Breakfast was much better than average for a free hotel breakfast. The room was very clean and neat. Beds were fine. Now here was the big problem. The wing we were in was extremely musty to the point I was getting concerned about what I was breathing in. I think the ac unit just added to the problem. Ended up sleeping with the window open......which not everyone would feel comfortable doing. Now when I mentioned it to the staff they did offer me a room a few doors down but that room did not smell a whole lot better.....apparently nothing else was available. Now it had been extremely hot with high humidity the several days before our arrival. The hotel had fans going in the hall which was our first clue there was a problem. The smell of the room was tolerable but just barely. Clearly an on going problem.

Pluses: Good location for Spring Valley attractions. Good breakfast, nice lounge area, good pool…read more& exercise room. Friendly staff Minuses: Lousy wi-fi, and the area is in a cell-phone hole as well, so you really notice it. But the big complaint was were the incredibly damp and moldy accommodations. Strong smell of mold in our room and to a lesser degree the hallway. Any clothes that we had hanging in the room got damper by the day. As other reviewers have noted, every room needs its own dehumidifier. Carpets should get ripped out and air conditioners checked for mold. This is a health hazard and made our stay much more unpleasant than we expected.

The rooms all have different names & themes which are lovingly and impressively done. It's a great place for a family gathering as there's loads of outdoor space: 1) large Fire pit in back, 2) Gazebo with lawn games, 3) picnic tables. Then, in front are the BBQ grills and several different-styled patio tables, as well as, 2 colorful nostalgic metal chairs directly outside each room. Lovely landscaping & flowers everywhere. Don't miss the bubbling brook just alongside the South side of the lounge and a peaceful spot to read. We visited Devils Lake Park, a diner in Baraboo, and an escape room in the Dells area. It's nearby lots of attractions. Oh yeah, the family that owns the joint are really nice

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.
