We used Garage Monkeyz for our poly garage flooring. This review is posted after a few months to test the flooring's durability. It has held up well. The installation team missed a few spots, but returned to fix them later (after coaxing the owner or manager). It's not often that one gets to do business with a contractor that epitomizes end-to-end professionalism, but that's the only way to describe what I had with Garage Monkeyz. After scoping & scheduling the job, GM's back office was instructive and clear about how I should prep my garage space for rack installation. My installer, Brent, rolled up 5 minutes before my 8:30 a.m. appointment slot (which is the ideal earliness margin, if I may say so). He couldn't have been more easy-going and on the ball. Once I pulled my truck out of the garage, Brent loaded in his gear and got busy. Now, I'll point out that an undertaking of this magnitude would take me a week - minimum. And that would just be me mapping out an attack plan. Not Brent, though. This dude put up two full-size racks in what seemed like three hours...by himself....with (literal) laser precision. The finished product looks fantastic and Brent made it look simple (like a true pro does). I don't even think he broke a sweat. So congrats to Paul & Brent! Just wrapped up a wonderful experience with Garage Monkeyz. Everything was top-notch, buttoned up, on time and professional. They installed about a 20' shelf system with the Monkey Bars system underneath it as well as 16' of overhead storage rack. The products are outstanding, incredibly sturdy, and flexible. Much more so than products we had installed in our previous garage. Paul came out for the initial consult and demonstrated a depth of experience in selecting the right storage system, figuring out appropriate depths and offsets to accommodate our plethoras of bins (of different sizes). The team was very flexible with our schedule. Take note - they did NOT require that I clear the whole garage! They even worked around our schedule as we had so much in the garage we could only clear one area at a time. I wrote a not so flattering review several years ago regarding our aircraft hangar. In all fairness an update should have been written sooner. I had used these folks prior to do our garage and that was a flawless installation that still looks incredible after all of these years. My frustration was not with their work nor with their staff, it was the result of the product they used which they had not used prior. To their credit they spent countless hours and worked late into the nights several days in a row trying to make it work. I had a particular vision that I wanted to display our plane while in the hangar. The design they came up with was perfect and included extra details of grinding the borders and placing a diamond dust compound to make the lines crisp and distinctive. No matter how hard they worked the product kept blistering and coming up in areas. Out of frustration we called it quits and they refunded our money which says allot about them. read more

I debated writing this review, but the company actually asked me to write a review so I decided I would go ahead. After researching two-part epoxy flooring options at Home Depot and online and learning about 100% solid materials, polyurea and so on I decided to get a professional to install my floor. I found Garage Monkeyz on Yelp and they had very favorable reviews. I got quotes from a few different companies in the area and although Garage Monkeyz quote was higher than others I was more comfortable with their description of their installation process and felt they were the best choice regardless of price. Some of the other companies were not going to diamond grind the floor completely and were going to rely more on an acid etch and I knew from my research that I wanted it ground as that's the correct way to apply these materials for maximum adhesion. The crew came out on time and did all of the work as described. They ground the entire floor and applied the materials. It took pretty much the entire day and at the end of the day I had a great looking floor... but then I walked on it. The floor was very rough in a lot of places. The flake they put down was pointing upward in a lot of spots. I had asked before the job if they could either skip adding the flake or reduce the amount of flake they were going to apply since I had seen pictures of some of the floors they did and was worried about the floor being rough. I was told they had to put all of the flake down, and was assured that it would be smooth. After contacting them about the rough floor they first told me I would have to pay an additional $400 to add more clear and make the floor smoother. I reminded them that I was assured that the floor would be smooth and that I wasn't going to pay for something that should have been smooth in the first place. The owner then came out to my house with a sample tile to show my wife what it should look like. I think he may have thought we were mistaken as to the roughness. But once he saw it, he agreed that it needed to be redone... and that it indeed was too rough. He said it was probably wind that caused this issue. I don't believe that was the issue... I think they simply didn't apply enough clear the first time, or didn't apply the flake correctly... or didn't make sure it was flat enough before the clear... but that's just a guess. The crew came out the second time to fix the floor. This time they were at our house for about an hour. They did not grind the floor and as far as we could tell they simply swept the floor and then applied more clear. Remember the first time they were there it took an entire day... the second time an hour. After the second time I noticed several spots of dirt, splotches, and oil underneath the clear. They basically cleared over the floor and didn't bother to clean it well enough. Contacted them again. Sent pictures. This time they sent another guy out to spot fix the areas that had dirt/oil underneath them. So he sanded the areas and re-cleared them. Now my floor has areas that have obviously been patched which is pretty annoying for a new floor that cost thousands of dollars. The more annoying thing was that after a day or so I noticed an area that looked milky white. After inspecting it I saw that the clear was lifting out in a huge patch. Basically the clear coat wasn't sticking to the floor because they didn't bother to prep it the second time. So I had a large area that they had to come fix... again. I expressed my disappointment to the owner and said I was worried that this would be an ongoing issue since they didn't prep it the second time they came out. He told me that they DID prep it and grind it, and that I basically had some bad luck. Strange though. When they came out the last time to fix the lifted area which was maybe three feet wide, they were there for several hours. And my wife saw them sanding/grinding the floor this time. How did they sand/grind the entire floor AND apply clear in an hour when it took them nearly four hours to fix a smaller area the last time? First, I believe the owners really do care about their customers and business. We had several issues with our floor and they had their guys come back to address those problems. They either told the owners they sanded the floor the second time or the owner just assumed they did the job correctly... but they obviously did not. If I had to do it over again, I would have done the job myself. At least that way if I had to patch over areas that I messed up it wouldn't have cost me thousands. Now I have a "new" floor with several patches and am waiting for the next spot to lift. read more

Bought a brand new house recently and needed storage space desperately so I called Garage Monkeyz and Container store to see what they might propose. Representatives from both companies came out and bid on the job and we whittled them down to apples to apples. Garage Monkeyz was more expensive but it made sense because we were a lot more impressed with their product and staff (plus really good reviews on here). So... We booked them to come out and anxiously awaited the time when we could get all the boxes off the floor! If you've ever moved then you know how mind rattling having boxes everywhere can be. Here's where the problem came in. A few days before we were to get our shelves installed our rep called to let us know she made a mistake and the estimate she gave us neglected to include charges for a couple thousand dollars' worth of stuff. In other words, we weren't comparing apples to apples when we compared quotes and Garage Monkeyz was actually a LOT more expensive than container store for a similar amount of product (covering the same amount of space). Pretty disappointing but at this point we had our hearts set on getting all the boxes off the floor so we moved forward with the shelves and cancelled the portion she forgot (cabinets). Anyway... We also purchased flooring and they are finishing up today. I'd definitely rate the product very highly. Gotta give them that. However - the way this whole experience was handled deserves 3 stars so that people are aware. Definitely not a 5 star experience. We probably should have insisted that they honor the original quote for everything that was in her drawings but elected to just let it go for our peace of mind. Regardless - if you have them out for a bid I would make sure it includes everything you are expecting so there are no surprises a few days before they are supposed to install. It's also suspect to me that they have 11 reviews that are not recommended (by yelp's filter) so it's very possible they are cooking the books on some of these 5 star reviews folks. If you are looking at storage solutions, I hope this review helps you avoid some of the problems we faced. read more

They installed a incredible strong rack system in my garage so I could pull in my car and still store things above. It needed to be lowered a few inches to fit our tubs but they did that with great professionalism and ease. The owner Jane is an incredibly driven and hard working person clearly committed to provide the best solution for you. My wife and I were so impressed and happy with the results. I used Garage Monkeyz for StrongRacks overhead garage racks. I originally requested two sets of racks 8ft long by 4 ft wide. However, when the installer arrived, I realized my ceiling was too low and 4ft wide was too large. Seeing our dilemma, the "lead" installer listened to what we wanted, surveyed our garage to see what he was working in, and he provided several good options for us to choose from. I contracted Garage Monkeyz to install a set of built in shelves for storage bins in my garage. They not only did a fantastic job on the installation (great quality work, great looking shelves, and complete clean-up), Tiffany, their sales representative went well beyond what I expected. I had inquired about what storage bins to purchase for the shelving that would fit the specific dimensions of my shelves and she literally spent hours researching options. She actually went to Target and purchased examples and dropped them by my house to look at. Mind you, we were not even purchasing the storage bins from Garage Monkeyz -- just the shelving! These guys are fantastic and I highly recommend them. This is in stark contrast to a horrible experience I had with Garage Interiors. Ken at Garage Interiors took forever to schedule a time for installation. And then he did not show up on the schedule day. Not only that but he did not respond to my polite voice mails and texts inquiring about where they were. That is when I called Garage Monkeyz and got this completely different experience. I still have not heard back from Ken at Garage Interiors. Horrible. read more

Terrible customer service, terrible experience. I contacted them and had a quote given to us. I contacted them back to schedule the install. I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks so I finally called them. After she explained they were going through an acquisition, I asked if everything would be the same. (Lifetime warranty etc.) I also asked if the price would remain the same and she insisted it would. She sent me another quote (she didn't have the original), and the price increased. I asked her about it and told her I was a little put off by the whole experience. I also said I was going to look at other options due to being miffed. She told me to go elsewhere.
