Well it's a new review for an older experience…read more Back in September of 2017 my nephew and I biked from the twin cities down to Madison staying in hotels along the way. Reedsburg was our last night so we preferred to stay somewhere nice. We were greeted warmly by our hosts Lorraine & Neil who let us park the bikes in their garage and let us know where we could get some food in town. After a nice dinner we went back to the clean and nice rooms and talked with our hosts about what we'd like for breakfast. I remember a great blueberry cobbler and some (homemade?) yogurt. Our hosts gave us some good insights on the road ahead and we rode on down through Baraboo, past Devils lake in into Madison. I'd definitely repeat the ride and particularly the stay here.

All the rooms (of which there are 4) are of good size, but only 2 have their own bathroom. The other 2 have to share, which isn't that much of a hassle in this kind of place, really. Unless you are really picky. The owners/operators are a super nice married couple who really go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfasts they serve are nothing short of spectacular and delicious without being froo-froo. Usually 4 courses, and all were excelent every meal. We always left the house nice and full! I also should mention that this place is pretty well located for quite a few tourist spots around the area, including the dells, house on the rock, taliesin, and a few others. Highly, highly reccomended!!

Really cheaply built as tile didn't meet walls, cheap woods throughout etc. That didn't bother me as much as the dust. Dust on the frig, desk, side table. Plugged in my phone at the bedside table and the carpet behind the bed was white coated with dust and cobwebs. Not hard to edge carpet, guys. Just lazy neglect for a newer property. Do better. No plans to return.

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.

The Birds Nest could easily accommodate 4 people and the Deer Meadow could easily accommodate 6. We really enjoyed the privacy of these cabins and spent a great deal of time on the deck enjoying evening cocktails and games and morning coffee. We had fun shopping at all the Amish shops nearby and took a morning canoe trip on the Kickapoo. Others in our group took advantage of the bicycle trails.

Checking in I had to wait for someone to come to the hotel to check me in. My 1st night I had to be moved because of bedbugs and bedbugs bits. Even told the owner she could contact the last hotel I stayed at to confirm no bed bug issues. Getting up the driveway after it snows is a joke especially when it hasn't been plowed at all and the owners had the nerve to ask me if the tires on my car were good. Yes they are good she said her husband would be back to plow before morning when Im just getting off work and lay some sand down and it never happend. Took me 3 tries to get up the hill because it hadn't been plowed.

Beds were also very comfortable as well. My only complaint - while it was nice to have A/C, it didn't work super well. If you've read any of my reviews, that's my thing: a $5.00 black light and examining the room before my bags hit that clothing rack. Also, I was told the region has an issue with a ladybug species. I even encountered this ladybug at the Army base, and there were a lot of them. Beware of the parking lot which was slick one morning due to ice and snow.
