John Carlo, Juan, Christian, Javier, and all the rest. I would recommend this facility. They are equipped to accommodate a large number of patients simultaneously. They chart each patient's course of treatment on an ongoing basis. Their staff includes physical therapists and assistants that work as a team. They all assist each patient to move through their individual course of treatment, smoothly and efficiently. They are warm and friendly, efficient and professional. The staff members were warm and friendly with each other. They treated each other like family. That warmth extended to their patients. I felt that they cared about me and my progress, personally. They maintained a clean environment, keeping surfaces wiped down between patients. My name is Demica Castillo and I gave gardena physical therapy a 5 star when they are more than that first of the place is welcoming due to the front desk staff Ana, then management Jamie they always greet so with a smile asking you throughout your visit if there is something they can do for you. I've been coming to gardena physical therapy for myself since 2011and have have been treated with one on one good service. You get a workout in there. They help you hands on all the time. I've had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder in 2011 and thanks to Gerard and Chuck im at 100% like no surgery has ever happened in 2018 I had back surgery on L4,L5 with an infusion, plastic disc, bracket and screws. Again thanks to Gerard and Chuck. I can bend down touch my toes, twist, turn etc with no back pain at all. Now im back for 2025 for a left leg fractured fubula. I had to fight to get back to gardena physically therapy for this injury due to my insurance had changed. Before changing over i called to verify their insurance plans just to come back to them. Because i know if the helped me with my speedy recoveries on my prior injuries i know for a fact that they would help me back on the healing path for this one. This place is always welcoming, clean, friendly, making time for you, understanding. I can go on and on and highly recommend them and yes ive tried another place which sent me back to them. I was rushed for my therapies, didnt have one on one. Put it this way didnt get treated like i do at gardena physical therapy. Lastly. They take the time to show you the correct way of doing the exercise recommended for you. My therapist, Laura (and all other therapists), were terrific. I can't reccomend this facility higher. Initially I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to be treated and learn from Gardena Pysichal Therapy due to being from put of state. My story is that of having a rare disease that went undiagnosed for near to 3 years. 8 months ago this resulted in a rapid way resulting my requiring the need to rely on a wheelchair. During my time seeking out help I did find this gem of care. When I called and explained what I was experiencing and had gone through, the office staff put me through to the manager. She heard me out and was one of the 1st medical practices to provide me with true care during my complications. I was set up with Jana and her 30 years experience in this. She is kind and extremely intellegent. Her help with my body has been top notch. Her capabilities to rub out and locate issues that prevent or put strain on mobility is extraordianary. She thinks inside of the box of logic and outside like naturopathic. She helped to educate me on the things she has known and seen towards people that have conditions like me. She pushed me to truly see what my body was capable of. She also provided me with consitent hope. When I was too inflammed to actually perform PT she would try to rub out my swelling, stretch out my body, and worked to place thing back where they need to be. She never skipped a beat in being cautious yet very optomisitic in my care. I'm confident in her abilities to truly help people and trust that she actually cares. Her and her staff. This place has a lot of Physical Therapy's there that still plays around and doesn't have the character or the skills are the mindset of professionalism and respect to their clients. When you go to a Physical Therapy's to get healed you wants to be in a place Where are feel safe and comfortable, and you want respect from your therapist so you can heal mentally and physically I found this place to be disrespectful and inappropriate of the clients feelings. I recently had "Spinal Fusion" on L4-L5, and my doc referred me to Physical Therapy. I tried looking for a place in Torrance at no avail, so had to enroll with GARDENA PHYSICAL THERAPY. Little did I know what a wonderful this place is in terms of the staff and treatment. I have visited many PTs in the past, but not even one compares to the kind of treatment I get here. Through a very close person to me, I was recommended to get my treatments here for frozen shoulders. I'm just about done with my therapy, which has taken over 30 visits, not unusual for frozen shoulders. Dr. Hirani treated me the entire time and I couldn't be more pleased!! He kept me on my toes by changing up the exercises and encouraging me with suggestions and positive vibes. Assessing me as time went by and watching my progress showed the kind of exceptional patient care Dr. Hirani provided. I have been going there almost six months. I love everyone's energy and everyone welcomes me with warmth. It is always have lots of laughter. They all wear mask and we wash our hands once we get there., I love they are into the cleanliness and care for others. Almost all the therapists and staff are bilingual so it is a fun international place. Due to my health issues I went several physical therapists and I always got bored to keep continue going but this place, I enjoy keep going there, that is why I am still going there. it is sad my session is going to end soon. I had an awful fall a couple years ago and I was born with flat feet. But the therapists there are very kind and welcoming and helped me get back on my feet skateboarding again after a bad injury. Do not go to this place because they DO NOT like Black people they are hateful and racist I had an appointment went there today at my appointment arrived five minutes early sat there for 30 minutes and then asked why am I still waiting? She asked my name. She said they called me three times to confirm and if you don't confirm, they cancel your appointment I went through my weeks worth of calls And missed calls. There was never a call from them let alone a voicemail and instead of an apology she justified made excuses but then I have to realize I was black that was gonna happen. Didn't happen to no one else out of the 30 people that was there waiting and so I walked away, and a gentleman said to me, he never confirmed my appointment and it was valid and I said because you're not black, but have a good day so people if you are black do not go to this physical therapist they are hateful and racist. On June 6 I got a sciatica nerve pain that left me in the ER twice so my doctor referred me to this Physical Therapy and it has helped a ton! I learned so much that I will keep on doing the stretches and exercises for years to come. I would like to thank all the front desk staff for always helping me make appointments and calling to remind me of upcoming appointments. I want to thank all the physical therapist and trainers for helping me and being good listeners I felt in very good hands being there. I always look forward to my visits. I have a total of 12 sessions I only have two left and I'm so happy to feel much better I no longer have extreme pain just a little tightness on my piriformis muscle but I know now what exercises and stretches to do. My experience at Gardena Physical Therapy was great! I had a pinched nerve in my neck. I had numbness in my left thumb and first finger as a result. Chuck was my PT. He was great! He listened to me. He was very good at his job. If I needed more or less pressure, he would apply the pressure as I requested. He was very nice and made me laugh. Sometimes I made him laugh. I recommend him. Ask for him to be your PT. My only complaint is that my physical therapy is done. read more

I've had an extensive cervical spine repair and the therapists have been very empathetic towards my condition while at the same time not letting me lag in my therapy and recovery. My orthopedic doctor in Torrance did not have availability in his office for me to have physical therapy so he said to call Gardena Physical Therapy, and i can get started with physical therapy on my ankle, I was hesitant but once I met everyone there I was very happy the Therapists and Aides are wonderful, & the receptionists already had remembered my name by the 3rd time. I sure have progressed in my ankle recovery their care and compassion has honestly helped me feel better and therapy has helped my ankle so much, I'm not walking great yet but from starting with a wheelchair and now walking on crutches it's a miracle. I have had severe back pain for 2+ years and we have tried everything. So grateful to the folks at Gardena Physical Therapy. They truly are miracle workers. I had a pretty nasty back injury early in 2021 and was bed ridden for a few weeks because the pain was so bad. Over the last few months, I went to a chiropractor, went to my primary care doctor and he prescribed me some pretty crazy pain meds but neither of those worked for the pretty intense lingering pain. I was referred here by my doctor so I called in to schedule my first appointment despite some pretty immense skepticism that physical therapy would help me. I noticed immediately that the receptionist was very pleasant and friendly which was a welcome surprise. My initial appointment was made for a couple weeks later. My first appointment was a refreshing change of pace as the physical therapist was really upbeat and positive about starting my recovery. As I went through the exercises with the multiple physical therapists, I noticed that they were just as upbeat and positive. The staff is so patient and encouraging. You really feel genuine care from them. I finished the 6 sessions and the difference is night and day as far as my pain goes. My pain is almost entirely gone now and I feel the most able bodied that I've felt in over a year. I can't thank them enough for giving me my life back. If you get a referral here consider yourself extremely lucky. read more

I came in for a shoulder injury post car accident. From day one there was great professionalism from the front desk to my therapist to the PT aides. I was coming in 2 times a week, the therapists paid attention to my progress and would change up the exercises once they got too easy. The availability of appointments was also great. I was able to squeeze them into my random schedule l would definitely recommend coming here the staff is excellent and friendly( Genesis always greeted me in a great mood) you can tell everyone there genuinely wants to help their patients (thank you Jen and Lisa). read more

1 star for decent clinical work.. minus 0 stars for the rest. For starters, my dad has Medi-cal, he got referred from his primary care doctor. First, they scheduled him a few weeks out ( which was perfect as he hasn't been in the best health) .. then shortly after the daily calls started asking him to come in that exact day in a few hours (mind you he already had an appt scheduled) , because an appt freed up they would call, then the next day... the same.. my dad felt so harassed ( I have the caller ID log to prove it) he finally went in on a random day. It was fine, 2nd appt- he got sick, because he is SICK and then he got a bill for $25 for missed appt.. which is nuts considering he has Medi-cal.. does this place not even realize Medi-cal is for people who are low income? sometimes even at Poverty lines? ..Anyway, he tried to go reason with the receptionist or whatever alleged position she has... and it did not go over well.. My dad then told them he wanted to cancel all future services.. He scraped the $25 anyway he could to pay that first missed fee, and now he has a bill for $40 for second missed appts. HELLOOOOO... he requested to cancel ALL services! I wonder if medi-cal knows you charge Medi-cal patients for missed appts ( whatever the reason), 2. awful customer services 3. not knowledgeable 4. abusive to those not as literate in healthcare and those that are low income.. Maybe if you have private insurance is okay but if you have Medi-cal, stay away.. Just because you need help to pay for healthcare doesn't mean you need to tolerate being mistreated for a grimy business who kept harassing my dad.. and he is a very adherent patient.. had you given him the chance.. I guess don't get sick and frail, because if you miss an appt you will be punished.. and yes, I know that providers lose money when appts are missed. But fees like that should be reserved for those that are chronic no shows.. We will be contacting Medi-cal, better business bureau and any health advocates to inform them of your practice,. If this is how you treat seniors and the disadvantaged... you don't deserve to be in business...Hire a social worker - maybe your staff needs training on drivers of the psych socially disadvantaged; the effects of declining health, limited income and aging.. learn how to treat your patients.. or do everyone a favor and don''t be a Medi-Cal Provider... thieves! oh and you might be asking, well didn't he read the print on the service contract... guess what? he was RUSHED and to top it off there is a tiny sign in their office w/ their cancellation fee notice.. Just stay away folks.. GO somewhere where you will get the respect you deserve.. read more

The staff is sooooo helpful and genuinely care about the patients. They work on a first name bases and they really learn about your condition. Gardena Physical Therapy (GPT) has been a great help for me on my way to returning to functionality after a major stroke that left me fully paralyzed on the left side of my body. My first visit to GPT was in a wheelchair and now with regular visits I am able to walk with a cane. The physical therapist and staff are very caring and attentive, tailoring each program to the patients specific needs that have proven to be very effective. The staff are efficient working on multiple patients at a time while the very knowledgable physical therapist provide focused and quality attention to each patient.
