6 months ago, I brought my 2009 Cayenne Turbo S in for tune up...BTM's price for a 90k tune up was $750 whereas the dealership was $1600. A few months later, while having some warranty work done on my Cayenne at the dealership (something they had done 3 months prior), they told me that my brakes needed replaced but I had a 1k miles left before the sensor came on. Last week the sensor came on. Brakes at the dealer ship were $3600. At BTM, $2400. If you have a porsche, bmw, audi or mercedes, take your car / suv to BTM and save not just a little bit but a lot of money. Nice guys but I took my BMW in for a safety check and a pre buy inspection. Four months later I had to take it to BMW for recall and during there safety check they found a cooling hose missing. This should have been found during the safety or pre buy inspection. I called and they said it could have fallen off, maybe but I only drove the car 200 mile since they inspected it and BMW said it looked like it had been missing for awhile. I paid BMW for another safety check to be safe. read more

A week after I picked up my vehicle, I gave a car wash on the vehicle and found a water leak in the interior headliner again but this time happened in the rear passenger side D-Pillar. After spoke with the owner, I requested for a refund as loss faith on them and brought the vehicle to Porsche dealership instead. The dealership identified the cover for access to the LID struts is damaged and caused water leaking from a hole in the access panel. On top of that, I also discover my sunroof not working with missing the small piece sun visor located on the overhead console. All the issues migrated after the "roof work" BTM Motowerks had performed. read more

First, let me start off by saying that I have not taken my vehicle here for service, so I am only reviewing the customer service I experienced over the phone to obtain a quote and schedule service. However, I feel that good customer service is an important prerequisite before I take my vehicle in for service. I called to obtain a quote on a service for my car. The person who answered seemed very busy and a bit frazzled over the phone. He informed me that he would call me right back and in a very hurried way took down my name and some details about the car (although, I don't believe he actually got my name). I believe it was around 3pm. I never heard back. The next day, he called in the morning and left a message to call him back. I called back and he gave me the quote for the service. He also informed me as to what the service would entail. I asked him a simple question about the costs if I were to remove to elements (the Air Filter and the Cabin Filter). He instantly got defensive and asked "Why would you want to do that." I informed him that I could, very simply, changed those parts out myself (really...both filters in my vehicle are VERY easy and simple to change). Clearly, I wanted to do the rest of the service with this company (because of the reviews on Yelp), but I figure that it is a waste of money to pay someone to do a service that I can do in less than 10 minutes. He said to me "well, maybe you should take your car to a place that does things in piecemeal...that's not how we do business." So, instead of just taking off the $40 parts for two simple filters, they would rather I take my business elsewhere? Sure! No problem with that. And, in the time I spent writing this review, I could have had both filters replaced. Again, I would like to emphasize the fact that I have NOT taken my vehicle for service here (I do not know how good their service or repairs are), but I feel that this experience was a red flag for me. I set an appointment to get an oil leak diagnosed on my Audi, thinking this was going to get fixed the same day. But unfortunately they called me back to pick up my car and said that it would take more than a day to fix which needed to be rescheduled. This was on a Friday and they were closed on Saturdays. When I got back to the shop they said that valve cover gasket and the camshaft seals were leaking but they weren't 100% sure until they open up the engine. In the end I didn't get any work done here, I found a shop that deals exclusively with Audi & VWs and they fixed my car in a day and charged me one-third the price BTM was quoting me. read more

I'm not happy with BTM at all. I'm having AC problems and had them look into it. After "diagnosing" the problem was told the blower motor was bad and had to be replaced. $300 dollars in parts and labor later was just told the AC still doesn't work! Now they want to take apart my entire front end and attempt to diagnose the problem again - all the while charging me another 4-5 hours of labor. They're not going to suck another dime out of me just so they can MISdiagnose the proglem again. No way. I'll never go back. Also - they had my car an entire day and didn't even touch it. How inconvenient. They should have told me they couldn't get to it until the next day so I wouldn't have been without a car for 2 days. Great Customer Service guys. Diamond certified obviously doesn't count for much. read more

Important note: I know nothing about cars, and I rely on the expertise of the people working on my car to know what they're doing and fix what needs fixing, and to tell me when there's extra work that would involve more time at the shop. A car-knowledgeable friend of mine who works on her own vehicle(s) recommended BTM to me and said the prices were comparable to similar shops that would be familiar with BMWs or other German cars. I inherited my mom's 2002 BMW 325i and needed to take my car in for a 100k service / check up. Since I hadn't driven the car for very long, I wanted to get an exhaustive, full-car inspection to get an overall sense of how the car was doing. I called in on a Wednesday, got my car dropped off on Thursday, and was able to pick it up on Friday afternoon. Each time I came in Mike sat down with me to go over any questions while he told me what they would be working on and then when I came back, what they found and what they recommended I bring the car back in for. Throughout the dialogue I could tell that Mike really knew what he was doing, just from the way he spoke about the car and described the different parts and repair work. After the inspection was done he went over some of the things that they found and explained and clarified anything that I had questions about. He was able to explain things in a clear way that even I could understand, and he was very clear about what might need replacing and realistically what didn't need to be worked on right away, and why certain parts of the inspection/service were so costly. Because the job was so big, they even took care of the rental car I would need while my car was at the shop. Sure, it would only have been maybe $35 for the day my car was in the shop - but I appreciated the gesture and it was nice to offer. All in all I had an excellent experience here. The guys who run this place are courteous and respectful, and at no point did I feel I was talked down at or was being upsold services I didn't need. I appreciate the very no-nonsense and straightforward attitude, and it was easy to tell that they were very familiar with my car and knew what they were doing. I started using BTM for my oil changes on my 750Li as their pricing was more than reasonable then most of all the other local shops. I had an oil leak and I took it to them to get it fixed. As it turns out, the valve covers, timing chain cover and the valley pan were all leaking, which as you BMW owner know is not a cheap fix. Brad and Mike were very accommodating of my situation and made every effort to provide a cost affective fix for my situation. We even discussed replacing other parts that were associated within the area of repair that I could save labor costs. We ended up replacing the timing chain tensioners and the spark plugs with a minimal addition of labor costs and they didn't try to ding me for all of the hours associated with the individual items as if I had them performed separately. I like that BTM will only fix what is in need of repair and makes suggestions as to other items that may need attention in the future when your funds are available. They've never tried to sell me any thing that I didn't need and I really like that. read more

Really nice people - my Mini Cooper battery keep getting drained and I didn't want to take it to the dealer and pay dealer prices.. They said I could come by without an appt and they'd check it out. Turned out I didn't have a connection on tight enough. They charged me for the short time it took them to figure it out - which is really cool because they could have charged me a whole hour!!!! I have somewhat successfully (haha) owned-and driven daily-a 911 turbo for the last 5 or 6 years on a modest salary. Needless to say, every little thing on the car matters to me, because I'm not rich, and because I truly love the car. In addition to the car's irreplaceable nature (mezger engine/money invested) i am a very detail-oriented kinda of guy, bordering on obsessive. I want to know and to cover every last thing. Let me get to the point. I have always been treated with respect and patience at BTM, even when i first went there and was only spending $60 dollars to get a plastic piece of trim fixed. I have asked them tons of questions and they have been more than willing to help. Best of all, they have a CONSCIENCE!! in other words, they won't charge you for something they didn't do or didn't have to do. They believe in "data-driven" solutions; in other words, they don't just throw parts at the car. Mike is a very kind young man with a passion for what he does, and Brad the owner, hasn't lost that spark either, despite shouldering all of the responsibilities of owning a small business. I saw some bad reviews on here and read them. People are human and they make mistakes. But based on my experience with the team, i would imagine those mistakes are infrequent, and would be honestly and humbly rectified, if the customer would calmly talk the issue through, without assumptions, accusations, or acrimony. Its simple, you get in what you put out. Now, as far as them not returning phone calls with quotes in a timely fashion or needing reminder; THEY ARE NOT FRICKIN SECRETARIES. They are race car drivers and high end mechanics and they are busy because they are good. Perhaps in today's world, we as customers should not expect the merchant to do everything with minimal effort on our part, especially when involving a skilled field. When was the last time you called your doctor on his cell phone and he picked up right away? that was a rhetorical question. Perhaps we should remember that sometimes we need reminding too. Very honest, excellent shop. I brought my 2010 Vw bug here for service. I had gone to Capitol VW where they quoted me about 3k in work when they were doing a 50k inspection. It just didn't seem right. A friend recommended BTM. After BTM inspected the car, all the work Capitol VW said was needed turned out not to be needed. There was even grease on the shocks (likely put there by Capitol) to make it look like shocks were leaking. Instead of a 3k bill, I walked away with a 196.00 bill and a fixed headlight (only real issue). Thank you to Mike, I will always my bug here going forward. Highly recommended!! read more

Wrenn Works sold his customer list to BTM. My first time using BTM was a very good experience. I was on my way to Reno when my sunroof on my Porsche got stuck in the open position. There was no way I could drive the vehicle in this condition. I stopped in to BTM without an appointment. The staff was slammed but they accommodated me. I left the vehicle and an hour later they called and said the sunroof was fixed by just resetting it. They didn't charge me since it was a quick fix. I thought that was very generous since I was expecting at least an hours labor charge (if I was lucky). read more

No fuss. I have had two BMWs over that period of time. There was no other alternative to consider. I have referred a close friend to BTM Motorwerks after she had several sub-par service appointments with Mountain View BMW. She too has been happy and now has her service done at BTM Motorwerks. When you walk into the BTM Motorwerks front office, you see there is a true passion for quality service and performance. UPDATE(Per Brad's response): Thank you for the reply and the apology, it goes a long way. My experience with this shop was tragic and yet avoidable. They came highly recommend by other users and reviews online. I am new to the San Jose area, and wanted to find a shop that could take care of my 1969 BMW 2002 and help me slowly restore it over the next couple years. I went to BTM and spoke with Brad (I think he is the owner?), and told him about my plan. This car is a single owner car, my grandfather bought it new and has been in the family ever since. It's old, rusty, and needs some work but it has been a weekly driver for me for the last two years. I told Brad that I want to put the money into it, but I just can't do it in one big visit...have to spread it over time. He seemed very receptive so we began the work. First Visit: I told them I have three issues with the car; fuel is leaking from the car - doesn't run well (stutters, loss of power, etc) - and the car will randomly just die when driving, and won't start up again. After diagnoses, they recommended a new carb (they found a cheap one as a direct replacement), and also said that my distributor wiring was not correct so they fixed it and should solve any running issues. They did not charge me for correcting the wiring issue. After the work was completed, I picked the up the car, and 15min later the car died on me at an intersection. I called them, and the manager Brad drove out to meet me with his mechanic. This was a surprisingly nice gesture, but in the end it could not be fixed on the side of the road so we towed it back. Second Visit: After they checked the car over, they discover that fuel was not reaching the filter, and that there were little pieces of paint/clump/flakes in the fuel tank, probably just due to age and some old overspray. They recommended removing the tank and thoroughly cleaning it out. I asked him about the carb repair and said I thought that was going to fix everything. Brad said he did not document any requests as to the car not running right, or the "dying" issue. Okay, I am pretty sure I said that at the start, its a serious issue, but whatever lets move on and just comprise and say it was a mis-communication. No big deal. I payed for the fuel cleaning, and picked up the car a few days later. Third Visit: After picking up the car it still was not running well. In fact, it was running worse than when I had the leaking carb. I decided to keep driving it for a couple weeks and get at least two gas tanks full through the system. Maybe the carb just needed some time to settle? After two weeks, the car still ran like crap so I called Brad and told him. I brought it back in and waited for another call. After a couple days Brad called and told me that the carb is fine, jetting is good, but we need to replace the sparks, wires, and coil so we have a good baseline. I asked him why this was not recommend before, he said I never asked them to diagnose this before. You can imaging my frustration, so I told him that I would pick up the car and have to bring it back when I have some more money to throw at it. I also mentioned that the wires and sparks were replaced less that 10k miles ago, but he said they still looked bad. Fourth Visit: Three days after my last visit, the car broke down on me again while I was picking my dog from daycare. The car broke down on a Sunday, and BTM is closed, so I had to push the car off the street into a parking lot where I then took and Uber home with my dog. I called Brad the next morning (Monday), but no one answered the phone. (BTW, they do not have a voicemail system so the phone just keeps ringing). I figured they must be late getting to work, so I went to there shop and dropped my key through their slot with a note to call me. They never called. It turns out they decided to be closed that day. There was no sign on the door that said they would be closed all day, nothing updated on there website, nothing updated on Google, and no voicemail recording to say otherwise. I finally got a call back when they opened, but decided this visit needed an in-person discussion. I will spare the finite details, but lets just say that Brad and I did not agree on things. I felt that the mechanical work was fine, the mechanic did his job without issue. The customer service was the worst part. Brad never seemed to remember or write down what I said, he felt that the car "was old and this is how it goes", "Im not making much money on this", the list goes on. At no point during any of my four visits did he once apologize for anything. A little modestly can go a long way. I truly felt like Brad had no remorse, and would say anything to ensure it was not his/their fault. Perhaps customers with more modern cars will be better serviced. After all the visits, discussions, repairs, and quite a bit of money, I have a car that is worse off than when I came in. I will not be returning to BTM. read more

I recently purchased a 2007 M6, and was looking for a local shop to do some upgrades. After doing some research, I decided to check out BTM MotorWerks. For this particular job, I was looking to have my Angel Eyes upgraded from the stock bulbs, to the white AngeliBright units. After talking with AiB, they told me it should take 1/2 to 1 hour of labor depending whether the lights needed to be pulled out (tight squeeze if you don't have really small hands). Friday, I dropped by BTM right around closing time (5pm), asking if they could do the installation tomorrow. I was given a quote of a 1/2 hour of labor, and an appointment of 9am for next day (Sat). The shop has multi-bays, and is nice and clean, with a waiting room up front. No wifi, which I recommended to the manager. By the time I walked down for a cup of coffee at the nearby Jack in the Box, and returned back, the car was ready. My original units were put into the AiB packaging, and given back to me. A half hour, exactly as quoted, and a perfect and clean job. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my car, and I am very pleased with the professionalism, and quality of work at BTM. Took my e46 BMW here to have a set of camber plates installed and the tires aligned so the car would stop eating tires every 8-10k miles. Job was performed perfectly and for a reasonable price. Also had them do a brake fluid flush and diagnose a drive line noise that had been bothering me for a long time. The found a cracked guibo which I had them replace as well. Car runs as good as when I bought it from the dealership and was certainly cheaper then taking it to the stealership and they even washed the car for me which was nice. The guy seemed very nice for the short time I talked to him since I was in a hurry. I'm satisfied so far and will be back if my car needs anything else read more
