I went to their website to see if I can get a quote for an oil change. Someone contact me over the phone and I told her that I just want to see how much it cost for an oil change. She told me that they do oil changes but she needs to transfer me to a specialist for the price. After answering a lot of questions she transfer me to a specialist and asked some same questions, then transfer me to another specialist. The other specialist just told me that they do not have oil change services and hung up on me. such a waste of time. really poor service. read more

Update: I had gone back around Thanksgiving 2019 for a new tire to be shaved down and purchased. Garage One went out of their way in offering ways to make the car service work and provide various options on how to get it back, while my schedule was chaotic. I really appreciate their level of customer service! Garage one was recommended to me by a colleague who would drive out of his way to get service from them. Had a flashing cel, didn't have time to check it out nor did my code reader say anything. Asked them to look at car and do a diagnosis, I said it's misfiring with a flashing cel and I can't read code. $160 later they tell me that my engine is misfiring, and have a possible blown head gasket, And it will cost another $160 to find out definitely. Took car from them, changed coil packs, no more misfire. Thanks for telling me what I told you for $160 I was no better. Horrible customer service, terrible "diagnosis", had a very bad experience over all. read more

About 7-10 years ago, I would have given Garage One a 5 star when it was a smaller business and when customer service was fantastic. I have noticed that it has not been the same since. The customer service lady was rude and was trying to answer questions that a mechanic would know. She said we never heard of an ABS sensor issue before and therefore questioned my wife. We took it to the dealership and they said that it was common issue We wanted to avoid going to the dealership service but the lady at Garage One being rude was a turn off. I came here to get a 2nd opinion on an estimate that I received from another local Subaru specialist. That place charged me a flat $150 to diagnose what was wrong with my car. They came back with a really detailed report of all issues + estimated cost to repair. I took my car to Garage One and happily paid $160 to have them diagnose my car. When I got the call in the afternoon that it would require me another $320 to further diagnose the car, I was rather disappointed ($160x2 for two separate CEL codes on the transmission & engine). When I paid the $160 I was hoping that's all I would need in order to get a diagnosis, but instead I was out $160 and the option to further diagnose my car for an additional $320. Not the worst experience, but it was unexpected. read more

Just from talking to Agnes about suspension and exhaust modifications for my newly purchased outback XT was enough to build trust. So when my other outbacks clutch died two weeks ago, they were my first call $1062 out the door for a new clutch is a steal. My wife ended up dropping off the car. Folks at Garage One made her feel welcomed and did not pressure her to buy additional services. One thing to keep in mind, Garage One does not have a waiting area, nor do they have a bathroom. Instead, we received a complimentary rental car for the day! I'm not sure if this is their standard service, but a pleasant surprise. We tried Garage One for the first time because they were the only ones that really seemed to understand how my Subaru Outback worked and weren't going to "trouble shoot and see if that works" to address our mechanical concerns. They were spot on and told us about some other things that our older Subaru needed. While most services places will do this, they were actually correct about what needed to be done and made their recommendation in order of immediate to low priority. This was helpful as our budget did not include last minute repairs of any notable size and with this information I am able to plan ahead. I was also impressed with the positive atmosphere in the waiting room. I had to wait while the work was being done as my car is my only form of transportation. The waiting area was calm, relatively clean and allowed for me and my 2 children to sit and do homework and other work while we waited. The wait was as quoted and it seemed like we were in and out in a timely manner. With antsy kids at dinner time, not having to wait was a big plus. We had a very positive experience at Garage One and will likely be back when the next issue arises. read more

I've had very, very poor experiences with dealerships and Garage One re-defined my service experience. They performed an inspection in addition to my first service where they found two issues that i had to take my car in to the dealership for, which they included pictures for. There was a large grease stain on th drivers seat when I picked up the car. I also had to re-attach a boot around a wire harness they inspected and did not properly reinstall. Garage1 did a great job pointing out everything that could be fixed on my 12 year old Subaru. However they could not answer my questions about what repairs were safety critical. What repairs were recommended if I wanted to get some more miles out of the car. What would happen if the part was not repaired and it broke. Would I crash or would the car just need to be pulled over and cool off because it overheated. Nor could they help me assess the risk if I did not perform the repair. They used hard sell tactics to try to get me to perform the recommended repairs - which were numerous for a 12 year old car, but not all necessary. I don't think I will go back. I need a trusted garage that can help me assess if repairs are needed or not. read more

Garage One is no ordinary shop, they really, really take pride in Subaru. I went to them do no less than a complete transmission and drivetrain upgrade on my 2002 WRX. In the process we also did a Valve Gasket job, fixed a broken AC system, and replaced a timing belt assembly. The transmission upgrade was a major effort to spec out. There was an upfront planning stage to discuss all the possible options, and my overall goals for the car, but they were patient enough to explain every step. When finished, I was amazed by the interior work they had done to fit the new shifter and center-diff controls, everything looked absolutely stock. After driving the car for two weeks, I can definitely say I trust them with any sort of major work, tuning or upgrades. With a shop like this there's no need to replace your old Subaru (especially with all the recalls for a new Subaru) If you really love your car keep it and make it better. You can't beat a three-year warranty either. I'm super thrilled having a better than new (old) car that I cannot wait to drive each day, as well as a trusted shop for upgrades that really shares your enthusiasm and vision for your Subaru. read more

Wife's car experienced all warning lights on or flashing. 2010 Subaru Outback was near a 97,000 mi service interval. Dealer couldn't take the car for a week so I thought - lets try Garage One. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE!! First, they gave my wife a diagnostic that said she needed to replace her lightbulbs throughout the car. It appeared professional, but it didn't diagnose the problem at hand. Second, I did some research on the web and found that if the gas cap is loose you will get all dash warning light on. I'm sure most Subaru garage's know this and is a easy correction. My wife indicated she may have not have clicked the gas cap the day before these flashing dash lights. Third, my wife got a work estimate for nearly $975 which included $135 diagnostic, replacing the serpentine belt $84, radiator hoses $266, CVT transmission fluid $343, and then the standard 97K service $108. This was delivered on Friday afternoon and they close at 5PM. Fourth, Monday morning my wife and I went back to Garage One and asked if they have found the problem with the lights and they said we needed to do this work. I asked how does any of this relate to the flashing dash warning lights? No clear response. Also, I asked to see the wear on the serpentine belt and hoses. Looking at with the tech there was no indication of issues suggested. At this point I wanted my car back and not get in a argument with them and paid the $135 diagnostic fee and took it to Stevens Creek Subaru. Stevens Creek Subaru quoted the cost for a 97K service at $70, CVT transmission fluid replacement $122 and we had one right rear brake light out. Total cost with discount was $205. Steven Creek Subaru said the serpentine belt and radiator hoses checked out OK. Never will I go back to Garage One. These guys appear to be scammers...Be aware. Garage One, if you are honorable you should refund a good portion of that $135 "diagnostic" I paid for nothing. read more

I was having problems with my 2011 Impreza WRX (check engine light) and initially brought it to Capitol Subaru. I was not happy with the way they handled my issue, so I just paid for the diagnosis (no repair) and brought it over to Garage One for an independent assessment. The dealership pointed out I had excessively dirty engine oil (recommended oil change) and the clutch should be replaced soon. I had to fight to get all this in writing, so that I would be able to compare it to an independent assessment. A couple days later, they called back saying the check engine light wasn't on. I got Subaru American involved and they said it can go off but the codes should be there, so I had them check again. There was no code that could be read either. However, they went ahead and completed diagnosis and found that my battery needs replacing. I gave them a go-ahead. They also asked if I could bring the copy of the diagnosis result I got from the dealership. I emailed it to them immediately. This morning I went to pick up my car and requested a copy of the result of the diagnosis. I was told there is nothing they can give me. I double-checked with them that for $150 diagnosis, there is nothing other than the $150 receipt they could give me. I went out and checked the engine oil, which was still dirty. I went back and asked if it was checked as part of the diagnosis and if so how come they didn't mention it. I was told that because the check engine light wasn't on, it wasn't part of the diagnosis (or she may have said it wasn't part of recommendations since the check engine light wasn't on.) I'm still confused as to what I paid $150 for, if certain recommendations were withheld due to it being not a check-engine diagnosis. I did not find Garage One's business to be transparent. I am not satisfied with their service and will not be coming back. read more

Very good place to get work done on your subie the guys there know what their doing and get the job done right. You can throw any job at them and the will handle it. I came in with a blown motor and they fixed it right up took a while but when i got my car back it was like brand new. They have a good selection of aftermarket parts to put on to really get your subie purring. Also forget to mention their team. The 1st time was they had repaired my brakes, rotors, calipers, pads etc. Agnes was very communicative throughout the process letting me know what needs to be done. I don't usually give out reviews, but this has to be the Worst shop ever, they did a repairs on my car yes multiple repairs and more issues occurred right after the repair. They broke my radiator, so the day I got my car back my car was over heating. On a separate occasion, my car wasn't starting so I took it back to them to give them another chance, and they said it was my fuel pump, so I said ok... Lets get that replaced. Got the car back and on the same day the fuel pump went out again. So brought the car back to the shop and they said the the fuel regulator was broken as well?? This made me think that it wasn't my fuel pump to start with since I could hear my engine being primed. Over all my experience with this shop has been nothing but headaches. I will never come back here again. They will over charge you for their services and do a crappy job. Their workmanship is not something you should trust, they never get it right the first time. read more
