I looked them up and I was admittedly scared by some of the reviews of "neglect" and the place being a "hell on earth." I spoke to the doctor about my concerns, and I'm glad I did. He had said that he had been there himself and said that from what he had seen, the staff did an excellent job caring for their patients. He also mentioned that the people who are upset or dissatisfied were much more likely to leave a review than someone who were satisfied. I'm glad I listened to him. Mom received excellent care there. The staff were genuinely invested in her health, and just treated her as one of their own. I wish I could remember to name all of the wonderful and patient nurses that took care of mom. The nurses: Alyssa, Laura, and and Dr. Price, Dr. Davoudian, as well as Salve Bautista, and a host of others took excellent care of mom. I'm sorry for all of the people who have had horrible times there, but I was there everyday that my mom was there, and saw none of what they are talking about. Thank you to all of the well trained staff who made a difficult time much much smoother. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

1 Star I am writing…read morethis review to warn other families about what my loved one and our family experienced at Kindred Hospital South Bay in Gardena. My loved one was transferred to Kindred because we were told it was a good place for him to recover and regain strength. I trusted that recommendation. Looking back, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life. From the moment he arrived, communication with physicians was nearly impossible. As his advocate and primary caregiver for almost 18 years, I repeatedly asked to speak with the doctor responsible for his care. I asked day after day, but no physician ever came to speak with me. No one clearly explained his treatment plan, what was causing his decline, or what was being done to help him recover. It was not until my loved one was transferred to the ICU and I demanded a meeting with higher-level administration that a physician finally contacted me by phone--even though I was physically present in the facility. No family should have to escalate concerns to administration just to speak with a doctor. While my loved one was there, I watched his condition deteriorate. One of the most alarming issues was the rapid worsening of a severe pressure wound. We were shown photographs taken only days apart, and the progression was shocking. As his family, we repeatedly voiced concerns and felt that our warnings were ignored. As his condition continued to worsen, he began showing signs that deeply concerned us. I repeatedly questioned what was being done, asked for answers, and tried to understand why he was declining so quickly. Instead of feeling supported, I felt dismissed and left in the dark. I became so desperate to get him help that I called 911 twice from inside the facility because I believed his life was in danger. Despite my concerns, getting him transferred to an acute-care hospital became a battle. I spent days arguing, making phone calls, writing letters, filing complaints with health authorities, and advocating for someone who could no longer advocate for himself. After nearly a week of fighting for a transfer, I finally succeeded in getting him moved out of Kindred and into a hospital. There, doctors found multiple serious infections throughout his body, sepsis, and a fungal infection. Three days later, my loved one died. I understand that no one can say with certainty what the outcome would have been if he had received different care or had been transferred sooner. However, I firmly believe that the delays, the lack of physician communication, the failure to address our concerns, and the resistance to transferring him contributed to the suffering he endured before his death. The hardest part is living with the guilt. I trusted that this facility would help him recover. Instead, I spent his final days fighting to get him out. This review is not written out of anger. It is written out of grief, heartbreak, and a desire to protect other families from experiencing what we experienced. If someone you love is being considered for transfer to this facility, my advice is simple: avoid it at all costs. Ask questions. Demand answers. Seek other options. Trust your instincts when something does not feel right. For me and my family, this place was hell. My loved one was sent there to recover. He never came home.

Preferred Practice Talk & Play is the worst! We started going here last year because the person I…read moreinitially spoke with (Lorena) and my kid's previous therapist (Ciara) were both very warm and helpful. THEY HAVE SINCE LEFT AND THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE NOW ARE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE! Disorganized is an understatement. They had no other OTs in the entire clinic and could not find a replacement from November through late February. They offered us no other option for receiving services during this time, and kept stringing us along saying that another therapist will be there then cancelling on us at the last minute week after week. Even now it's almost April and they STILL only have one occupational therapist to handle "so many kids" who they can't fit into the schedule but will apparently try to charge money for anyway. The most recent OT hire is named Caitlyn. We saw her for two sessions last month--this is after my kid was put on pause because they didn't have any therapists available at all. In these sessions she didn't really interact with my kid. Part of our OT services include feeding therapy and the food container we brought wasn't even opened by the therapist at all. She could have easily communicated her plan to do this with a quick text beforehand knowing that the meal prep of bringing a combination of preferred versus non-preferred foods for every session takes time and effort. The following sessions after that were cancelled AGAIN because shortly after starting there the new hire went on a long vacation (which again was not communicated to me while I was there in person) then she called off sick prolonging her return back from vacation. Of course she shouldn't come in if she's truly sick but the way everything unfolded is questionable. They also did NOT offer any virtual alternatives. We tried to schedule a makeup with Caitlyn but she made it extremely difficult by suddenly removing available time windows, having a passive aggressive tone, and generally taking forever to respond--four days in between texts and two weeks since my request to be exact--which she only finally did because my kid had a scheduled session that day. Her long awaited response was disappointing and pointless as she just told me to redirect my questions to people that I do not know with no further info. I asked her to clarify and she never answered that either. My kid's session that day (after Caitlyn cancelled all other sessions this month) was very uncomfortable. Caitlyn also kept forgetting paperwork for every session that my kid was there. The makeup remained unscheduled and when I called the clinic about her regular session time, I was only met with more attitude. We were fed up with the clinic cancelling sessions at this point, especially since we had never once cancelled from our end. On the phone I spoke with the "Director of Operations" who introduced herself as both Monica and Monique. Monica/Monique was very dismissive, defensive, and condescending to me. She speaks very passive aggressively too. She said that we are lucky that they kept a spot open for us while they transitioned to a new therapist. In hindsight I wish we would not have been so understanding and patient while waiting for them. We should have left the clinic when the good therapist did! Monica also trash talked the therapist from last year. When I said that we weren't comfortable proceeding with the new therapist this week, she was quick to tell me that we shouldn't return and to find my kid's OT services elsewhere, as if it was only her choice not mine. We were told that they needed clients when we were first referred here but I can see why others would leave with this type of behavior. They don't have a big online presence so maybe that's how they've gotten away with it so far but I want to leave a review because I wish I knew all of this before we wasted all this time and energy here. Monica/Monique also said that my kid's authorization expired at some point after November while they were looking for a replacement, despite making me believe that my kid was covered this whole time--I asked before her previous therapist left and after. They also told me that they submitted a progress report last week which doesn't make sense given that they've barely scheduled us in since last year. They NEVER told tell me there was any evaluation taking place! When I asked for more information she refused and said this isn't something that they talk to parents about. They are so unethical and shady so be careful! Also note that unlike other clinics, this one has you directly text the therapist and there is usually nobody available at the front desk to check you in. If there was somebody, we were just ignored. Other clinics actually greet you, treat you with respect, and appreciate your business so please take it elsewhere.

I am formally reporting this facility for potential fraud and gross negligence in referral…read moremanagement. This provider has held my daughter's referral since November, yet failed to provide any services while simultaneously claiming that I canceled or missed appointments, which is false and unsupported by evidence. Despite my repeated attempts over the last weeks weeks to schedule and resolve this issue -- including countless phone calls and voicemails -- they failed to communicate or deliver care. As someone who works in referral coordination, I know that standard protocol requires that if a patient cannot be scheduled within a reasonable timeframe (typically 2-3 weeks), the referral should be closed and returned to the referring provider. This facility did not follow that protocol and instead kept the referral open for months without services, while later attempting to place blame on the patient. They have also claimed to send multiple emails and Zoom links that I never received, and they are unable to provide any proof of those communications. Meanwhile, I have documented proof of my attempts to contact them and confirmation from my daughter's doctor that the referral was active and received. It is extremely concerning that a provider would: * Retain referrals without delivering care * Falsely claim missed appointments * Fail to maintain accurate communication records * Blame patients for internal scheduling errors This behavior raises serious concerns about billing practices, record integrity, and compliance with state healthcare standards. Due to their actions, my child lost over two months of medically necessary therapy. This is unacceptable and warrants investigation. I believe this facility should be audited and reviewed, as their practices are harmful to patients and appear to be inconsistent with state and professional standards.

I was left waiting a month without a call. Then, without communication, they said my referral expired. Still, when we finally had a session, they never sent the link, yet counted it as an absence. I requested a reschedule due to school conflicts, which they accepted, but then another unfair absence was counted due to their scheduling issue. I ultimately decided to cancel myself due to the terrible service, as I no longer wanted anything to do with them. The disorganization and blaming the client for their mistakes was unacceptable. I do not recommend this company at all."i
