Cowboy Joe is one of the owners and you can tell how much time, love and care goes into maintaining the property. The cabin's are warm, cozy, clean and stocked with everything you could need. They even present you with homemade chocolate chip cookies upon arrival that were incredible! I do recommend bringing all of your food necessary for your stay because the cabin's are extremely secluded. Any businesses are about 20-30 min away and even then, what IS there is extremely limited. My husband and I were prepared for this, so it didn't detract from our stay whatsoever-I say that as an fyi for future guests. The porch with rocking chairs was our heaven so we could read and listen to the sounds of nature. We highly recommend staying here! You won't regret it!

I was able to sleep in, read, sit on the porch and watch the deer, and wander the area and property taking photographs. For someone who works 7 days a week, this was a wonderful respite and time with nature. The owners were helpful and kind. Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

There weren't a lot of instructions on where to find the remotes to the various electronics including the fan and the wifi did not work at all. The firewood was a bit expensive at 10$ per bundle. It was a small cozy little cottage and the owners made sure it had all the things you might need for a weekend getaway. The cabins are set in the beautiful hilly area of Driftless of Wisconsin and has absolutely stunning views. Might fo back to try a different cabin.

This place is stunning!! A perfect home away from home…read more We are a group of travellers, most of whom are government contractors at Fort McCoy, and are living here for an entire month. We were so pleased that this worked out, as Tomah does not exactly have a wide variety of corporate housing or even any nice hotels! It appears to me that there are 4 houses, all located around Birch Lake. The compound is extremely private, and each house has it's own secluded area, driveway and boat dock. The lake has 3 small beaches, and I believe that there is an inflatable "splash island" and trampoline in the summer.... and there is no one else around! The town of Tomah is only a 10 minute drive away, and fort McCoy is about 20. I would recommend this for anyone working on base, and also to vacationers who want a peaceful and relaxing stay on a lake. We are in the largest of the houses, and I have only seen one of the other ones. Both of these houses have hot tubs, boats, fully equipped kitchens, and large Tvs, and I am sure the other do, too. We have 6 fully furnished bedrooms, and also a ping pong table! They all have outdoor BBQs and fire pits, and stunning views of the lake. The Landlord is super friendly, and handles everything very professionally.

The Paradise home has the best view of the lake from the 6person hot tub in the sun room! The home also has a great fireplace, living area, and extremely well stocked kitchen with all appliances. Direct TV as well! There are beaches on the lake and each house has a paddle boat and a row boat. There are also fire pits and firewood is available at the house for $4 a bundle. There is a small walking/hiking trail around the lake and the property is surrounded by quiet and beautiful farmland.

The canoes and kayaks that they have are on a trailer sitting in the back corner of the site with no one offering to bring them down. I'm guessing they were assuming that you would just throw them in the back of your pickup truck? The campground is really just a narrow strip of land. If you step off your campsite you are standing in a small road. If you step off your campsite in the other direction you are standing in a big road. I never met anyone representing the campground during the entirety of our stay. The town is within walking distance but the general store was closed the whole time as were all the other businesses. There were life jackets hanging in an open shed with a soda machine and a vending machine that probably hadn't been filled in a year. There is firewood and its quiet. Not for kids. Only if you have your own boat or have some other compelling reason to be in that town.
