It's no more than a mile from the 4th largest lake in Wisconsin, castle rock lake, and they have a nice bait shop that's open 7 days a week from 7a-7p. There are a few golf courses near by, snowmobile/ATV trails right across the street and even airsoft/paintballing 1/2 mile away! There are a lot of activities around the site as well volleyball, playset, horseshoes, custom made basketball hot shot and our favorite, sitting around a nice bonfire and seeing all the stars. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.

Tucked down the road from the spectacular Petenwell Bluff along the Wisconsin River (the "Meskousing"), is a little side road with a hidden gem. We arrived with empty cantankerous stomachs as the sun set, looking to grill up peppers, beans, kielbasa & kraut over the communal fire pit. However, the historically intense heat has left Wisconsin's forests dangerously combustible - so no fire for us. We thought we'd lost hope. Suddenly, a sweetheart polish mother of another brother came to the rescue, offering to cook our bounty - "I go inside, 10 minutes, no problem". Incredible. Dziękuję!! - (jen-key / Thanks). We hung out in the woods eating Kielbasa with Polish walleye fishermen as the stars and planets shined above. Was able to get drinks and refills with not too much of a wait. Buffalo Wings were solid. The clubouse had a very good patio, was cool to relax out there after our round with a bourbon. Condo was nice and clean, few amenities, balconies that back up to the fairways. The replica holes were a fun challenge. There was a very nice lady who cleaned our clubs while my group finished the 18th hole. The not so good: For what you're paying for on this course, I expect a little more. Half of the ball washers were empty, none at all had towels. Water coolers on the course were entirely empty on a hot day. Greens were not very well kept, all kinds of chunks taken out of them. Beverage cart was few and far between. One of the guys who worked there had some pace-of-play comments to make to us, even though we were keeping up with and pushing the group in front of us. Overall, had a good time but at those rates, hope you make it a little more worth our while.

If you've read any of my reviews, that's my thing: a $5.00 black light and examining the room before my bags hit that clothing rack. Also, I was told the region has an issue with a ladybug species. I even encountered this ladybug at the Army base, and there were a lot of them. Beware of the parking lot which was slick one morning due to ice and snow.
