We thought we would have a quick dinner before going to the movies across the street.Everytime we drive past, we always said we need to check out Garcia's. Well, tonight we did. It was very causal inside and we were told to pick our own table from the mostly empty restaurant. The place has been in business for 50 years and the decor looked very outdated.. We were greeted and ordered our beverages. I had sweet tea and something about it tasted "off". The chips of the chips and salsa tasted stale. I ordered the chili relleno and asked for rice only, no beans. I had clarified this with our waitress when ordering because when she repeated back the order, she messed up. I was served it with beans, and asked her to take it away and bring back with what I had ordered. I got it now with rice. They were small 2 very small relleno and nothing special. Not much cheese inside. My dinner mate enjoyed the chicken tacos and took most home. Now that I have eaten here, I can say "One and done."

Chicharrones Burrito

I've been to a few other Garcia's restaurants in town, but I have not been to this one yet when I came in the person at the front was extremely friendly and helped me right away and I had to say the burrito was phenomenal and I really really enjoyed it And there's a reason why Garcia has been around for so long in this town. They are really good.

Breakfast Burrito smothered in Christmas and Carnitas with eggs over easy smothered in green. Small side of chicharrones.

Andy Garcia's legacy lives on. He started Garcia's in 1975 and the family continues on with several restaurants scattered around Albuquerque. Today we ate at the Coors location. My wife had the breakfast burrito with bacon smothered in Christmas. I went for my standard Carnitas and eggs over easy smothered in Green with a homemade flour tortilla. A small side of chicharrones rounded out our meals. Bam Garcia's continues to deliver quality food almost 50 years after opening.

Stopped on here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was clean and the service was fantastic. The food came out pretty fast and was hot and fresh. My wife had the Flautas and they were definitely home made. They tasted great. I had the Huevos Al Mexicano. That was also delicious and had just the right amount of spice. Definitely give this place a try

Always love coming here when I am visiting the Albuquerque area. The food is so fresh and so good. I've only been for breakfast. Had the omelette with bacon and whole beans the first few times. Loved it. The beans are so good. This last time I had a stuffed sopapilla which was pretty good. Love the green chile. Always spicy but never too spicy. And the flavor of the green chile is so good. Looking forward to returning. Next time I am getting some Carne Adovado.

Carne adovada breakfast, pint of chicharrones (always) and a fajita burrito!

A family FAVORITE!!! We've been going here for decades... always the same delicious food. Breakfast is a favorite and for lunch we always hit the fajita burrito!!!!

The first time we ate here was for an afternoon meal, today it's Sunday morning breakfast. There is a definite difference between the 2 different times. So it was the Chorizo con Huevos Omelet style and the Menudo. The chorizo was ok - a little too salty tasting. The menudo was great. A little greasy (expected) but not overly so, well spiced and with a nice amount of pansa. Service was great considering how busy it was. We'll be back for breakfast.

Garcias is OK Mexican food, it's not the best in town - it's also not the worst. It's pretty consistent normal Mexican-American fair. However if you don't order off the menu, and you ask them for a fish taco, Be prepared for an unexpected treat! They are TASTY! however if you come on a Sunday night at 7pm, and you happen to be driving by and you see not one, not two, but THREE "open" signs in the window, AND a tv on, and you think "oh it's pretty dark, but it looks like they're open..." and you pull into the parking lot... THEY ARE NOT OPEN! A-holes

It always looks like there's going to be a wait, but there never is. You go to the counter, place your order, find a table, and they bring the food right out to you. This place puts a unique and delicious twist on classic breakfast dishes, and everything we tried was outstanding. You can immediately tell they know exactly what they're doing. They even make their own English muffins, and they are to die for -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. We loved them so much we even bought a bag to take home. I also had a blood orange Jr. mimosa, which was off-the-charts delicious. Everything here is fresh, fresh, and more fresh. The bacon deserves a special mention -- phenomenal, cooked to perfection with amazing flavor. Whether you're craving something sweet or leaning toward the savory side, you're completely covered. If you're on the fence about coming here, don't be -- you will not be disappointed. Before leaving, we stopped to share our experience with the manager. I was really happy to see that the menu clearly marked the gluten-free options. I originally decided on the chilaquiles since they were labeled gluten-free, but I asked to confirm that the chips weren't fried in a shared fryer. Unfortunately, the girl taking our order said they were, so I switched to the huevos rancheros. She wrote on the ticket that it was a gluten allergy so they would take extra precautions and prepare everything separately, which I really appreciated. My husband ordered the duck hash and said it was absolutely delicious! My son and his girlfriend got a burger and a Cubano sandwich, and they said both were amazing, they especially loved the French fries! My daughter ordered the Americano with a gluten-free waffle and loved it. My huevos rancheros were just okay, I wasn't too impressed. Definitely something I would not get again. The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.

And plenty of ways to customize your order to taste and for the size of your appetite. The main drawback, as others have noted, is that the location where they've been for decades has grown steadily bleaker, with a sketchy feel even during broad daylight. I say this as someone who lives in a rural setting but who has lived in some of the biggest cities in the world and as a person who's not easily scared off by "rough" neighborhoods. It's perfectly safe, but you want your wits about you as you come and go. Service is fantastically efficient, friendly, and thorough. Really good food, based on my single experience -- I had a pancake, an egg, and sausage along with coffee, and I ordered the "Santa Fe" style pancake. It's made with blue corn meal in the flour, along with piñon nuts and a little cheese, and it's a very satisfying meal in itself. I left full and ready to go back if I find myself in that part of Albuquerque again with an empty stomach.

There were many picnic tables to eat outside and it was a small building, so most people were eating outside. The Inside When I first walked in it felt nice, people were talking Luckily not too loud. Then I looked around for where I placed our order and I easily found it. *It was right in front* Ordering So then I ordered the item "Just buttermilk and cream", and then I asked for a side of syrup and bacon. And I got an orange juice for my drink. Then I walked down to the patio, it had lots of greenery. Which was nice because the patio wasn't so exposed, and it had some sort of glass which blocked out the sun which also was very nice. And they gave me my orange juice right when I ordered it which was different in a good way. The Drink So I found a table where I sat down and sipped my drink ,unfortunately the drink was a bit cooler than room temperature. But I wanted it to be colder than it was, however the plastic that they used was hard and secure which felt nice in my hands. And at the near end of my experience it was getting pulp in it which was not pleasant. The Service My food came out in about 4 - 8 minutes. The food And when it did come out it looked really good. It was a big belgium waffle which had tons of whipped cream and strawberry slices, and the bacon looked nice. My first bite was of the bacon, unfortunately it was a lot more chewy then I liked my bacon. And then I grabbed my fork and cut a piece of my waffle, dipped it in some syrup, and then I took a bite. It was AMAZING, it was sweet but not too sweet. The syrup with the softness of the waffle was so good, and the waffle was easy to cut. The VALUE So what I got with the item was a big belgian waffle, lots of whipped cream, and over 15 strawberry slices for $10. I would say it's worth it. And I am pretty sure that I've seen smaller waffles items for the same price at other restaurants. Conclusion Overall, It was a Really good experience. Good value, Great food, Great service, and an okay drink. I would go back to Waffletopia. My only Suggestions are :If you come expect a big portion and don't get the orange juice Which leads to my star ranking. 4.5 Stars

I had to pick between savory and sweet, and the menu is huge with lots of options plus build your own! I went for savory and got it with goat cheese and spinach (built my own). It was delightful. The blue corn is just a tinge sweet so was an interesting mix. The waffle is a decent size but is super filling and dense. I'll have to try some sweet waffles or some different waffle bases next time! That said there are lots of gluten free options as well, so if that's for you, then don't hesitate to come check it out you won't be disappointed. There is indoor and outdoor seating, though in general the place is small-ish and can get crowded during busy times. Parking is also a bit of an adventure, but so is anywhere in that area. The staff is super friendly as well. All in all a great experience and I will be back. I can't believe it took me so long to get here in the first place!
