The Center specializes in hand rehab/therapy so I am so glad my surgeon referred me here. I came here for some physical therapy after having carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand. My thumb pad had atrophied because of this, so my hand and grip was very weak. You first come into the office for full assessment and then they determine your course of treatment and how often you come. Kim did my assessment and was my lead therapist for the first part of my therapy. I came two times a week, and rarely had to wait for my appointment. I had a mix of heat treatments, strength exercises, ultrasound and massage. She was wonderful to work with and very skilled at this work. When Kim left on maternity leave, I was handed over to Katie who was also very good. I had therapy for about 2 months and had great improvement in my strength and flexibility in my hand. The entire office staff and therapy assistants were all helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend the Center to anyone needing these types of rehab. read more

You can't schedule an appointment. They don't answer their phones. It gets discouraging especially if you're in pain and need the services you're referred for from your doctor. I'd suggest another facility that will answer their phones and have more flexible hours. read more

How is there a 4.3 star rating when I just read mostly 1 star ratings? The only positive ones seem to be about hand therapy, and they all start with the same phrase which is sketchy. This was the only place for a kids PT my pediatrician could get my daughter a referral for. Initially someone called me to schedule an appointment when the referral went thought, which was great. The latest appointment they had for a kid was 2:30 which is odd since they are one of very few kids PT's , you would think there would be some after school options. Come the day of the appointment I could not get ahold of anyone in the office to confirm the location. I had to call my pediatrician office, they had to physically walk in to the office (in the same building) to ask about it, Advanced therapy had no record of the appointment. I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone since, with multiple calls and messages. Very frustrating. read more

This office is extremely difficult to get ahold of anyone to make an appointment. I've been calling for over a week all throughout the day during business hours. The number will ring a few times then place you through to a voicemail. Have yet to receive a call back. However, I did have the opportunity to attend one appointment. The office is a bit on the smaller size and showed its age. The front desk staff was friendly enough. While I was in the waiting room, a patient came in quite annoyed to say that he couldn't reach anyone on the phone and needed to change his appointment date, so that should of been a red flag. My therapist greeted me and escorted me to another room for our consultation. I was a bit surprised that another patient was being worked on in such tight quarters while we went through my health history. Once finished we went over to another room with all of their therapy equipment, again, it's tight quarters with a lot going on. My therapist seemed distracted or disinterested as she told me to stretch my legs out while holding a bar. As someone with a fair amount physical therapy history, I just have more experience with therapists who are explaining each stretch more thoroughly and how it will help. We went back to the first room where I laid down on a table and we went through more stretches. As I was leaving she printed out stretches she thought were appropriate and sent me to the front. In my experience in other offices, they'll usually provide you with stretch straps or bands when helpful to your needs, this office does not. I was advised to buy them on Amazon. My physician will be referring me out to another office. read more

Couldn't even get an appointment, no communication and very disorganized. Called repeatedly, finally spoke with someone was told they only do occupational therapy from 9am-1pm Monday through Friday. When I called to make an appointment for Friday was told the occupational therapist isn't there on Friday. read more

The speech therapy services are lacking. First of all, the room is plain, empty and no bigger than a small coat closet. I felt a bit claustrophobic. My first session was so short, like 10 minutes. It actually prompted me to asked him for the specifics regarding the number of minutes each session should be. Amith said that some days we might only have a few minutes based on my son's level of engagement. I can understand that, I could not understand why our first session was so short, my son was highly interested. It really felt like he just didn't want to work with my son. For the second session, Amith, the speech therapist, is nowhere to be found. My son was ready for his 11am appointment only to be told at 11:25am they cannot locate the therapist and the appointment will need to be rescheduled. Later my husband told me the therapist was late and they still had a session. I'm not sure how the lady on the phone didn't know he showed up late and started his session. Neither my husband nor I are speech therapists but we both felt like this therapist was making stuff up as he went along. Just not good vibes. The lack of professionalism caused me to immediate end my relationship. I'd rather wait for another location to have availability that caters to small children. read more

In the last two months I was receiving physical therapy for my shoulder pain. I am grateful for Brian one of the therapist who was thoughtful and helpful. While assisting me with exercises and mild treatments such as ultrasound therapy. He made me feel important and his ability to perform the necessary hands on treatments. My teenage son injured his hand. He started at another OT facility but wasn't making progress. His surgeon said Heather is the best hand occupational therapist in the South Bay. My son started with Heather and progressed. His hand will never be 100%, but that's to be expected due to his injury. We were very happy with the facility, services and treatment. I'm thoroughly disappointed to say that after going to the new location today (Hawthorne & Lomita Blvd), that I most likely will not continue my OT therapy there, even though the therapists are good. The new location is a downgrade from the previous location...it is like the size of a closet!!! It is cramped and I had no privacy with two other patients 3 ft. apart from me. Is this move to the new location to save money or lose money from all the clients that won't come back? read more

I fractured my left ring finger and had surgery to set the bone with an external fixater. The day after surgery I started P.T. with Mo and the gang. They are all consummate professionals. My cast by Brand "X" Therapy slipped off my finger 4 times, setting my recovery back several months. Kim from Advanced Therapy Center fitted me perfectly with a new cast. I was referred to Advanced Therapy Center by my hand surgeon, Dr. Shin at Kerlan Jobe. He had great things to say about Mo, and her office was also conveniently located about 15 mins from my house. They were very accommodating from the start, getting me into their office to start therapy only 2 days after I was referred. I was always able to get scheduled in to see Mo 2x a week, even with her busy schedule. (Thanks to Kendra, the Office Manager) I had a torn ligament in my thumb. I literally could not move my thumb at the first session, and by my final session after 6 weeks of therapy, I had close to full range of motion back in my thumb. Therapy sessions generally consisted of warming up the hand and joints, then massage therapy and mobilization of the joint, followed by various exercises. I wanted to do a lot of therapy on my own, so I could really speed the recovery process. So, in addition to all the work Mo did with me in therapy sessions, she worked with me to give me the exercises I could do on my own at home. Giving feedback, answering questions, and guiding me on the home therapy I did . If you really want to see the results from therapy, you have to be willing to do the homework. I'd say for every 1 hour session with Mo, I would do 5 hours of therapy on my own. My injury was to my dominant hand, and I really wanted to regain full range of motion and strength. I researched surgery recovery and therapy a lot, and from what I've read, the first several months are the most important, so scar tissue can be broken down and mobility restored. And you have to be willing to continue the therapy on your own after therapy. If you don't, you will not get the best results possible, no matter how good the therapist. Overall, it was a fantastic environment to receive therapy: Mo and her staff were focused and professional. I have done various therapy for sports injuries in the past, and many of my experiences were in larger PT offices, where you often get assigned to therapists right out of college, that either aren't as focused as they should be on the patient, or are still trying out new things they learned and dont seem to have much of a plan for therapy. Mo's office was the opposite, extremely attentive and had a detailed plan for my therapy. I would highly recommend Advanced Therapy Center to anyone that needs hand therapy. read more
