One of the biggest reasons we chose it was because they advertised a dog-friendly patio. Before being seated, my husband specifically went inside to speak with the hostess because rain was expected soon. The hostess acknowledged the forecast, and my husband said we were completely fine sitting under the patio umbrellas as long as the restaurant was okay serving us outside. She assured us that it was not a problem. We were seated on the patio and intentionally looked through the menu quickly because we wanted to minimize the server having to come outside in the rain. When the server came out, she immediately commented about the weather and was clearly upset about having to serve the patio. We were sympathetic and tried to be as easygoing as possible. What happened next was honestly bizarre. She pulled out her notepad and just stared down at it without saying a word. We ordered drinks and then sat there in silence waiting for any kind of acknowledgment or follow-up like, "What would you like to eat?" After about 15 awkward seconds, she finally looked up visibly irritated. I ordered, she wrote it down without saying anything else, and then stormed back inside. At that point, we decided we no longer felt welcome. We brought the waters back inside and told her she could cancel the order. Her response was simply, "Are you sure?" The entire interaction consisted of maybe six words total from our server. We later called to let the manager know what happened. While they did apologize, the only solution offered was for us to place a to-go order instead. That completely missed the point. We weren't looking for free food or special treatment -- we just expected basic hospitality after being explicitly told they were happy to serve the patio despite the weather. This entire situation could have been avoided if the restaurant had simply told us upfront that patio service during the rain was an issue.

Great Food, Great Server Livia, great atmosphere, great location, and cleanliness was great. But…read morefor my wife's and I anniversary I wanted to play the junk box at 4:45 PM on March 10, 2026, to play Music Groups, Aerosmith, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", and Savage Garden, "I Knew I Loved You". So I approached the juke box, and the bar tender Whoever said, that this is a family-owned restaurant, and they don't play the juke box during the day, because it is a family restaurant, but they have the Game Room, playing crude country music that doesn't respect the family, and they say my music is going make trouble. Plus they can have restricted stuff from not playing, instead, I felt singled out as a guest there. Yes, you can have your double standard rules, because this is America, and the freedom to do whatever you feel like, but that does not mean I have to go there to be singled. I don't have to go back there. The first time was great in January, but on my wife and I anniversary of 26 years, I think I can find a place where I feel more welcomed. It is always the case of passing a great place down through the family, in order for it feel unwelcomed of the glory days. Yes, I know this place has been around since the 1990's, but it is a very unwelcoming place. You can act nice, while showing you didn't want us there. They said it was because Karaoke was at 7PM, while a minute song at 4:45PM. While they didn't even know what songs I was going to place. Again, I thought it would be an old-fashioned feel. Thus instead, I felt the Cold Ridged Religious Feel that was a double standard of Gambling Rooms and so forth. Yes, I went to seminary and everything else, but I am going to let everyone choose their own path. They have their ridged rules, but that does not mean I have to eat there, especially for anniversaries. It is not an anniversary or a place for specially occasions. Again, it doesn't bother me one bit, because I move on, but I am raised with certain values to tell what I believe. My wife felt the onion soup was too breaded and cheesy. They had a great Salad and Gluten Free Pizza. And the bathrooms are clean when I went in there, but I don't feel welcomed there. Like you're a stranger that should never return. I just wonder.

The rice and broccoli was swimming in the glaze and therefore tasted like it. We also order zucchini planks. They were well presented but were way too salty and I like salt! It was noisy as happy hour was going on. We had hope to be in the dining area which has an outdoor dining area. Our server was efficient and very nice. That was the only thing good about the experience. The 2 people I brought were unimpressed and said they won't be back. I will as I know the salads and sandwiches offer some good choices.

We tipped her well. Our food, yes we had eight people with simple orders but over AN HOUR wait? The restaurant was empty and bar had 4 people drinking beer. None I mean none of our food was served warm. How sad. This is bar food...That's my pet peeve. My dad's fish was so well done that it was black and he couldn't break it in half with his hands hardly, the worst ever. We couldn't understand HOW COULD the COOK send it out like that ??? So dad got to watch us all eat. When we were done, his came out. Nope, NEVER Again. We went out of our way to go there. So disappointed. I chose the place for my dads and sisters birthday celebration - HUGE mistake.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Debra, the manager, whose passion for the bistro and its mission was evident. She was incredibly informative, sharing not just details about the menu but also the unique farm-to-table vision that makes this place stand out. We decided to relax on the porch, taking in the panoramic views of the Terrace Gardens while enjoying a seasonal cocktail. The setting was serene--an ideal spot for a light and refreshing meal. We shared the Burrata & Tomato Tapenade ($18), a flavorful dish of fresh burrata cheese, roasted tomato tapenade, grilled crostini, fresh basil, and a drizzle of fennel oil. It was the perfect combination of rich, creamy, and herbaceous--simple yet elevated. What sets the Garden Bistro apart is its commitment to using regionally sourced produce, free-range chicken and eggs, grass-fed beef, and handcrafted bread. The menu features options for a variety of dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegetarian selections. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available, but I highly recommend the porch if weather permits--it's an unbeatable view paired with a truly relaxing atmosphere. The next day, our curiosity led us back to the Bistro--this time to visit the connected GrowLab. What an inspiring experience! The GrowLab is more than just a greenhouse--it's a hub of innovation, where Oglebay is redefining sustainable farming. We learned about the park's hydroponic technology, which allows them to grow everything from herbs to strawberries on-site, without soil and with minimal water. It's a forward-thinking, environmentally friendly system that supports the Bistro's fresh, local menu. The impact is impressive: over 200 pounds of produce are harvested weekly, and with nearly 4,000 plants grown in up to 89 hydroponic tower units, it's a model of efficiency and ecological mindfulness. Even more commendable is Oglebay's effort to educate guests. The GrowLab offers a living classroom experience where visitors can learn about sustainable agriculture and its role in addressing food security. Oglebay's commitment to sustainability is not just a tagline--it's deeply embedded in everything they do, from the gardens to the plate. Dining at the Garden Bistro and exploring the GrowLab made for one of the most unique and memorable experiences of our stay. If you're visiting Oglebay, do not miss this gem. Whether you're a foodie, a gardener, or someone who simply appreciates fresh, flavorful cuisine in a beautiful setting, the Garden Bistro and GrowLab will leave a lasting impression. This is sustainability done right--and it tastes as good as it sounds.

The only one currently available on the menu is something very odd. It looks and tastes like apple cider. Ridiculous to call that wine. I used to enjoy the asian salad. Today, the only salad option was quinoa and kale, which was completely flavorless, with one of the worst dressings I've ever tasted. My aunt ordered the avocado toast, which was a hot mess, with a sour tasting avocado spread. I ended up having a watermelon cocktail, which was tasty for the first couple of sips, but couldn't have had any alcohol in it. Not sure I'll return after such a disappointing day.
