We've stayed at Marriott's in several cities over the past 25 years. While we have always enjoyed our stay at a Marriott hotel, this one was a bit underwhelming. If this were not a Marriott hotel, I would probably add an additional star. However Marriott has a history and standard of excellence that I didn't feel was fully met at this hotel. Check in and service was excellent and efficient. The lady that checked us in was friendly and even offered us an option for a room on one side of the hotel or the other. We had reserved a double queen room. The room was decent sized. Again based on experience from staying at other Marriott hotels, it was a little smaller. The TV was much larger than the average TV. There was a mini fridge which is always nice as we like to pick up some items for our room to have on hand. The real disappointment was how small the bathroom was. The bathroom was so small, if I wanted to watch TV in the bathroom, well lets just say it would either be the TV or me, NOT BOTH. On the plus side the shower did have good pressure which is important. I like a nice hot shower but not one that lasts 30 minutes because there is no water pressure. The other disappointing aspect was their beds. The beds are outdated and not as comfortable as other beds we have slept on at other Marriott hotels. The parking was overflowing. They have a small lot on one end of the building and a larger lot on the other end. There is also some street parking. We ended up parking in different locations throughout our week stay as finding parking was challenging at times. Our cost for a 4 night stay was just over $700.00. I also feel that is a bit high and we even selected a city view room as opposed to a river view. The hotel itself is in a great location and within walking distance of several points of interest. There is a nice river walk just outside the hotel which is popular for walkers and runners. Not a bad stay, just not quite what we have come to expect from Marriot. read more

1. Room: Reserved junior suite with king bed for 2 adults. Arrived early around 2pm. We were told the only suite available is wheelchair accessible. From past experience, the floor in the bathroom floods when using the shower. It did. We didn't book such room, and if that was the only room left, we should have been told at the time of reservation. There were other hotels available. Only bedroom area had a window, the living (sofa) area had no windows - dark room, even with lamps on. Too loud AC, only one under the window unit, blowing freezing air on-and-off all night next to bed, just like "back in time...". No AC in the living room. No closet door; your belongings are exposed for everyone to see. Drawers in the bedroom chest keep sliding open when not in use. 2. Cleaning: on the second day by 5pm the room wasn't cleaned; I was told it is the hotel's policy to clean rooms only every other day. We were not told at the time of reservation, nor was this "policy" reasonably expected. During two nights stay we had no cleaning service, not even garbage pick-up. Using our towels to keep the floor dry, I had to go to the pool and bring dry towels. 3. Pool: tile inside the pool needs good scrubbing, and follow-up regular cleaning. 4. Food: lobby area offers limited breakfast menu and few evening bar food options. Did not try given the size of the hotel (67 rooms) and possible low turnover in food supplies. Radisson next door has a full kitchen and menu. 5. Bathroom: besides the flooding floor, the mirror has a light built around it blinding when looking at it, defying the purpose of seeing yourself in the mirror. 6. Supplies: bare minimum, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. No lotion... nothing else. 7. When exiting the elevator on the 3rd floor, every day there was 5'x4' dumpster full of dirty linens and another bin with dirty/wet towels parked in the same spot for hours. That's in addition to cleaning carts used by employees. I was told by the supervisor that it stays there until all 67 rooms are cleaned. Dirty linens and towels don't belong in the hallway, in guests view, especially every day, for prolonged periods of time. The total cost for 2 nights was $740. The manager sent me another bad "attitude" email. Not appreciated. read more

If you're in town for business or pleasure, this is a great hotel just a block off the beaten path. I typically have to go lowbrow in the Fairfield, sometimes get a bump up to Residence Inn but Courtyard is like the Ritz to me when I'm on business. This hotel features a great view of the Mississippi River from the western facing rooms. I was in 315 and the view was spectacular. I'll post a photo. There is coin laundry ($1 a load), "room service" from Piggy's across the street (see that review). Free parking is available. There is a bar downstairs that has appetizers in the evening and inexpensive local beers (2 for 1 in the early evening). Try the deep fried cheese curds. Heaven on earth. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was well kept, including the pool and hot tub area. It's obvious the hotel used to have balconies, as there are sliding doors in the rooms.... The problem is, no more balconies and the doors have been permanently shut. Kind of a bummer as it would have been nice to open up the door and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and watch the barges go by. Oh well. Definitely a keeper. read more

Room was loud! I could hear people in hallway, and the flush from every toilet around me! It was clean, but stains on carpet. Don't waste your money. Almost 300.00 for an old, dimly lit, small room. Courtyard by Marriott is tucked away on Front Street, almost under the bridge to La Crescent. It's got ample parking, yet is still just steps away from the Downtown scene. The hotel is nice, but on the small side. Only one elevator for the whole hotel! Rooms are comfortable, but the bathrooms aren't made for anyone bigger than a hobbit. The best part of the hotel is the pool area. The pool and hot tub overlook the river. You can walkout to an area with benches and a fire pit. I would love to come here on a nice summer evening. read more

The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to walk through Riverside Park or to restaurants and bars downtown. It's easy to find and parking is ample. We had a room that faced the river which was relaxing to watch. The grounds are well groomed. There is a back patio/deck next to the river that is nice when the sunshine is out. The staff are helpful and friendly. We loved staying here and will continue to do so when we go back each year. read more

Great view of the river. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling off the wall which didn't look good. The person that took my reservation said they had free Starbucks coffee in exchange for not having a continental breakfast, but when I asked for one in the morning, I was told free coffee was not published and I had to pay for my coffee. read more

Great hotel for several reasons! Mind you, I stay at a lot of Marriotts across the country. 1. Staff - The staff are very well trained (props to management). They will go out of their way to make you comfortable. Their shuttle driver has taken me to places other than the airport, front test helps me get ahold of any item, and they are flexible with request. Honestly, just ask them. 2. Location - Best place to experience downtown La Crosse. You're right at the end that gets ugly, but the river front park connects to the hotel, leading to miles and miles of trails for a run. 3. The bistro - I love sitting by the Mississippi (the river is overrated by the way... at least this section) and having a beer after a day's work. There's a fireplace and nice lawn furniture. In the mornings, I walk down and grab breakfast and Starbucks coffee. I'm guessing that there are better places in town if you're hunting for cheap, but this place is awesome from a business perspective and weekend getaway. read more

Pretty happy with my stay here. Decent place, clean, nice pool and hot tub (not sweltering hot like some hotels) and the location felt nice and secluded on the Mississippi River. The on-site restaurant is actually Piggy's, which is across the street. The bed was comfortable and the staff was very friendly...right down to a maintenance man I ran into on the elevator. No frills but nice. Go for it if you can get it at a Priceline cost. My only gripe: I got the room via Priceline ($56) and usually when you get a hotel room via Priceline or Hotwire, you are asked what type of room you would like when you check in. I planned to get a room with one bed (King or Queen) but was automatically given a room with two double beds instead. The clerk informed me that it wouldn't be possible to switch room-type because I booked online; upgrades weren't possible either. read more

Was at this location Sep 2013, loved the area...lots of eateries nearby and they have a nice lounge at the hotel itself. Service was fantastic. Rooms were gorgeous. I had to leave a note to the housekeeping attendant for more sugar and coffee sachets but they remembered to do it every single day of my stay there. Loved it! The bar is pretty nice to for some late night drinks with friends. Their breakfast choices are good as well. This location overlooks the bridge and the pathway along the river is great for a run or walk during the day. read more

My review would be a 2.5 actually. Not my favorite Marriott experience. The rooms were more expensive because of the event so we paid well for this trip. I went there to stay for the Oktoberfest Celebrations in Lacrosse. I had two rooms rented and one of them I could barely ever get into because the door handle didn't work. The sink area seemed very cramped. The pool was very small and so was the hot tub. The hot tub had a pound of sand on the bottom of the floor. The windows in the pool area quite honestly were filthy. Had they been even remotely clean it would have been beautiful because the view is overlooking the bridge and Mississippi river. I seriously wanted to clean them myself. Cobwebs and dirt everywhere. I bought two Bloody Mary's from the bar. The bartender had quit and never showed back up (I was told) so the General Manager made them. They were $10 and very small. They consisted of Vodka, mix, and a stick of celery. Now because I am naturally a very positive person I will point out the pros. The back patio was very cozy, they had a shuttle bus that ran every 30 minutes to take you to and from the Fest grounds and the people (employees and guests) were extremely friendly. When I come across kind people it makes any experience better in the long run. I probably will not choose this for my next Oktoberfest experience. read more

Right on the Mississippi.. not sure if that's the attraction as it's pretty much underneath a huge bridge. Rooms are adequate, if a little dated and doesn't seem as if this was originally a Courtyard. Towels and toiletries were always properly replaced and the rooms were left neat. It's pretty decent proximity to most of the good bars and restaurants in downtown. 3 stars for your typical Courtyard, friendly neighborhood, no frills hotel and probably the best option for business travel in La Crosse. read more

Was so close to a 5, until check out time.. We got there late on a Saturday nite, and the 3rd shift front desk guy was great.. Even explained the sport of curling to me while we waited for my husband to park the car. He explained all about the amenities of the hotel and where to find everything.. nicely decorated with a Starbucks in the lobby.. Rooms were spacious with a pull out couch, but the bathroom was a little smallish, but that's the only slightly negative thing to say. Location was very cool in a restored area of downtown, with a great restaurant (piggys) across the street. Then as we left the next morning at 1100 on a Sunday morning and walked toward the Starbucks/bistro area, a girl comes out and said "we're closed"... Knowing that the very pleasant 3rd shift guy said we could get Starbucks all day, I questioned her , and she said well if you want coffee, I can serve some of that.... we said no thanks and drove to Panera... it would have been fine if she had just rephrased her comment and said we aren't serving food, but can certainly get you coffee... I will never give a 5 if rudeness is involved, or maybe just lack of customer service knowledge... Sooooo close, yet so far away.. Remember a chain is only as good as its weakest link.... read more

This hotel is your basic Courtyard as far as looks and decor. What I can't seem to understand is how a hotel that primarily services business travelers does not have high speed internet. Even when you purchase a "faster" connection it is still slow as molasses. This is a huge inconvenience especially if you're working from the room and staying here for several days. read more

Military discount is great $83.00 a night Sunday-Thursday. Regular price 149.00 Friday and Saturday night. Very clean, great location , staff makes good Starbucks Coffee and the bar is nicely stocked for those who would like a few drinks. Overall a pleasant experience and will stay again. read more

The hotel was OK... Somewhat outdated. When We checked in, my coworker with no status was upgraded to a suite. I am a Gold member and got a regular room. Bistro was overpriced. The first morning the lady that waited on me was not friendly at all. When my Starbucks was ready, she just sat it on the counter without saying anything. A customer told me it was ready. No exhaust/ fan in the bathroom and temperature in my room would not adjust below 72. No microwave in room or common area. Probably will not stay there anymore. read more

I received a gift certificate for Christmas from my boss for a one night stay in room with king bed and city view for Lacrosse's Marriott. Beautiful looking hotel. Tucked under bridge, most people who aren't from area don't know where it is. They were remodeled a couple years back. Lobby looked beautiful. I saw they have a Starbucks and bistro but never bought anything. Does NOT have complementary breakfast. Was placed on 4th floor. Stayed on Saturday night and room was very quiet. Room was absolutely beautiful looking and bed was comfy. The thing I hated was the tiny bathroom. The only cleanliness issue I found was a hair in bathtub. Did not visit pool. Left before 6am in morning, was surprised to find Front Desk girl vacuuming so early. Probably wont be back again because of how expensive it is. read more

A very nice location, and friendly and attentive staff. Unfortunately the operators have chosen penny pinching over air quality and turned off the bathroom vent fan. I always check bathroom vents by laying a piece of tissue against it, and sure enough it did not hold it. A bathroom without ventilation is just plain disgusting, but some hotel operators could care less. If you have ever had a bad night's sleep in a hotel room it is likely an air quality problem. The bathroom fan should be pulling air through the room and refreshing throughout the night. When the air doesn't refresh you have poor air quality, and a bad nights sleep. But, it cost money to heat, cool or dehumidify the air drawn in, so the bad operators opt for economy. Of course the buildings engineer is gone for the evening, and I bet his bathroom fan works at home. Most Courtyards are very good about air quality, but not this one. read more

We loved our recent stay at the courtyard Marriott La Crosse. We stay each year over the 4th of July and this was the best year yet. The hotel was renovated last year and the upgrades are superb. The outdoor patio is beautiful overlooking the Mississippi River. The pool and hot tub were just the right temp. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms where sound proofed, the beds were very comfortable. You definetly could tell the staff (Monica-front desk and Jeff- janitor)were very proud of their hotel and they were eager to ensure the guests were all having a good time.
