I have purchased American Eagle items from Winners as well as at thrift stores and was always…read moreimpressed with the quality but never took the time to visit one of their actual locations. I was walking through Southgate yesterday however killing time before a family dinner and decided it was time to change that. My first impression upon walking into the store was extremely positive. Whoever does their merchandising as well as those who tidy up the floor do an amazing job. Everything is displayed attractively and is super neat and well organized. There is lots of staff on the sales floor so there was no difficulty trying to find someone to answer questions. Admittedly I would have liked it if they were a little friendlier though....I walked past four staff members without being acknowledged by anybody. I didn't have any issues with the people at the till either. The lady at the first register I stood in line for appeared to be a little frazzled but I think it was mostly due to the size of the line as well as the fact that the lady standing in line in front of me was being extremely difficult. I applaud this young lady for her patience as I don't know that I would have the patience to deal with someone who was asking so many ridiculous questions and getting worked up over such minor things. I was called over to the other till eventually and this other young lady was extremely pleasant. She made sure I found everything I was looking for and did a great job of explaining their loyalty card without coming off as pushy. My one and only major beef with this place and the reason I am taking off a star is because of the state of their clearance section. More than half of the things I picked up from back there did not have a sale sticker which made it very confusing as to whether or not they belonged in that section or just ended up there after being set down by a customer who changed their mind about purchasing. Like I mentioned before they have alot of people working the sales floor and I can't imagine why one of them couldn't be spared to do some pricing. Still it was a great experience and it definitely left this hardened deal hunter more open to shopping from actual store locations instead of always hitting up Winners or the Thrift shop.

I find the staff on the floor and fitting rooms are VERY helpful, we usually get greeted by one or two people, and have a few people offer help while we are browsing. HOWEVER, the staff on the registers are very rarely friendly, usually there is a HUGE line up with only one person working the register. Several times we have put our stuff down only to be told curtly that they cant help us and make us go around to the other register to the one and only person working there, and the other person continues to just stand behind the register! This is more of a 3.5 stars for me, improve the service at the registers and all will be good!

Not only were there enough staff members to serve our needs but they were able to find us some excellent items and direct us to items that fit him the way that he wanted them to fit. Certainly there are only very few Big & Tall Mens Wear stores in Edmonton (and only two George Richards Big & Tall Mens Wear locations) but this one was most excellent. The entrance is outside the mall (park on the eastern side of Safeway). This location has a lot of different garment options available including more formal wear and more casual options. I would definitely return here with my significant other should we need other similar options in the future.

When I heard Edmonton was getting a Kate Spade, I ran to check the store out when it opened last year. The store itself is adorable- it's bright, shiny, colourful and happy. The girls who work here are consistently very friendly and helpful every time. After one visit, they will learn and remember your name and greet you by name next time you visit; you don't experience that very often! My husband was a bit hesitant to walk into this girly store to buy me a present, but afterwards even he commented on the excellent customer service. If you have your heart set on a particular item, and they do not have it at the Edmonton location, they will more than happily phone the other Canadian locations to try to track it down for you. The clothing, purses, shoes and accessories are definitely not cheap, but everything is well made. I have a Kate Spade dress I bought in the US 6 years ago, and it still looks and wears great. It's very easy to become addicted to kate spade new york! If you are having a bad day and need a pick-me-up, I suggest even talking a walk around this store.

A few years ago, I debated if I should get the glasses ring and even though I didn't get it, I know it would have been a fun piece to have and I would have worn it often. So I knew the earrings that I wanted to get and the associate was very helpful to show them to me and get a new pair for me. I browsed in the store and they have some colourful clothing but I looked at the wallets towards the back of the store near the cash area. They also have some lovely purses too but I did not buy one in this store. A lovely shop to browse and shop for yourself or a gift for a special woman!

Was pleasantly surprised at the size of the store given it's expensive location (City Centre Mall) and that they carried a large variety of clothing from casual to work dress to dresses suitable for formal attire. Size wise they carry it all from XS to 3X. They had a large clearance sale going on yesterday - I'd say about 1/2 the store and all the regular items were B1G1 50% off. I love a good sale but sometimes I wish stores could or would just have normal prices rather than inflated prices to only be marked down a second after arrival to draw you in. I snagged a really cool three toned sweater poncho (gray, black, and white) perfect for my freezing cold office and nice pair of ladies black leather gloves as well as some sparkly black dress socks all for $31 with tax! They have a text message sign up program where you get 5% off your first purchase and the code comes instantly. The staff were friendly, offered to take my items while I was shopping, and quickly grabbed alternate sizes for ladies in the dressing area. The dressing room was TINY and didn't have a bench or a chair and only 2 super small hooks which barely held my winter jacket, purse, and clothes. The dressing room also did not have a mirror - you had to walk out and look at the big mirror with everyone else trying on clothes. Overall, it's pretty good and a nice pitstop to warm up before braving the cold again. Location & layout - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Prices - Eh, I hate inflated prices so 3 stars Dressing Room - 1 star (really small and yuck). I thought the store was pretty big but they didn't seem to have a lot of clothes; they had large, wide-open spaces. I guess their motto is less is more. I have to say that I liked the men's section much better than the woman's. I would totally pick up something from the men's side to dress up some guy I know who would fit that style. There were some really nice sweaters for men on sale for about $44.99. They were solid colors with a V-neck; they were nice. They also had some nice dress shirts and ties for men; the ties are about $60 a piece. The women's side was a little shocking! They had some lager-sized bags that were $125. For the style I didn't think the price justified it. The style looked really sloppy; like somebody used zigzag patterned scissors to cut the top of the bag and added some handles to it and called it a bag. What I'm saying is it's not my style. I think my style is like their store; less is more! They had some nice clothes for women but they were not my style. I think I need to grow up a little more before I would buy some of their clothes and actually feel comfortable wearing them. Their prices were just too pricy for me; I found some tank tops for $25 each. The places I usually shop at tank tops are 2 for $25. The staff seemed nice enough but they didn't ask me if I needed anything. Perhaps they new I wasn't looking to buy anything so they didn't bother with me. There was one woman who was running around helping a customer and she seemed nice and friendly. Their store was really well kept and organized. I felt out of place and too scared to touch anything! As I do reside on the Southside, and Southgate is my absolute fave mall in the city, this is my go-to BR. The customer service is always great. The staff is helpful without being too on you. And the change rooms are large with a 3 sided mirror at the end of all the rooms. The style of clothes at Banana is somewhat chic, very preppy and mostly consists of muted tones (lots of blacks, whites, tans, grays). Bold colours and crazy patterns are not to be found in this store! Season after season the clothes keep the same "feel" to them. They always use really think, structured material which I really look for in clothing - I hate thin, flimsy materials, especially for pants, shorts, blazers and jackets. Speaking of jackets, this is a great place to get a cute blazer or trench coat. But my main reason for heading into the BR, on most trips is the shiny, blingy things! They have great costume jewelry. I have many large, chunky, statement necklaces that I have bought at various locations over the years. As well cool cocktails rings, and a few bracelets. Pro Tip: When Banana has a sale, they REALLY have a sale! Join their mailing list because every 2 or 3 months they have a day or weekend when everything that is currently on sale is an additional 40% off, and they email it out when this happens. H&M is one of my absolute favourites when it comes to 'fast fashion'. While everything is pretty…read morecheap (think $20 avg price women's shirts), the designs and quality aren't terrible. I still own a H&M dress I bought in Europe (same brand and quality there..) 4 years ago. As far as this location goes, I love the fact that it's huge and decently well organized. Typically the items are on the racks where they are supposed to be and aren't just tossed haphazardly around everywhere (in other words, the employees do a good job of picking up after people). My only complaint is their sizing. I literally have to go up TWO sizes from my normal size for stuff to fit here (unless things are sized S/M/L - then it's typically pretty standard). It can be a bit of a hassle finding your size, and with a 7 item changeroom limit you can't really get the same item in a bunch of sizes and find the best fit (because, trust me, you'll find more than 7 things to try). Because of the awkward sizing they have, I'm almost sized out of their pants. Overall, though, great store, great location.
