Came here on a Monday for $13.19 unlimited bowling + free shoe rental. This is not your neighborhood family-friendly bowling alley since it's 21+. There's kind of a retro vibe here, and it's apparent that the technology is a bit behind the times. Our group split into multiple lanes, but our lane kept breaking and the pins would not be replaced. This happened several times before we were moved to a different lane. There were $5 food specials with classic apps like sliders, chicken tenders, etc. Even though that's cheap, I'd probably go somewhere nearby in Cap Hill for food. Overall, I still had a good time, but the bowling quality here is just not up to par due to the deteriorating machinery. Located in Capitol Hill, the Garage is a huge space that offers $18/hour for a bowling lane on Tuesdays and Thursdays ($4 for shoes, $2.50 for socks you get to keep) and $12/hour for pool tables. We came here around 9pm on a Thursday night and opted for bowling. They have 14 lanes for bowling, and these were some of the best oiled lanes I've ever played on. I'm not that good of a bowler, but was able to get spin on my throws more easily on these lanes hehe. It's $30/hour for a bowling lane on Friday and Saturday nights and the lanes get very busy, so I recommend coming on a less busy day. The place, including bathrooms, doesn't feel too grimy, which is pretty good for a late-night games and drinks establishment! We didn't try any of the drinks or food, but I can definitely say that it's worth it to check out the Garage for some bowling/pool fun! read more

Garage is kind of a novelty. Huge, tons to do, decent decor, drinks and staff. I've had really, really bad experiences with food here. Left almost an entire pizza (cold and totally unappetizing) and plate of fries. Pizza and fries are probably the easiest of bar foods to prepare. If you can't do those, I fear for Garage's other offerings. They're also pretty expensive, from socks/shoe rentals to pool. There are a lot of other places to play pool on the hill, a lot of them free. Sadly, there aren't a lot of other places to bowl, though. Try to hit happy hour or late happy hour for lanes when it is a better deal. Staff always seems knowledgeable and the perfect mix of attentive and not in-your-face. Lots of bathrooms, diner-like area in the back behind pool tables, and pretty outdoor seating with fireplace, although the outdoor area is shut down for construction right now. read more

I was in charge of organizing a team outing for our rather large team and we all agreed on checking out the Garage. I had done team events here in the past, but never officially hosted or organized with the Garage team. I worked with Emily, the event manager to ensure we had the best available package for my team. She helped us coordinate the lane rentals, shoe rentals, pool tables, drinks and buffet. It was a wonderfully painless process as she was so organized and helped me understand the many options. The team on site was ready for our arrival and were absolutely awesome! The bartender made some amazing drinks, had good conversations with us and was just awesome to interact with. The other staff was very attentive and made sure our glasses and plates were never empty! If you are looking to host an event in Seattle, this is such a good option! It really caters to everyone's interest. Lots of seating if there are people that aren't interested in bowling or pool. There is also a great outdoor patio! Honestly did not stay long here. Noise is insane, seating is almost impossible to find, and there is little to no help to be found to order anything. Tried to even go to the bar but after being 4th in line for 20 minutes I gave up. I get that this area is busy on a Saturday night but we walked in by the pool tables and slowly moved all the way to the other end of the building and not one person that works there even said hi. Came here once with my boyfriend when we were touring around the city of Seattle for our birthday weekend. We enjoyed the patio and some sunshine which we were told we were lucky to get in early May. The outside bar area and patio is chill AF and the security guard told us where a local med shop was! Score! The bartender was nice also... The pool tables were in good condition and the inside is an old garage and cool vibe with high ceilings.. Came here again with my coworkers when I came earlier this year for business... we all got food and it was bomb. Recommend! The bartender even let me charge my phone, so sweet. Came here on a Saturday at 7 pm a group of 5 - we had since Living Social vouchers that we bought a looong time ago, so we took the opportunity to get rid of them. Security cards you at the door, so have your ID ready. We put our name on the wait list for the bowling lanes and decided to head to the bar for drinks, since we were only 4th in line. They give you a buzzer to notify when a lane is available for your party, which is pretty neat and a lot more efficient than yelling names. While you wait for a table, you can play some pool or go to the dining area to buy food and drinks. Our buzzer went off a little after we got our food and drinks. It was a little annoying since the server helped us close our tab and told us we could bring or food and drinks to the lane - however they offered no help in moving our drinks so we did that ourselves. We got the following: - Nutty Lebowski: 2 of us got this. Pretty sweet but I love hazelnut liquor and it had goods flavor. Didn't seem very strong, but I enjoyed this drink. - Poutine: This is actually really good - instead of the usual cheese curds they add globs of goat cheese which went well with the shredded meat. The gravy wasn't super thick and soaked into the fries. We got the order for 2 which was actually larger than we expected. You're definitely going to need forks for this. - Truffle Potato Chips: Went great with the pitcher of beer we bought and was easy to eat while bowling. The bowling alley itself is pretty nice, not too divey like some bowling alleys around Seattle. They even gave some TVs next to your score monitor so you can watch the local sports game. No kids allowed so no rails, so be prepare to gutter ball sometimes and look like an idiot. Spacing between the lanes is kinda tight - there are only 4 seats, which worked since one person was always up bowling. There wasn't a lot of space to store our shoes and belongings, but luckily we were on the side against the wall, so we had done extra space. The other downside aside from service is the system of picking up bowling shoes - they need more than one person. We had a friend who came later and got stuck in a long line while trying to get bowling shoes; we already had a bowling tab open and were ready to bowl. Even my bf and I had a hard time getting shoes since we got stuck behind a long line - when our buzzer went off, our other friends left to secure the lane rental while we moved the food and drinks to our lane. Make sure your entire party is there to pick up shoes, otherwise you're wasting time - you pay by the hour after all. Unlike most bowling alleys, the per hour rate is pro-rated so you don't have to stay for the entire hour. Bowling is pretty expensive here on a weekend unless you go during Happy Hour, but it's a fun experience! I would come again for the food, drinks, and nice bowling. I know this place has bowling but I have yet to go bowling here. The three times I have gone, we have only played pool. From what I have heard it can be super busy to get into the bowling area so I think it's awesome they have such a large pool table area. So many tables! We played for a few hours, ordered a couple of drinks, and some appetizers. The hummus plate comes with a bunch of finger foods on it. Good hummus for those vegetarians looking for a small bite to eat. My favorite was the dessert. I wanted the chocolate cake because, well it's chocolate cake! They were out of it and I am super happy they didn't have any left. The waitress suggested the banana tart and I said sure why not. Wow, that was seriously the best banana tart I have ever had. The crust they make or use, whatever it is, was to die for. The banana cream with the shaved chocolate and that crust were top notch. Everyone loved it. And that being said, I can't wait to use it because the $50 includes alcoholic drinks too, and many deals like that don't... There's so much going on at the Garage at any given time. They have lanes to bowl, bars to drink at/socialize at, pool to play and maybe even shuffleboard? I forgot if there was or not. But anyway, the place is HUGE so you never feel like it's super crowded unless you're confined to the upstairs room or something. Every time that I've been here, the bartenders have been super friendly and nice. Parking isn't as bad as the rest of Cap Hill either since it's closer to the hospitals so there's lots of street parking. I love the garage but was disappointed with their bar service. I asked for a punch bowl and the bartender said it was illegal to make in Washington because it had more than two shots (how do you make a Long Island then?). The second time I went up I ordered a blended drink, off the of the menu, to which they told me their blender was broken, and I quote "not to be a dick but if you ask anyone on the hill to make a blended drink they will be a total ass and refuse" so I just changed my order and reduced my tip percentage but wish I hadn't given a tip at all. Updated review: Garage was recently acquired by chain bowling company Bowlero, and it might as well be a whole new business (and not in a good way). They no longer offer craft beer on tap (Blue Moon is the closest thing they have to Widmer). The happy hour has become unreasonably complicated, with some good deals ($2 Tuesday), but their old happy hour was CONSIDERABLY better. The food itself has degraded in quality, from what I considered top tier bar food to what tastes like grocery store frozen section food. The service was subpar (it often took 30+ minutes to get a new drink) but I don't blame the server, as it seemed they had 1 bartender and 1 waitress for the entire outside area + about 1/3 of the massive inside area. Garage has gone from one of my regular spots to somewhere I don't plan on returning. read more

We went here for an MBA happy hour, and I wish they'd told us we could bowl and shoot pool! Sadly, that's where the fun part ended. We had the upstairs room, which was pretty cool, but service was a little spotty, and the food was pretty generic. We hadn't eaten for hours and were starving, so of course it tasted delicious, and it was certainly plentiful. Veggies, pasta salads, fried chicken, pizzas...what it lacked in inventiveness, it made up for it in quantity. And honestly, for the West Coast, the pizzas were not too bad. The bar was the weird disappointment - we could have well drinks, but anything that took more than one type of alcohol (including vermouth) immediately bumped it. Bartenders were friendly (the server that told me was less so), but overall not bad. There is only one bathroom upstairs, and it is gender neutral, but the downstairs ones are easily accessible. Worst bar place ever! We will never come back here ever again. Take our advices and read this before you go so you're prepared. Here are the reasons why this place was bad for us: 1) they're soooo understaffed and you can totally tell. They're missing at least five people tonight when my boyfriend and best friend came today. This shortage meant that there was a long waiting line for us to get drinks and food. Not to mention, my boyfriend ordered only french fries and it took them 45 minutes to give it to us because it was so understaffed. 2) we waited 1 hour for pool and 2.5 hours for bowling, which is fine because it was a Saturday night at 6pm, but while we were playing pool, someone came and took our drinks away without us knowing!!!!! We were busy playing pool so we didn't notice that a waiter or staff member came and took our drinks that were about half way full. We were very disappointed that they did that without our permission because we paid so much money for those alcohol! 3) they don't serve a variety of alcohol drinks. Not even popular basic drinks like pina colada. 4) they're only strict about Covid regulations at the entrance! They check your Covid vaccination or negative Covid test in the beginning and a valid ID before entering the place but, once you go inside, literally 70% of the people barely wore masks (no they weren't eating or drinking). 3) lastly, the worst thing here was the customer service given to us by the main white blonde bartender tonight!!!!!!!! Gosh, that bartender was extremely rude and petty as hell. I'm sure other Yelpers would agree as well. My boyfriend came back to order more drinks and food, spent over $30 on the bill total and didn't tip because earlier they took over 45 minutes to deliver his one COLD FRENCH FRIES. When my bf came to order drinks and foods for the second time without tips, the bartender rejected his order and said something like "hey man, it's rude to put $0 on a tip. Generally Garage is fine for bowling or pool especially in a small gathering. However they greatly failed me when I scheduled a large meet up group to bowl in 3 reserved lanes in the basement room. Basically one of the lanes malfunctioned and a third of the group basically couldn't play. It worked intermittently, but by the end of the first hour or so people gave up. It ruined the meetup group's experience at the venue. They wouldn't even give us a full refund for that lane. I had to refund people in the broken lane out of my own pocket as they basically wasted their time coming out to Capitol Hill on a Friday night of all times. Horrible customer service. read more

With our whole trip coming an end, this place was an absolute bast! A bar on the patio; as you enter, is just as charming as it gets. The pool hall was fun and inviting; full of laughter and excitement. My Husband and I found a bar in the pool hall. This venue totally rocks the vibe of a place dubbed 'Garage' with the Antique steel working equipment, and good mood lighting; serving as a delightful ambience. The drinks are fun and colorful. We typically do not indulge in sweet drinks, so we asked to make adjustments to them. The bartender was on his A Game that night. -Dylan made us Moscow Mule variant. He called it a 'Pink Summer Mule'. Served pastel pink, and in a cute, mason jar-mug. My husband was shocked at how fast he can serve up a margarita. Most venues will have you waiting for drinks at a table. We're most certainly used to waiting for drinks for 10-20 mins. This place delivers We the alley sampler. And My goodness! we only came for the food. 13 of us descended on Garage after a tour of the Frye Art Museum. we didn't have a reservation but at 3 pm seating was not a problem. our server was upbeat and helpful and patient. the food was definitely a higher level than i expected from this giant (and very cool) pool hall and the adjacent bowling alley. our orders were taken efficiently and the food arrived in a timely manner, hot off the grill. garage burger: the 1/3 lb patty seemed much larger to me. this was one of the best tasting beef patties i've had in a long time. i would make a trip to eat this burger. medium was nicely pinkish in the middle. fish and chips: declared delicious poutine: pulled pork on top of all the other good, messy, tasty stuff. no one could finish their plate and took at least half of it home. deviled eggs: the only disappointment in spite of the candied bacon topping. the green onions clashed with the egg and the bacon. but, they were shared and eaten up . french fries: crispy! with a dusting of flavorful seasoning. substituted caesar salad with spicy chicken sandwich: HUGE amount of salad. most of it was taken home. oh, the spicy chicken sandwich was declared very good i see complaints on the difficulty of getting tables and lanes on a busy night and i can understand that frustration. but, in terms of the food, the Garage uses high quality ingredients which makes every day "tavern" food exceptional. if i was on capitol hill and i was hungry, i would seek out Garage read more

**FAR FROM COVID SAFE** In Short: NO social distancing, shared consoles and balls with strangers, side by side with maskless bowlers. I was extremely hesitant to go bowling while a pandemic was still in effect, but my sister convinced me with their website's insistence on safety and social distancing. Nope! While there's plastic between each bowling section, you're still sharing a console and ball return in the same space as another party. Impossible to keep 6 feet distance, let alone 2. They allow 6 per party but there is only tight seating for 5 in a very enclosed space. When we asked them how we could make sure balls weren't mixed in the ball return, especially if we were bowling the same color/weight, they seem confused at the question. They told us balls were sanitized before we came. ....hmm, so that means it's safe to share balls with a bunch of strangers who are eating finger food? Also, if people are eating and drinking they weren't putting masks back on to bowl, putting you between many maskless bowlers. For those that still feel like going and plan to make a reservation , I leave you with a final tip: Reserve the lane for 2 because you have to pay full price for everyone upfront, no refunds. However, we learned you can always add, but you can't take away. We paid for 6 and only 5 could come, 6th was sick. Good thing because they wouldn't be able to fit them anyway. Not only could we not get a refund, we realized they never gave us their pre-paid drink tickets. Overall, very disappointed at Garage (and myself for thinking any bowling establishment cared enough about safety). We are back here for another PAX after party! The food was good but instead of the chicken tenders, what stood out for me this time was their BBQ ribs! Even before waking in, I smelled the scent of tasty meat and they did not disappoint! The bartenders were friendly and the servers took away empty plates quickly. Drinks were reasonably priced as well. We still didn't get to play bowling but it was fine since our legs were pretty tired from standing all day at PAX. However, we did play one game of pool. I love this place and it's a pretty nice walk of about 20 minutes from our hotel, Crown Plaza. I look forward to going back here next year! read more
