They provided use a chocolate box each which had 2 decadent chocolate. The staff assigned to us for the tasting was super knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. Tip: Don't come here expecting anything other than a Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak only makes Cabernet Sauvignons and offer only Cabs for tasting and for sale. However, they may offer you other types of wine as a complimentary tasting such as a Pinot Noir from Twomey etc.

We stopped in unannounced and were greeted warmly. Taylor was such a pleasure and she remembered my daughter & I from 2 years ago when she helped with our tasting. Not very often does a winery connect with visitors at that level. Says a lot about the culture here. Grabbed a couple glasses of champagne and walked the grounds to kill some time before our lunch reservation. Probably my favorite winery in the area. They are having a social hour on the terrace 3:15 to 5 Thursday thru Monday through the month of May. $10 a person waived if a glass of wine is purchased. Also small bites for purchase. We called the Robert Young estate and were able to seat us for a tasting! When we arrived the hostess gave us a splash of their sauvignon blanc and sat us right away. The list of tastings they had were pretty good; I believe it was a chardonnay, merlot, and 2 cabernet sauvignon. Tyler was a great host! He gave us a little history with the estate, and answered all of our questions (we're still new to wine). Although we came a little later, we did not feel rushed at all. The vibe was inviting and family friendly. There was a cozy fireplace in the front as well. We ordered a glass of Lyra Pinot Noir and a glass of Aries Chardonnay. My Pinot Noir was smooth while the wifey's Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing. The wine was great quality. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Marine Layer Wines. The staff was nice and helpful. We appreciated the family friendly environment. It was nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Christmas, by relaxing with a nice glass of wine.

They don't offer a wine club discount as you see that if you get your wine shipped. Their tasting room is located right in the heart of Alexander Valley and is surrounded by lush and vibrant gardens. It features a center tasting bar that is surrounded by beautiful artwork and a backwall that showcases their wine cellar. My friend and I came here for a tasting and we had a very pleasant time. Laura was our host and she was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines that she poured. She told us about the history of the winery and how it began. It was neat to learn that Medlock Ames was started by two college buddies while they went to school in NYC. Most of their grapes from their wines are sourced from their own vineyards in Bell Mountain. The majority of the wines that are produced here are small lot and limited production. Tastings are $45 and available by reservation only. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere here, I wasn't blown away by any of their wines. My friend is a big fan of their sauvignon blanc and I'll admit that it's tasty and probably their signature wine. It was odd that it wasn't featured on their tasting list, but Laura was nice enough to pour it for us anyways. I'm not usually a fan of merlot, but I actually enjoyed their Jefferson Clone Merlot the best out of all the wines that we tried. I just felt that wines were overpriced for the quality, but it could have just been that my palate didn't align with these particular wines. Despite this, I would still come back again to try more of their wines. Hopefully, I'll find something that I truly like here in the future.
