Took my car in for a seemingly minor electrical repair.  Was told one week.  Called in a week, not repaired but found a more serious problem they could fix, call in a week.  Called in a week.  In fixing the "second" problem, they damaged my engine and needed to install new valves on the passenger side to repair.  Call in a week.  Called in a week "almost done".  Demanded car be repaired and returned to me immediately, told I could meet manager and pick up car Monday.  Picked up car on Monday-manager not present (now 21 days total).  Original problem: not fixed nor documented. Dirty repair rags left of the front seat of my car. Secondary problem now (apparently) fixed.  No use of my car for three weeks (loaner was offered in the last week only).  In short, disreputable business, bordering on if not outright fraud.  Do not take your or anyone else's vehicle there for any reason ever- or I expect you will regret it based on my experience. read more

I failed my smog check because of an EVAP leak. I called around to find places that could do smoke tests. I called one place, told them I failed my smog check, got a read out of what was wrong, but was met with a "oh we need to run another diagnostic and charge $300, not including the smoke tests." I called Willow Glen Auto Electric and they as told they charge $149 for the smoke tests. Went in, provided the read out from the smog test and they found the leak in my purge valve. I was quoted roughly $215 for the part and labor. Tony, the mechanic that worked on my car showed me the part that was faulty and how it was leaking slowly. Showed the same test to me with the new part and finished the job in no matter of time. After fixing the faulty purge valve, they told me to come back after driving 50-100 miles to see if my vehicle was still throwing the code. Came back a week later, they plugged in the code reader and it was working perfectly! I would recommend everyone come here for your EVAP and mechanical needs. This shop had my 1960 Ford f100 For close 3 months for Some electrical issues and to align My doors and make them shut and lock properly.Mind you , the doors And new weather stripping was put on before towed in to their shop. I always like to give the people working on my truck a little incentive.So I gave them some cash up front when I dropped the truck off Towards payment, Rusty Assured me that he knew what was going on and I was in good hands and he looked forward to working on my truck and getting things done everything I wanted to hear. A couple days go by, I get a call from Mo he and says we got your truck started and running Wow I was so happy so Moe tells me it needs couple items, and I knew that I had what he had mentioned At home.., So I went and dropped Off what he needed. I believe it was the same day. Come to find out they don't like to buy parts for cars They're working. Or maybe that was just me. I had to go and pay for it and buy it and bring it to them or have it shipped over there. Didn't know that from the get-go? You would think baby could have used the money I gave them app front 3 × 2 buy these parts I ended up having to buy. Everything up front and then half the things they recommended that I bought was given to me by them and it was wrong. So I had to ship it back, and then there's more time they had my truck. I still have those parts, by the way, a lot of money wasted. Most shops will just put it on the build. That was a big inconvenience wasted a lot of gas and time. Oh well, I can look beyond that. Still taking a little bit longer than normal, hadn't heard from anybody went down there again gave him another. I believe $500 to get the ball rolling faster. There is one person down there that always took care of me every time I went down there.His name was Anthony he should be running the the shop Well, to make a long story short, they recommended me doing my brakes, something got broken, never still did get fixed on the caliper. It charged me $4500 to align the doors and still don't shut right. I'll put some pictures up when I get home, I'm at work right now. Total disappointment, only good thing out of that shop was Anthony. They've got a lot of drama going down there or something, but really disappointed close to $10000. I gave these guys\n And one time the guy forgot to write down when I gave him cash on the weekend and went down there on the weekend and gave him some more cash and he forgot to write it down, so they didn't know anything about it. I took my 2019 Bolt EV for a warning light from the Tire Monitoring System. There was no tire pressure being read from the one of the tires. It seems like they have not worked on EVs before, or have limited experience. They kept the car for 2 days and only worsened the problem. Now, apart from the tire not showing any pressure, another tire reads 0 pressure. I will be taking the car to another shop and get the issue resolved. To top it off, one of the mechanics left the fob on top of the car and drove it around ending up losing the fob. I will not take my car there again, nor will I recommend this place. read more

I called the phone number and there was a lady answered, her name was Qui. Took down all my notes and she told me to her at the shop (Alliance Automotive) Upon arrival, there was no one to be found and all office doors were locked. Called her back again, she diverted me to Willow Glen Electric. Arrived over there, and she was no where to be found to collect my info and keys before service. A mechanic from next door SMOG check place had to let me in, and I had to re-explain everything that was going on. (the place was very ran-down) After when I got home and not being able to see anyone all day from the abandoned yard, I called in for the diagnosis charge, I kept calling in to when the estimate will be provided , and every time I would call, the lady who always answers the phone, would be always driving and had me on speakerphone. - NOTE: NO ESTIMATE WAS EVER SENT very unprofessional to not meet me on site, and to clearly be always driving. If I was a shop owner, I would always make time for my customers to meet and greet them ON-SITE! to make sure they are well taken care of , if you are a small company. Customer focus is always #1. AVOID THIS SHOP! Trust me. If you want to know the details, look below. I brought my classic Corvette into Willow Glen Auto Electric in mid-October 2024 for service related to a suspension issue I was experiencing. I had previously used this shop for the car, but I eventually found out that it was under new ownership. (NOTE: Almost all of the reviews here are for the prior owner.) At the time the agreement was to perform a series of suspension repairs to address known and anticipated issues. After discussions it was agreed that that they would also perform a number of engine repairs to fix leaks and similar issues, to rebuild the carburetor, perform a valve job, and tune the car. I eventually reclaimed my car in February of 2025 from Alliance Automotive (Also owned by Qui Nguyen and managed by "Mo") where they had transferred the car. In spite of the shops' manager (Mo, AKA Mohammed) claiming that the work had been performed and that the car was in good shape except for an alignment, it turned out that the car was a complete mess, running poorly, with the suspension work done incorrectly and dangerously and with the car in much worse condition than when brought in. They tried to get me to sign off on accepting the car "as is" when I picked it up and tried to represent what I had paid as a "big discount" from what they would have charged for all of the work. But they never performed most of the work and the work that they did perform was done poorly and/or wrong. - They replaced a single brake caliper without notification or authorization. - They destroyed the radiator shroud, broke the fan clutch and damaged the radiator and hoses without accepting responsibility for doing so. - They installed a wheel bearing backwards, causing significant damage to the brakes and a wheel. - They installed pully and suspension brackets backwards or upside down, neglected to replace numerous bushings they were supposed to replace, and failed to install numerous cotter pins and other safety measures in the suspension components they worked on. - They lost the mounting hardware for the ignition shielding and reinstalled the shielding dangerously, without the mounting hardware. - They lost or damaged several lug nuts, returning the car with 17 of 20 in place. - They damaged the parking brake. - They cut through or dented various brake shielding plates. - They completely screwed up all of the vacuum hose routing, plugging in most of it in wrong and in ridiculous spots. - They never rebuilt the carburetor or did the valve job, as promised and charged for, and they didn't do much of the originally agreed upon suspension work. In the end it cost me a small fortune to have a competent mechanic fix their mistakes, redo their poorly done work and to put the car back together. This mechanic did an excellent job of documenting their failures with pictures and descriptions of the mistakes. These were submitted to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair and were used as the basis for a small claims action which, ultimately, was the only way to get my money back from this shop. Don't make my mistake. Look elsewhere for a trustworthy and competent mechanic. read more

Great service and a really hard working team. I had a ford f350 rebuilt after it was wrecked by a car thief. This truck was trashed with smelly garbage and family photos. John the business owner had to go through more trouble since the new transmission was missing the reverse gears. I must have called 40 times since it was a complicated job and never did I get a hint of frustration which was beyond professional almost like this crew was looking out for me. My truck had so many issues [ transmission failure / ignition broken / door handle broken / fuel filter clogged] this most likely made his crew have to push my truck in and out of their garage to finish the job. Growing up, my dad was in the auto repair industry. When I was probably around the age of 7 or 8, he opened a body repair shop. I spent my summers there working for him and when I got to high school, working for him had become a primary responsibility of mine. Until I went to college, the culture of the shop was pretty much the only professional environment I had been exposed to. Fast forward an undisclosed number of years and I find myself in an office surrounded by protocol, procedures, political correctness, and constant complaints over the most minuscule of issues, such as the air conditioning being 2 or 3 degrees too cold... or warm. So the air conditioning in my monster truck went out and I needed a reference. I'm sorry guys, but BEFORE I started a Yelp thread to inquire about a reputable establishment, I asked my dad (who now finds himself in the insurance industry and has constant business with these particular shops) for his opinion. He tells me, "Willow Glen Auto Electric. Ask for Rich." So when I get to work the next day, I call WGAE first thing. Rich tells me to bring my car in and he'll look at it. I was already aware that my ac compressor was so dead that it wasn't spinning, and therefore breaking tensioners and snapping belts. Sure enough, Rich calls me a couple of hours later to tell me just that. He let's me know what it's going to cost to repair and that, if I choose go move forward with the repair, I can pick it up first thing the following morning. I agree. So, as I'm Jedi mind tricking a co-worker into taking me home AND picking me up the next morning, my phone rings - it's about 4:45pm that same day. It's Rich. He tells me, "It's ready if you want to pick it up now." I go to pick it up and admit to him that I really didn't expect it to be completed that day. He says, "It was just a matter of getting a hold of the parts and... git-er-done!" I can't tell you how much this place brings me back. A crew of guys being guys - rippin' each other all day, dirty hands, dirty clothes, dirty office... I swear I felt like I was 10 years old again and I didn't want to leave that place. I have a 15 tdi Jetta, driving down 101 on a late night I ran over an orange caution code that was already smashed to about 4 inches tall. Car threw a cel light and I took it to the dealer as it has an extended warranty. Obviously it was an impact so they weren't going to cover the damage but I expected a fair estimate to fix properly, to my shock they quoted me $4000 dollars and said I need the entire exhaust system replaced. Obviously that seems like an insane thing to do with such a minor impact, I brought it to the guys at willow glen auto electric and they had it fixed in a day at a minimal cost (just some damaged wiring). Been going to Willow Glen Auto Elect. for years and have NEVER been disappointed in the price or service. On one occasion went into have the oil plug screw tapped out and was going to wait for them (plug issue was from prior to my owning the car - someone over tightened it). After John got the car into the air, drained oil and looked at the threads this type of oil pan is just not repairable (Audi so wasn't surprised). So rather than just putting plug back in and arranging for a ride at a later date John gave me a ride back to the office. Which was in Sunnyvale - way farther then what I would call outside the 5 to 10 miles one would expect. Got car back and it was perfect as with any service he does. Another time about 5 years ago had an odd light issue and ended up being a loose nut in the rear quarter panel - on the other side of the car. Found issue in no time and was more than reasonable $ on the repair. My only wish would be the shop was closer to me because they would handle even my oil changes in that case!
