    Bird Room
    John C.

This place is great. It is a Frank Lloyd Wright lovers motel. There's so much to say about it. First off, the beds are comfortable and bedding is very clean. The last place I stayed was a Super 8, and this feels like heaven compared to that. The halls are lined with Frank Lloyd Wright drawings, and photos of his buildings. There's a lovely lounge with large windows and multiple bird feeders outside. It is known as the "Bird Room". The breakfast was good too. They have the typical motel food; cereals, yogurt, toast, coffee, etc. But then also have something warn, like eggs and sausage. When we were there, they also had a pastry called kringle. It was good! For us, the best part was probably the pool area. It is indoor and a very nice 84 degree temperature. There's also a hot tub, sauna, steam room and exercise room. We spent hours in the pool each day. The inn is just down the road from both Taliesin and The House on The Rock. It only took us about 5 minutes to get to Taliesin for our tour.

For me, this was a very quaint time capsule of when I would go vacationing with my family as a kid. Full disclosure, if you know you're the type of person to prefer a clean, brand new hotel, this will disappoint. You will not like this. You might be more critical and feel it is overall more dirty. If you like the "retro" look, you'll probably be thrilled and love it. Due to the age of the hotel, there's a lot of little things here that you no longer see in modern hotels. Recessed lighting, room divisions between bedrooms (instead of all the beds being in the same room together), a kitchenette with a mini fridge that has an actual freezer! According to my friends, the beds were not very comfortable, but I slept like a baby quite easily. Different strokes etc etc. We used the hotel pool and jacuzzi as well. Again, it's built in the 90s, it's not the newest shining thing, but I stayed cooking in that jacuzzi for several hours (with appropriate breaks, I swear), so I have no real complaints there. The staff was always very kind and attentive. No complaints there. There aren't any branded hotel chains in the area, so if you're not willing to risk it trying out a totally independent inn, the House on the Rock Resort is an excellent choice.

My wife and I had a great time at the resort, but it's been 3 weeks since our trip, 5 calls, and we still have not received a refund. Completely unacceptable, scammy behavior. I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS PLACE AGAIN.

Our experience at the Round Barn Lodge was not just about accommodation; it was about being embraced with a level of kindness and care that can only be described as gracious hospitality. Kathleen and Abby at the front desk are not just friendly; they are compassionate souls who went above and beyond to assist us when our vehicle had a minor hiccup during our stay. Our room was both comfortable and spacious, with lovely lighting, plenty of electrical sockets, and a gorgeous fireplace, and it was all immaculate and well-cared for. Everything was in excellent condition; the room even smelled clean and fresh. We had a stunning window view with vertical blinds and a lot of room to move around. Our deluxe King room also held a very nice mini-refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker and supplies, a lovely and spacious dresser and large mirror above it, and a sizable desk with a matching chair and four electrical outlets above it on the wall to plug in my laptop and chargers. The large bed had two lovely bedside tables with lamps, which were ample enough to set my CPAP on, which was greatly appreciated. There was so much storage space, including a lovely closet with a folding wooden door, hangers, extra pillows, and a luggage holder. The bathroom was spotless, with ample space and a nice shower. We appreciated all the additional amenities that came with our room and could not have asked for better. They have an indoor swimming pool that is up to five feet deep and kept immaculately clean. It was a nice way to relax at the end of a long day. There is also a coffee shop/cafe attached to the hotel that is open in the mornings until early afternoon (it currently closes at 2 p.m.). It is exceptionally lovely to visit. The Round Barn Lodge is a beautiful, family-friendly haven that my wife and I are delighted to have chosen for our vacation. We've stayed in many hotels before, but none have been as friendly and comfortable as this one. If you're planning a stay in the Spring Green area, this is the best value for your money. The rates are not just affordable; they are highly affordable, ensuring that you get the most out of your vacation budget. They have more than ample parking, and it is a very secure hotel in an area with a very low crime rate. They have many security cameras around the lodge to keep an eye on things at all times, and we felt very secure while staying there. It is by far one of the friendliest, cleanest, and most comfortable places I've had the pleasure of staying at, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you so much for making our stay in Wisconsin a great one despite our vehicle troubles and for going out of your way to be kind, respectful, and professional all at the same time. What a fantastic place to stay!

When I first saw the listing with the excellent reviews and history of the house I felt this would be a fun place to stay. After spending the four nights my initial feeling was right on. This was the perfect place for our family to stay. Kathy greeted us when we arrived and helped us figure out where to have dinner that first night. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11. Those rooms have their own private bath and are on the second floor. It was as though we had a family apartment. The adults room had a king sized bed and the children shared a queen. Their room had a scavenger hunt within the stone walls, which they really enjoyed. After dinner the boys played table tennis and pop shots basketball. Kathy also treated them to an ice cream cone. Very sweet. There were also plenty of board games to play in the evenings. Breakfast was yummy and coffee aplenty! They do offer WiFi, but no screens, so it is easy to bond with your family and have some quality time together. This location was within walking distance to the swimming pool/park and Pendarvis (which is still closed). It is about a half an hour drive to House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds, and Taliesin. Lots of fun side stops on the way to any of these places. Kathy is an awesome cook. We feel so fortunate to have met her, Dan, and Bobby Jo on our trip. Mineral Point is a beautiful town and I thank them for preserving and sharing such a wonderful Wisconsin landmark with us.

Dave and Trudy are such warm and helpful hosts, making you feel so cared for and pampered. The Inn is so beautiful and immaculately clean with a view you never get tired of. We stayed in the Birds Nest room which was just perfect for us. Amazing view, comfortable bed, tub with spa jets, separate toilet room and two sinks - just perfect! Trudy is an amazing chef and Dave is the friendliest server at breakfast, serving up fresh baked goods, yogurt/granola, juice/coffee/artesian water, fresh fruit of many varieties, and the most delicious and lovely presentation for main courses. We were so impressed with every breakfast. At 5:30 pm every evening, Dave hosts "happy hour" in the Indigo Lounge, where you can sit at the bar, take in the view and enjoy some fine wine and a really delicious charcuterie plate put together by Trudy. Dave is great to talk to and has so many recommendations for the area. We took most of his recommendations for what to eat and drink at restaurants and were not disappointed! The grounds are beautifully manicured with so many trails and an outdoor spa (which we enjoyed a couple times while again taking in the view) and there is a sauna and exercise area inside too. We would love to come back and enjoy Dave and Trudy's amazing hospitality.

Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

Bathroom was very clean, especially the tub. The bathroom mirror rocked! Breakfast was not lousy tasting but basically meh. Donuts were mini chocolate hostess ones and only 3 or 4 in the container. Muffins were mini ones as well and again just a few. Sausage was nuked brown and serve that were super pale. Eggs were decent as were the bagels. English muffins were tiny and they had regular sliced bread. I was suspect of the cream cheese not kept on ice or at least cool. A few sad envelopes of oatmeal. I was reminded of early hotel breakfast days. Just felt sad.... I went to get a yogurt out of the fridge and there were only two in there. How about more? And why not some nice danish? An actual full sized donut? As for the fruit, just a couple of bananas and apples.. again, they seemed to do just enough to get by. We ate there twice and then skipped out to Country Kitchen for breakfast. Honestly, just okay. I appreciated the cleanliness but it felt closer to a Super 8 vs a Best Western.
