Dave and Trudy are such warm and helpful hosts, making you feel so cared for and pampered. The Inn is so beautiful and immaculately clean with a view you never get tired of. We stayed in the Birds Nest room which was just perfect for us. Amazing view, comfortable bed, tub with spa jets, separate toilet room and two sinks - just perfect! Trudy is an amazing chef and Dave is the friendliest server at breakfast, serving up fresh baked goods, yogurt/granola, juice/coffee/artesian water, fresh fruit of many varieties, and the most delicious and lovely presentation for main courses. We were so impressed with every breakfast. At 5:30 pm every evening, Dave hosts "happy hour" in the Indigo Lounge, where you can sit at the bar, take in the view and enjoy some fine wine and a really delicious charcuterie plate put together by Trudy. Dave is great to talk to and has so many recommendations for the area. We took most of his recommendations for what to eat and drink at restaurants and were not disappointed! The grounds are beautifully manicured with so many trails and an outdoor spa (which we enjoyed a couple times while again taking in the view) and there is a sauna and exercise area inside too. We would love to come back and enjoy Dave and Trudy's amazing hospitality.

I did not expect the owners to treat me and my wife like honored guests in their own home, but that's how it is. Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

She said it was on the website, but 6 adults missed it and we were there specifically to swim in the pools with the grandkids. The breakfast/community room as also dark and roped off. We asked about that and in a snippy tone she said it would be open in the morning IF there was staff availble to supervise (!?) As we were about to sign the form for check in, Linda said this was private proterty and she could have us evicted and call the sherriff at any time. After hearing that, there was no way we could subject our kids and grandkids to that kind of treatment. We stayed at a hotel down the road and were treated with respect and hospitality, swam in their pool and spent time together in their community room. I'm hoping to get a refund of some kind from the reservation we made, but it's already pending at our bank and Linda absolutely refused when we were there. I'm not holding my breath, since I called customer service right away when we were refused compensation from Linda. Customer service at Best Western just called Linda and came back to us with the same response. Too bad, so sad, you should have read the fine print in the run on sentence about electric vehicle charging not working! No email for confirmation of reservation or trip reminders mentioned, oh, by the way, the pool is closed! My lesson is, we will never, ever stay at a Best Western again and I will share our story when ever we can. Best Western sent a review email this morning, which I responded to with our full experience.

They said that I needed to have told them by 3pm the night before or I will get charged tomorrow night. I have been traveling for work for decades and this is the first time I have seen a policy like that. I did not book the hotel, I used my work's travel agency so I could not know that hotel policy. I will certainly provide that feedback to the agency. I explained my situation to the Sparta BW Front Office, but there is no budging from the rep. When I asked if I can escalate it, they said they were the GM. Calling the main Best Western customer relations office yielded them calling the hotel and being told the same thing. They explained that not all Best Westerns are the same and they have never seen that policy as well. See pictures. I'm solo and have short hair. The shower had long hair on the wall. The view out the window is super-dirty and full of debris, both manmade and natural. I would have not have made this an issue typically, since I"m just here to sleep while working, but with this and the horrible customer service - I have to rate this hotel at a 1 star. I typically stay at a Marriot, Hilton, or IHG. I have never had this issue where if I have to change my travel due to unforeseen circumstances and I'm telling them the day before, that I would get charged for the following day. Unfortunately this experience has left me avoiding Best Westerns in the future.

This place is stunning!! A perfect home away from home…read more We are a group of travellers, most of whom are government contractors at Fort McCoy, and are living here for an entire month. We were so pleased that this worked out, as Tomah does not exactly have a wide variety of corporate housing or even any nice hotels! It appears to me that there are 4 houses, all located around Birch Lake. The compound is extremely private, and each house has it's own secluded area, driveway and boat dock. The lake has 3 small beaches, and I believe that there is an inflatable "splash island" and trampoline in the summer.... and there is no one else around! The town of Tomah is only a 10 minute drive away, and fort McCoy is about 20. I would recommend this for anyone working on base, and also to vacationers who want a peaceful and relaxing stay on a lake. We are in the largest of the houses, and I have only seen one of the other ones. Both of these houses have hot tubs, boats, fully equipped kitchens, and large Tvs, and I am sure the other do, too. We have 6 fully furnished bedrooms, and also a ping pong table! They all have outdoor BBQs and fire pits, and stunning views of the lake. The Landlord is super friendly, and handles everything very professionally.

The Paradise home has the best view of the lake from the 6person hot tub in the sun room! The home also has a great fireplace, living area, and extremely well stocked kitchen with all appliances. Direct TV as well! There are beaches on the lake and each house has a paddle boat and a row boat. There are also fire pits and firewood is available at the house for $4 a bundle. There is a small walking/hiking trail around the lake and the property is surrounded by quiet and beautiful farmland.

The second floor includes two bedrooms, a large family room, full kitchen and a deck. Very nice! The bathroom was large with a whirlpool for two. All of the furniture and decor was top notch. The beds are very nice Amish oak and the sheets were very high quality - smooooth. Everything was very comfortable! Outside the house we had a grill, swing, fire pit and lots of land to hike. Breakfast is not included in this suite but it was no problem making arrangements with Nora for a couple of mornings. We enjoyed talking with Pete, Nora and other guests - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia being represented this weekend. While relaxing at the Inn is no problem I would strongly recommend two side trips: 1) The Shrine to the Our Lady of Guadelupe in LaCrosse. It is a one hour drive and it is amazing! Check it out on Yelp. I put up some photos but they don't do it justice. 2). Pete and Nora had suggested two places to eat in the area. The pizza at the Country Gardens motel was darn good and the prices for pizza and the other menu items was darn reasonable. It's about 15 minutes away in Soldiers Grove. If you want 5 star food then you need to keep driving another 15 minutes to The Driftless Cafe in Viroqua. The Beef Tenderloin was Outstanding and the desserts (especially the carrot cake) were excellent too! Prices are a bit higher but well worth it for this very fresh and delicious meal! We heard from other guests that they went biking on the Sparta railroad trail and had a great time. Next time we'll bring our bikes.

We got to Dubuque, IA and started looking for hotels in 100 mile radius - EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED! So I started "Yelping" I saw this B&B had 5 stars and we know why ! It's immaculate! Gorgeous grounds, kept in perfect condition. We arrived late, and was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Pete. We all introduced ourselves and then made way to our cabin. It's a two bedroom adorable, good sized cabin. First bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bedroom has a queen bed, there is a large futon in the living room. Bathroom is good size with a stand up shower. The sweet cabin has a full size refrigerator and nice kitchen. It's very clean and well cared for. If you are in the area, don't pass this up!
