I had no massive issues at the Hampton Inn. It is close to a Walmart and restaurants. I didn't have to drive X miles to reach civilization, and that's not always the case, especially when the weather is nasty and I have to be at Fort McCoy Army Bases, six miles from this hotel. So, it makes perfect sense to stay here. Of course, I did my black light routine, which didn't turn up any bed bugs, but there were unexplainable stains on the chair. If you've read any of my reviews, that's my thing: a $5.00 black light and examining the room before my bags hit that clothing rack. Also, I was told the region has an issue with a ladybug species. I even encountered this ladybug at the Army base, and there were a lot of them. Beware of the parking lot which was slick one morning due to ice and snow. read more

Don't stay in room 317. We made our reservations at 5:30 pm and arrived around 8pm. The air was not on in our room even though it was over 80 degrees out. It took until 3am to cool our room down. There was a smell of cat urine on our bed. Both myself and my husband had puffy, itchy eyes, sneezing and stuffy noses since we are allergic to cats. I talked to the manager who stated he's never had any complaints and wouldn't do anything about it. read more

Reserved over the phone. When I arrived there was a sign no pool. If they would have told me that on the phone I wouldn't have reserved. I was told I could use the pool next door. I wasn't interested because that was so inconvenient. It wasn't warm enough to walk over in my bathing suit. I asked if I could switch hotels and they said I would be charged for this room. I was on the first floor. I thought the person above would fall through the ceiling it was so mound I heard every step they made and the floor creaked. read more

Stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks in April. I checked in really late due to a late arrival flight at La Crosse airport and the older gentleman that was working that night was very friendly and accommodating. Check in was a breeze. All other interactions I had with front desk personnel were fine as well. The room was clean and worked out just fine for my stay. I stayed on the first floor all the way on the end of the hall by the ice machine. The desk inside the room was really wobbly and falling apart. The desk chair was really uncomfortable and really hard to roll on the carpet. The right hand arm rest must have previously broken because there was an abnormal bolt holding it in. The bed was comfortable. The TV, mini fridge and microwave all worked as they should. I did deduct a star because of the housekeeping for two reasons. First, the printout I got upon check-in said that housekeeping would come in on Tuesday and Friday every week. That didn't happen. They came every 4 days. Second, on two separate occasions of cleaning my room they sprayed some kind of pink stuff in the shower and it got all over my luffa and stained it. I am assuming it was cleaning solution but I didn't know what the cleaning solution was so I was a little nervous about that. I thoroughly rinsed my luffa in the sink before using it both times. Otherwise housekeeping was fine. Breakfast was included with my room rate (I think that's standard here), so that's great, but it left a lot to be desired. It was pretty much the same thing almost every day and there was not a lot of selection or variety. But, free is free, so no deductions for the breakfast. The laundry was just "ok". There is only one washer and one dryer on the third floor. The first time I went to use it there was a bunch of dirt and sand in the bottom of the washer and all over the inside of the dryer. Additionally there was dryer sheets and lint on the floor when I did laundry the first time, and it was also there, in the exact same spot, the second time I did laundry. So I assumed that housekeeping didn't clean the laundry all that often. Overall this hotel is ok. Not great, but it doesn't suck either. I would stay here again if I ever needed to (not likely). read more

Came to Wisconsin for some training in FT Mccoy and stayed in this hotel while there. Came to check in and the staff was very nice and helpful. There was some issues with my reservation on my employer's part, but the lady behind the desk helped me out with fixing the situation. The location is very well maintained and clean with a beautiful look to it. Now I was rarely on my room for the whole four days due to spending most of those days training but it was the best feeling coming to the room to finally relax. I'm not much of a messy person either so I hope I made it easy for housekeeping to do their job in the room, which by the way they did a tremendous job. I felt like I just barely checked in the room when I would come in. Best part is that it is walking distance from restaurants and a Walmart. This is a great hotel and definitely worth the price to stay. I highly recommend this hotel if you're ever in town. read more

I was looking to check in for few days as I got to the front desk no one was there I waited like 15 min and the guy came I said oh I didint think any one was working tonight he replied what do you want !! One of our stays was fine, with a clean, spacious room, though the breakfast bag was very poor (water, tasteless small apple, sugary "breakfast bars"). On checking in for our second stay, the desk person was not wearing a mask and did not put one on when it was mentioned. The customer service rep I called at Hilton Inc was sympathetic, but we did not hear back about their investigation for 2+ weeks and never did hear back from management at the specific Hampton Inn. Very pleased with our stay at Hampton Inn, Tomah. The rooms were clean and comfortable complete with a mini refrigerator and microwave. The front desk staff were very pleasant and check in was a breeze. Breakfast was your standard hotel fare but enough to get us on the road without having to stop at a restaurant. My son gave the waffles two thumbs up. Oh and.... the water pressure in the shower was strong and steady (a must). All in all a great stay for a quick mid way vacation stop. read more

Top notch hotel. We were on our way home from Rapid City SD last fall and looking for a place to stay near the MN/WI border. The Hampton Inn in Sparta WI was more than $100 more per night for the same size room, and hotel rates in the LaCrosse/Onalaska area were just as ridiculous. Hampton Inn Tomah is as clean as it gets, they have a nice clean pool/jacuzzi and lobby for catching tv. The rooms are catering, sizeable, overly clean and AFFORDABLE. The staff was also highly professional and helpful. Small town, big city style hotel. This place couldn't be better! A+ read more

By far the nicest place to stay if you are choosing a hotel in Tomah. It seems brand new, and all the rooms are modern and clean. The lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful, and it looks like there is a very extensive breakfast included. Rooms come with flat screen TVs, desk with Ethernet hook up, free Wifi, fridge and microwave. The bathrooms are huge, clean and very nicely decorated. read more

What happened? Stayed here 3 times in the past 18 months. It was very clean and well above average! Last nights stay required change of room due to ability to hear everything from the room next to me to a ground floor room that was musty, sticky bathroom floor, and heard the person walking around the room above me. Left me very disappointed in a property I thought was a gem on my way from Chicago to Minnesota and fell to the bottom of the many Hampton Inns I stay at around the USA. Front desk staff was as helpful as they could be, but they are not having to endure a night in their own hotel as a guest. Madison Hampton Inn property saved me and my opinion of Hilton tonight. read more

We stayed on the 3rd floor for this visit. The room was clean and most of the staff was super friendly. However the king size bed was so hard it felt like I was sleeping on the floor. The disposable cups in the room did not have plastic on them. The room only had 2 bath sized towels. I know it sounds like an odd thing, but I wish they had more garbage cans throughout the hotel. Usually I can find some close by, like at the elevator or side door, but not here. In the past the stay was more comfortable, but not sure if management changed or something. The room was also a noticeable amount more this trip too, especially for staying during the week. I have family in town but may be staying in LaCrosse next visit. read more

We stayed here last weekend en-route to Milwaukee. Well, it is nice that this is the half-way point so we would only have 2.5 hours the next day. I checked in online so got a room on 2nd floor for a large king room with sleeper sofa. It was around 9PM so had some time to do some swimming while my wife got some work done in our room. The pool was a little small but got to relax a bit in the pool and hot tub. We wanted some ice for a late night drink and pretzels. But, the ice machine is all the way at the end of the wing furthest from the lobby. This didn't make sense to me as well as the guy who told me that I had to walk all the way to end of the hallway from the lobby. After the drinks/snacks and brushing my teeth, I crashed on the bed after a long drive from work. I did wake up to hear footsteps above us on the 3rd floor. The next morning, we woke up early at 6AM to get breakfast before driving to Milwaukee. The selection was a bit lacking with no eggs at all not even hard boiled eggs. Fruit selection was even worse with brown bananas and tiny red delicious apples. At least, there was oatmeal and cereal with milk. For tea selection, only the Nestea bags with green tea as alternate choice. Otherwise, I found the Alexandria Hampton Inn to be a lot better with good egg selection and vanilla soymilk plus huge orchard apples was a major plus. I have stayed at hundreds of Hamptons and all other Hilton properties all over the USA and the world and although this location is quite new, it was sort of strange. Check out is at 11 AM when I thought it was usually noon? As a diamond member I always get free bottles of water in my room but not here. The typical Hampton breakfast had the instant eggs, potatoes, waffle maker, fruits and breads like normal but no meat to be found which was strange. Usually they have these sausage patties but none on our morning. The pool was small with very cold water but was clean. The rooms were also clean but ours was a large king that had this enormous large open space in the middle of the room with a small TV across the way which seemed weird. I think they were supposed to put a couch in there also to help fill space. The staff seemed friendly. The pros were that the two rooms we had both had little fridges and microwaves in them and the bathrooms were larger than a typical older Hampton has. The price was under $100 per room when we stayed which seemed reasonable. read more
