They are not that experienced and will guide you to fix things at a high cost when it could be that done a different way at much less cost at another shop. Also, don't rely on the call from front desk that asks you that it will $$Xx to fix YY. Don't trust her. Go to the shop, inspect your car and issue visually, fully understand the issue, call another trusted shop, and then decide. I visited BTM today to get the first oil change on my '24 Porsche 911 and I left really pleased with their service. I had seen other Porsche owners speak highly about the shop on the forums, so I reached out and asked for a quote for the service. The price was reasonable and they were able to book me for an appointment the same week. When I went in, they were able to complete the oil change, filter replacement, and an inspection of the car in about 90 minutes. After hearing that it was my first time at the shop, Michael offered to give me a tour of the shop while I waited on them to finish up my car. This was my first time having my car serviced by BTM Motorwerks and was very pleased with my experience. My Dad has been having his BMW's serviced at this shop for a number of years and speaks very highly of them. I have a 2020 BMW X5 that was in need of front brake replacement. Naturally, I first went to Steven's Creek BMW who gave me a quote close to $2,000 with tax. I decided to put a call out to BTM Motorwerks based on the great referral from my Dad, and they certainly didn't disappoint. My appointment was scheduled by Christian who asked for some information about my car and gave me a competitive and fair estimate for the job. When I brought my car in, he noticed that because I have the M Sport package, the brakes are a bit larger and the price would be higher. I could tell he didn't feel good about having to charge me more than the initial estimate, so he was able to find a different brake pad to bring the cost down. He also gave me the option to pay with check or cash to save a little extra on the processing charges. On top of this, they had the car fully cleaned inside and out; apparently this is a service they offer for invoices over $1,000. I know my rear brakes are going to be due for replacement soon, and I will absolutely be bringing my car back here when that time goes. I came in for a simple oil change and to start a relationship with this shop. Instead, what I received was a headache full of mistakes. I will explain the issue, but as I feel, we all make mistakes at times. The important part is to have good communication, thoughtful and caring responses and a true, authentic apology and all can be forgiven. Unfortunately, none of that was found for me, so don't expect it for you. First, when I dropped off the car in the morning, I was told it'd be ready by 2pm and they would call. Finally at 3pm they called and said it was ready, so I headed out to pick it up. At 3:15pm they called again to let me know they forgot to tell me they close at 3:30pm so I had to hurry! (At the time both Yelp and Google had them closing at 5pm, it's since been updated) 5 mins after picking up the car the oil light came on. I quickly turned around and headed back. Luckily I got there before they all left and Mike decided to see what was wrong. After opening the hood, Mike then tells me he's not a mechanic and not sure. He would need to have a mechanic see "if it was something they did". Let's see, if the oil light wasn't on before I dropped it off, and you change the oil, and now the light is on...yes it's something you did! I was offered a loner car for the night, as most good shops have one for such an issue. But what I was given was the dirtiest, smelliest car imaginable. It had dog hair all over it, completely filthy, with little gas and a warning light came on twice while using it. I actually took it to a car wash to quick wash and vacuum it, and then sanitized the inside it was that filthy! Upon returning it I was told, "We felt it was better than nothing". No, I assure it wasn't. It was however, the cheapest thing you could have done. Picking up my car the next morning I was told they accidentally put too much oil in the car when doing the oil change. Again, we all make mistakes but I would expect this from Jiffy Lube, not a place that charges $160. Later I was told they did drain the excess oil out, which wasn't immediately stated and made me worried. Again, instead of making sure the car was perfect, they took the cheapest option. So how was the apology tour of BTM? Again, they chose the cheapest option and with little thought. Let me quote exactly, "umm for your troubles...(looks around...under papers...) we want to offer you...ahhh a free car wash. Let's see, we had the coupon here...well it's gone...but if you ever want a car wash, come back to see us." read more

Attention to detail. Shotgun diagnostic they don't look to hard nor deep. Put on a good show but is HORRIBLE. They didn't do what they said they were going to do. Brought in my 2016 SQ5 for new brakes and 45K service. Stephanie was quick and efficient with scheduling my appointment and getting me a quote immediately on my initial phone call. I had called multiple shops to get estimates and either they took too long or were considerably more expensive than BTM. I went to BTM off of a recommendation as well as their quick response. They definitely were not the cheapest, but struck me as the fairest. I had done research on what parts I wanted and their prices were in line with buying through a shop. My daughter's 2015 Audi A3's air defogger wasn't working. I have a 2018 Q5. Both of us were looking for an independent business that could service our cars. Audi Stevens Creek is too expensive and totally lacking in customer service. I initially took my vehicle to another independent auto repair service that had great Yelp reviews. They charged me $225 to diagnose the car and came back with a somewhat exorbitant cost. I exchanged some emails with Stephanie indicating what the diagnostic report said. She interfaced with Mike and came back with a price for me. After I left the car, Mike said he would waive their diagnostic fee and adhere to the quoted price which is something he would not ordinarily do in waiving the diagnostic fee. His pricing was considerably less expensive that the other auto repair shop. BTM fixed the car and it operates great. I found Mike to be extremely honest and straighforward, plus a very nice person who is willing to listen and work his his clientele. I would wholeheartedly recommend BTM Motorwerks. We not only got my daughter's air defogger fixed, we have now found in BTM a motorwerks place where we can bring out Audi's for service and repair. I came here with my BMW Z4 for an overall inspection and AC recharge. The team was friendly and knowledgeable. BTM is conveniently located near prune ridge which makes it easy to drop off especially if you have errands to run. It's a little pricey but worth it for good service. I have a Porsche 993 C2 that had a strange vibration that I wanted a second opinion on. Brad and Mike were very helpful over the phone + in person. The in person part is hard during this shelter-in-place stage we are at now, but they were helpful and respectful. They were able to give me a diagnosis and didn't charge me the full hour to diagnose which was cool. Brad gave me a tour of the shop as well. They appear to specialize in BMW/Porsche of all generations. I'll come back in the future if needed mainly because of the good customer service, fair pricing and they know their Bimmers and P-Cars. Gentleman answered the phone sounding exhausted and annoyed to be speaking to me. Tried to get a quote on a very simple exhaust job on my car, after refusing to give me a quote and insisting I come in to have a car looked at for a very easy job I offered to explain over the phone (as I had done it once before myself) he abruptly states "it's going to cost you whatever labor it takes for us to finish plus the cost of the parts." It doesn't take a mechanical engineer to understand that when you go to a mechanic you generally pay the price of the parts plus labor, what I was looking for was a quote with an estimate of how long the job will take plus what they wanted to charge me for the parts. Not an explanation on how business is done at a repair shop. This was the customer service and attitude given over the phone for their most valuable asset; a potential new customer, God knows how they would've treated me once they had my car in their possession with knows how much they would've charged owed on the car. Easily could've made a new customer and done business on an easy job but they may need to send their manager to a customer service training course. read more

I am a big fan of Brad and his shop. I inherently trust successful racers in their workmanship and the company they keep, AKA the mechanics. Brad and his employees have a proven track record in my book. I am a former engineer, motorcycle race team mechanic, and racer. I have a REALLY hard time finding mechanics I trust and historically have done my own work. In the past few years I have tried a few shops and dealers based on amazing reviews but my criteria is even harder to meet than most people who review mechanics. Brad owns one of two local shop I currently would be content leaving my car with, knowing the work will be done right, fast, and at a fair price. HIGHLY recommend. Please read. I took in an old 90s VW diesel that was in terrible shape. I called them up to do a litany of things, included diagnosing an engine sound. When they finished, I showed up and drove away.. and noticed the same sound there. I went back and drove around with Brad, and he heard the sound as well. It turns out there was a miscommunication in how I communicated what the problem was (I had the car towed in). The next day they had fixed the problem (which was probably another couple hours of labor) AND washed my car, all for no charge. My experience with Brad and Mike at BTM were nothing but positive as they helped me through a really crappy day. I drive a 2000 Porsche Boxster....love the car and a ton of fun to drive. I bought it used with 120,000 miles so some repairs were and are expected. Just these repairs never seem to take place at a convenient time. While on business visiting one of my clients near his shop, my car wouldn't start after the meeting. Some troubleshooting and it was easy to see the car was not getting fuel...and indeed the fuel pump had gone out. I live about an hour north of BTM and was in quite a pickle at this point...what to do??? AAA gave me a tow to BTM arriving at 3pm...by 3:11 they had ordered a new fuel pump and by 5pm, they were handing me the keys to drive home. Who does same day service anymore, they were awesome!! Their customer service was great and their dog Max made my day!! As Brad states in one of his other reviews on Yelp...it's all about the relationship. More times than not, if you treat someone with respect and courtesy...thats typically what you get back in return and that's how my relationship started with BTM and thats how it ended when they handed me the keys. Their prices...they are inline with what others charge and provide a superior quality of work. I would recommend them to anyone and yes, I'll be back. BTM spotted a cracked motor mount while changing out the fuel pump...gave me a reasonable quote on the spot and I promised I'd be back to which i will after I save up my pennies for the fix. My go to shop for all my European cars now . Friend of mine who used to work for Dinan engineering referred them . Very honest and you do not have to worry about them damaging your car either. They replaced the shifter Mountain view BMW damaged in my 550i in less than 20 mins and were 35% less than the BMW dealer quoted. Their tire work is also excellent and fast, used to have to spend 1/2 a day at custom alignment , now I just make an appt when it's convenient and your in/out within an hour. When they gave me back the car, it had already been washed inside and out, something that I didn't ask for, but most definitely appreciated! These folks keep real and will let you know upfront exactly what's going on with your car. I keep going back to them because I trust them and nothing has mysteriously broken. Quit looking around at other shops and just go on into BTM Motorwerks, you won't be disappointed. And, if you're not convinced, the trophies sure do back up what they do. I contacted these guys 3 times over a two and a half week period for a minor job. They said that it was something they could easily do. Each time they took my name, phone number, and car model and said he'd get back to me later since he was sitting in front of a customer right now. He literally had the same response every time I called. It's as if he was reading off a cue card or something. No one ever called back. I ended up calling a local competitor who took my info, gave me a great quote, and scheduled me an appointment all in one call. You know... Like a normal professional. Brought my 987.2 Cayman to BTM for oil and spark plug change after purchase. Mike on the phone was friendly and was patient in answering any questions I had, took time to explain what maintenance items should be done and what they would check for. He mentioned although they don't use customer provided parts, he would waive the rule the one time since I had bought some of the maintenance items (all oem) previous owner was planning on doing already which was very nice of them. They explained the work at the start, kept me informed over the phone and went over the details again after. I set another appointment not soon after to get a short shifter installed and also have some non-standard issues looked at - my driver side speaker and lights were not working and the window badly needed adjustment. I was worried these weird issues were going to be a goose chase but Brad the owner discussed what the issues may be and what I tried so far (I had the door panel half opened trying to diagnose myself). Again, they kept me updated over the phone and when I returned, the window was aligned perfectly, no wind noises! Simple fix for the speaker and left the light alone at my request due to costly motor replacement. Feels solid as it should be! Short shifter feels great and makes the car much more enjoyable. Really satisfied to have found a great shop with honest guys that's able to address all my concerns! read more

I was looking for suspension for my W211 E320 and Mike was friendly on the phone and offered to help source some parts options for me. I had to follow up with him since he was busy. Finally we ordered H&R Sport Springs and Bilstein B8 shocks/struts which he stated should be a great combo and they called me with a tracking number which was great. When I pick up my car after the install, I noticed the rear end squatting down. Mike said the car was set so the frame is equal distance from the ground in the front and back and that the car drove great on the test drive after the alignment. When I drove the car, the car pulled to the right, the rear suspension was extremely bouncy, and I heard a knocking sound. I drove back immediately and a very friendly tech went around the block with me. He stated that the car ride was firmer with sport suspension and was fine but would have to look at the noise which turned out to be a loose shock mount. They fixed the mount but did not have a solution for the suspension, which felt like it was bottoming out. I went to BTM because they build German race cars and I felt confident they would do a good job. I had to call H&R, Bilstein, and Mercedes and they all said the tuning shop should be trouble shooting to solve the ride issue. I spoke with the owner Brad, trying to offer solutions, and he starts telling me that it's not going to ride like a Mercedes anymore and that people don't modify that model car. Then he said they were ordering rear spacers/shims to raise the car in the back. Mercedes offers 5 different shim sizes, BTM ordered the thickest shim. When I asked why that one, Brad stated they would try it and it should work. This is not what I would expect from a quality shop. I bring the car back and they want to charge me to put the parts on to fix the ride on the work I already paid for! After arguing with Mike, Brad comes out to say they will do it free while shaking his head in frustration and they will take a loss. I failed to mention that he felt the need to remind me over the phone that they are in business to make money on parts and labor. Thanks for the reminder Brad. While in the end, the parts did fix the ride and the car rides the way it should, my car still pulls to the right and Brad says to just hold the steering wheel because they can't align it perfectly. What a joke! I wish I was making this up... read more

Well, I cannot say how good of work they might do or how they perform, but after trying to deal with them twice and never getting a response back, I can only say their customer service is awful. About a year ago I walk in and ask if they can do work on a custom C63 AMG. Sure Mike says and they write me ask what I need and go through a small list and then said he will call me and let me know a price. 2 days later, no call. I call them back after day 3 and got the run round and he told me he would call. Nothing. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I needed some new KW v3 Coilovers put in the same car. I called, not sure who I spoke with this time, and gave them the run down. Again no call back after being told they would provide me with an estimate. That's crap service. I come from a racing back ground and this shop being so close would have been ideal. If you're too busy I would understand, but Jesus, at least tell me you don't or can't do the work. I have never seen these guys at LS so I don't or can't speak of their work, but getting the total brush off twice is all I needed to know not to ever deal with these guys. read more

Highly recommended for Smart Car service. So I've always gone to the SmartCar/Mercedes dealership for service. Check engine light came on and dealer quoted $1300 for parts and labor to fix the "issue", on top of the $200 I already paid for the diagnostic. I called BTM to get a quote, within 24hrs Brad returned my call and it was considerably cheaper. But he said BTM would not guarantee the issue would be fixed unless they did their own diagnostic. Which is totally fair. Dropped off the car for a diagnostic. Got a call the next morning that the car was fixed, no parts or additional labor needed! Comparing BTM's diagnostic report to the dealership was like night and day. Mike walked me through every step that the BTM mechanic did to diagnose and fix the issue. read more

Came back again a few weeks ago for a 60k checkup as well as new brakes and a new tire. Did a nice job on getting the parts together even for the tire they don't normally carry. Glad they didn't have any issues dealing with the run flats on the Z4. Kind of worried about that since I hear they're a pain and not everyone knows how to deal with those kind of tires.
