I'm just putting it out there to save others from potential grief. The stuff for sale is crud and crap, dirty, missing parts and broken. The coats are old, dirty, ripped and they shed. Wedding dresses are over priced and soiled at the hems from the filthy floors. The selection of furniture is really lousy. The staff is friendly but really pushy in getting people in the lineups to the checkouts when they are unsure about making a purchase. The store smells and security guards are always there to oversee that someone isn't shoplifting their junk there. I just bought a jacket there. Although it was warm it was a bit smelly and ripped at the cuffs. the fur was shedding and fluff would be flying in the air as I walked. I don't know why I bought it! But I feel really burned for the hard earned money I paid for it. read more

Terrible location! While at self-checkout, I pointed out that one of the tags was damaged and could not scan properly, the clerk proceeded to go through every item in my cart and pull out everything that was under $15, saying it needed to be repriced because the prices were too low. The tags were not altered or switched in any way. WHAT A SCAM! Also very illegal... I left over $200 worth of items in the cart and walked out. read more

Always love a good thrifting day. After recently losing some weight I found myself without many clothes that fit so I decided to come here and find some new workout gear. I found a lot of great brands and at great prices. I even found some G-Star jeans for $6!! Some items are a little pricier, like a Lululemon jacket I found for $30 in excellent condition! Still a decent deal for that brand. But as with all thrifting, if you want it, buy it!!! I made the mistake of not getting the blue water cups that I was on the fence about (mostly because I have a million cups at home already). But I couldn't stop thinking about them and so when I went back later that day to get them they were gone! Ugh.... It was a little dusty in there but it's a thrift store so I somewhat accept the level of cleanliness. They restock daily so it's always a fun place to go and spend a few hours when you have patience to thrift through the things :) enjoy!!! read more

I bought a trunk and it wouldn't fit in my car. The guy that was helping at the loading exit scratch my car in 2 spots. I asked if I could come back in the morning with a friend with a truck to pick it up and they refuse to hold it until morning. I asked if I could get credit and they refused that also. Things are over priced and due to the horrible service and policies, I have made the decision that today would be my last "donation" and last visit to "VALUE" village. read more

I like to shop for used books. Recently V.V. changed to pricing every book, not just going on a flat fee for certain list book prices. I ended up not checking each book that I got their. I was LIVID when I pulled the books out a day later to see that one of the books was tagged at $19.99. It retails NEW for $9.21 on Amazon. Sorry but a USED "Brittany the Basketball Fairy" is not worth twice the cost of a brand new one. There was also another Rainbow Fairy stickers above the typical price of kids book at $7.49, still too much, but at least below new retail. As I can't return or exchange books, I guess in the future I will NEVER donate to V.V. and I doubt I will shop their again either. I'll go to a different thrift store, one that doesn't rip off people, thanks. read more

I enjoy going to your store and have made some good "Finds". I donate regularly. I have noticed over the past few months (or more), that some prices keep increasing. Not just a bit, but some items, A LOT! Since your merchandise is donated, cant understand why the increases?? I have to stop and think is this really a deal? With COVID in our lives for the past 2 years, and many people without jobs, is this really justified. Hope you review your prices and make some adjustments?? I got a job recently working at a hotel. The job comes with a uniform (shirt at least), but while I wait for my uniform to come in I need to wear clothes to work (obviously). So I have a white blouse I've been wearing, but I decided to try to go to Value Village to see if I could find another blouse. Why Value Village? I didn't want to spend $70 on some fancy blouse if I'm gonna be getting my uniform in a week or two. Thrift shopping is a skill that takes time and patience. Usually I find with thrift stores that when I'm looking for something in particular that's when I have the worst luck finding it. Value Village I usually fair better, probably because they have a pretty big store and selection (plus "a white blouse" is a pretty basic item). Being plus size there isn't as much of a selection for clothes as other sizes, but I found a few blouses. It's important to check the size tags, and if the original size is on check that too. I've seen mislabeled sizes here (larges that should be in extra large, extra large that are more of a medium), It's part of the "treasure hunt of thrift shopping." Only one of the blouses fit right (and I liked) and at a price of $7.35 (with tax) it was a no brainer to get. The store is a little chaotic with people at times, and the wait for the dressing room and the cash til took some time, but I got what I needed and at a good price. Parking is at a premium, and the lot isn't very big, so you may need to park at the Visions next door. I don't always come to Value Village, but I usually have a pleasant experience when I do shop here. read more

I really enjoy going thru all the stuff they have here. Very big store with clean, well organized product and the staff are friendly. Tons of mens' tee shirts and other clothes even in x-large sizes. Tremendous prices. Discount for 60+ seniors on tuesdays even. Hey ,for just $7.50 you buy a tee shirt and that turns you into a marathon runner,charity fun run hero,hockey player,iron man competitor, visitor to far away tourist destinations, a jazz festival officianado etc etc etc. Found a nice spring leather jacket for $11 . The only thing that I have found at Value Village is stuff for costume parties (like an ugly sweater party). When you walk into Value Village, it looks like they have a lot of stuff - kind of like a Winners for consignment. But once you look closer, you will find that all of the clothing, shoes, accessories - pretty much everything - is outdated. It's a shame because the concept behind Value Village is great. It takes used clothes and used items and sells them for cheap. So if you're on a budget, it has the potential to be a dream come true. Sadly, this location falls quite short of that. I honestly don't think that the clothes they have are even worth the cheap price tags. Everything looks like it came from a garage sale in the 70s! read more

I never thought I would be giving this store such a low review; I love this place, I come here often, and I've never had any issues. However one of the staff members has caused multiple issues in my past two visits and that's why I'm dropping my review down to one star. I also highly doubt I will ever be returning to this location as I can get deals elsewhere and be treated with respect and kindness from employees. I don't think I have ever had an experience this negative at ANY establishment in the city; let alone one I visit at least once a week. There is one woman, older age, short light red hair. Always putting clothing out on the floor. The last time I came here I was browsing something on the rack and she snatched it out of my hand, put it back on the rack, and drove the rack away. I was in such shock I could barely mutter out a "Really?" As she zoomed away from me. Also, she pushed the rack a few aisles down so it's not like she was taking it anywhere. Every other time I've seen here there I was greeted by glares and eye rolls as I walked by. Um, excuse me? I did not touch her, say anything to her, or even acknowledge her. I figured, okay, isolated incidents, maybe this woman is a crabby old bag. Not my problem. I'm sure it won't happen again. This time, she was there again. I was looking at something on the rack and she ran right into me. I said, "Sorry, excuse me," as she proceeded to not move. I tried to get around her and as I squeezed by I got a nice shove and an elbow from her as she just stood there. I'm sure other customers saw, and they have it on surveillance as well. The rest of my visit I was absolutely shaking; I was so upset and disgusted at how I was treated by this woman. I spend lots of money here, come often, and for the most part the other staff are just wonderful. I notified a front end supervisor who was very kind and respectful, and left with my items. I won't be returning, and you bet your bottom dollar I will be complaining further about this, just to higher management. Totally and utterly unacceptable. If you want to be treated with respect and dignity, don't come here. read more

The prices here now are SO expensive, nothing "thrifty" about Value Village...and definitely very, very little value! Many of the used clothing items are WAY overpriced! Seriously, I am NOT paying $13.49 for a well worn regular old t-shirt--even if it is a brand name! Some of the clothing items still have the tags on them and the Value Village price is the same and sometimes more! And you know these clothing items (like the ones from Costco) were greatly reduced from that tag price before they ended up at Value Village. Don't even get me started with the other non clothing items! Oh yeah, and no more fitting rooms?? In a store with a "no return" policy... A pretty standard Value Village location but I absolutely love the fact that this one has so much space in which to browse and a great drive up donation area! For every bin of donations that you bring in, you get a small discount on a future purchase here and that is pretty convenient for a wardrobe refresh, a costume, or some random item (media, etc.) that you might need. The change rooms were not even busy the last time I visited and so I was able to pick up a few new-to-me dresses. read more

I have been to Value Village a total of 3 times in my 10 years in the city. The reason I don't shop here is that honestly, I'm just not that creative. I need stores to put pretty outfits on maniquins because I have a really hard time putting "shapes" together, and thats essentially what clothing looks like to me - shapes, that you have to somehow fit over the shape of your body and pray that you achieve success. Basically, I find dressing myself difficult. I went to Value Village to find a couple of sweaters for a sweater party. This was the first place I thought of as the last couple times I have been, everything seemed to be circa 1980. I found exactly what I was looking for, and even had someone at the party comment that she tried the same sweater on at a store in West Ed for a Christmas party in 1988! This place makes me a bit sad. I understand the premise of it and realize it is based on donations. Most of the items I found were under 10$, but many were in poor condition and seemed like they had been heavily worn. The place is rather stale as well. Brightly lit, racks upon racks upon racks of clothing, no music and just the sound of hangers sliding back and forth. I walked out quite depressed, which prompted me to gather up some of my older clothing (older being 2-3 years) to donate. Mission accomplished Value Village. It's slim pickings at this Value Village location. All the women's clothing seemed seriously outdated, and if I did happen to find something from the last five years, it wasn't in the greatest condition. Considering most items are used and not in pristine condition, some of them are overpriced. I saw toys in their original packaging that are about the same prices as normal retail stores. Isn't the point of going to Value Village to get a bargain deal on stuff, i.e. to get things for cheaper? They have lots of selection, but it's not worth browsing through for long. I was hoping to find a few Christmas ornaments for cheap, but all of their holiday items looked so used that it's just better to get things from the dollar store. read more

In general I'm not a fan of Value Village, but now they really pissed me off. First off - the parking lot is cramped and full of pot holes. Once you get in, good luck finding anything. I went in specifically because I had heard that they had a few hair crimpers available and I needed an inexpensive one for an upcoming event. I found two where the rest of the hair applianes were. One of them was priced at $12.99 and appeared to have all the necessary parts. The other one was clearly missing one of the plates - which means it will not work properly... and was also priced at $12.99. A staff member was walking by, so I pointed it out and she simply said that she doesn't do the pricing and kept walking. I turned around and left. read more

Not sure why everyone is so down on this location. My husband and I call it the Mothership. We're big on buying books, because we almost always find something interesting (and you gotta love the buy 4, get 5th free deal!). I've found a couple of gorgeous jackets here, several sweaters that I'm complimented on constantly, and one weekend, we scored a coup of multiple books, a set of dessert glasses, several really cute shirts ad sweaters for me, and an Army of Darkness T-shirt for the hubby. He was practically squealing. For those grumping about clothes smelling funky, that's what a washer and detergent are for. I'm not buying it for what it smells like before I buy it, I'm in search of bargains I think will look good on me. That's why I wash them and use fabric softener. Initially I shopped here because we only had one income, but then I got addicted to the bargain hunting, and now I have a completely cute new wardrobe. I've also lost quite a bit of weight and am continuing to do so. I don't want to pay full price for anything until I'm at my goal weight. Even after I do though, I'll continue to shop here because I never know what I might find. Bonus? They're ENLARGING!! read more

I do not recommend shopping here! Everything here is overpriced (some things cost the same or more as if you were to buy it brand new) and alot of the stuff they put out has noticeable wear (stains, rips, holes, fading, stretched out clothing, etc) along with the toys that are always missing pieces or main parts. Whenever I've gone here I've had to search through tons of stuff (hours) just to find one okay item. There changing rooms always have long lines and are so small I can barely get into it and forget about turning around in it. Also I hate how anyone can see your legs almost up to your knee while changing and there is nowhere to set or hang your own clothes or purse, etc. There return/exchange policy is so bad they my as well not have one at all. You have a week to bring anything back with receipt and tags still on for exchange only. That's ok I guess but to make it worse you have to exchange for the full amount right then. So if you cant find anything you want right then (for the whole amount of your returned item) or dont have time at the moment to shop around then your out of luck! There lineups are almost always long and I've had some bad experiences with RUDE staff!!! I wouldn't shop here! read more

I like Value Village and I usually find some pretty neat stuff. I usually come by a couple times a week to see if there is anything new brought in. However. . . . . .As happy as I am to shop here, this particular Value Village makes me ill when I go inside. It's clean and very well organized but I start to feel nauseas and lightheaded once I'm inside. I'm not sure what is causing those symptoms but as soon as I quickly leave the store I feel better again. read more

With an ugly sweater party coming up, where was a girl to turn to find a buffet of ugly sweaters for her favourite yelpers? Well, Value Village of course. This place is pretty huge. It's sort of what you expect from the outside - flourescent lighting, kind of depressing, racks and racks and racks of clothes and household items. I have to give them points for the clothes being well-organized with nothing on the floor. A staff member was working on the womens' section when I was browsing through. I found what I was looking for and paid for my huge stack of woolly hot mess. The cashier was really nice and explained the reward/coupon/something system. It was good for what I was looking for, but I don't know if I would come back for any reason other than costumey clothes. read more

Visited this location to find a Halloween costume. I had lots of time to kill so I took my time to see if I could find some winter gear. I got winter boots in super good condition! I also found what I was looking for to make my costume. You will totally find good items, you just have to make sure you have the time. Some of the items are too expensive to be second hand but I guess that maybe has to do with the cost of goods now. Will be back for sure ! read more

I was extremely insulted and embarrassed at this Value Village located at 10127-34th Ave, Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday April 26th at 18:26 pm. Phone 780.414.5859 I have been shopping at your stores in Edmonton for over 15 years, and also donating to your drop off points. Today my husband and I decided to go to the store on 34th Ave and Parsons Road, previously I was at my mothers house and we told her we were going to the one on Fort Road and she said we should go to this one. BIG MISTAKE. My husband and I thought that would be a good idea since we both had never been to this store before. We walked in commented at how large it was and I started looking at the jewelry racks at the front, making my way over to the glass countered jewelry. I saw a few pieces I would like to buy so I walked over to one of the checkouts and asked the cashier to page someone to the jewelry counter. I waited by the counter and noticed the girl at the till had left. Which at the time I thought was strange, as I had heard no page. As I was waiting a man walked up and told me I had been banned at this location and had to leave. I told him i have never even here before and asked for the name of the person who had been banned, as I would be more then happy to show him ID. He told me he did not know their name but I looked exactly like them and had the same hair and that I had to go. I asked to speak to a manager. He said he was the manager, I asked him for a card but he gave me a one with Paula Murrin's info on it and told me to talk to them. I asked for his name and he said it was David. This whole situation is laughable for the following reasons: 1. I just got extensions put in my hair 2. Someone who looks "exactly" like me is not going to have the same tattoos as me. 3. If I was said banned person... Why the heck would I go to a register and ask to be served? Wouldn't I have been hiding in the back? Or creeping around? 4. Once again If I was said banned person wouldn't I have run out the door as soon as I saw David? As he said he was the one that banned me? Why would I have waited for him to walk up the counter and why the heck would I have asked him if he was going to help me with the jewellery? Apparently your store needs to get a grip on your "banning" policy. Painting every girl with the same colour hair as one and the same person, when you have no ID or name to put to a "banned" person, is so completely unprofessional it is hard to believe it could actually happen. I am an upstanding member of the business community and I cannot believe how horrible I was treated. I have never been banned from anywhere in my life, and I don't appreciate being type cast as someone who looks "shady" just because my hair has some black tips on the bottom and I have some tattoos. I would like to know how you plan to restore my customer confidence in your business. As of right now I have none. This place is usually decent with their prices, in that I don't see a lot of over priced gouging happening at this location (unlike the Clareview location, which is absolutely terrible for over pricing stuff). However, the older staff members are always incredibly rude no matter what the circumstances are (busy store, quiet store, it doesn't matter). I've yet to have this problem with the younger staff members, who have always been nice and helpful. All in all, its a good thrift shop to stop at for the fun finds, and I'll continue to do so; Rude staff or not. read more

I love going here because there is rarely a time I go that I dont' find something I needed. I especially am appreciative of the prices because when I competing in figure I changed sizes alot so this was one way to keep the costs of clothing down. True there are the sad trips that result in nothing or only poor quality but I think they do pretty well with organization, quality and pricing. That and lately all the clothing smells like freshly done laundry which is a definite perk! The one downside is that they tend to mark up name brands a little more lately, good condition or not. read more

A large selection of clothing but styles may not be what everyone desires. Some clothing is fairly highly priced. Found a nice shirt with no price tag on it so I took it to the till when I ready to leave and the manager needed to be called to price the item. She took the item and disappeared and came back a few minutes later with a price of $19.99. No, I refused to pay that price when a new one would have only been about $25.00. And not only that it desperately needed washing around the neck area. The fact that the manager who went to do the pricing looked like high school age didn't help either - lack of experience on pricing. The selection of books is good - have found a lot at this location. Buying 4 and getting the 5th one free is a nice bonus. Finally have fixed some of the potholes in the parking lot which makes parking easier. Some houseware items are highly priced - knick-knacks too - when the Dollarama sticker at the bottom says $1.25 and Value Village price tag next to it is $2.00 - then somebody needs a major overhaul of their pricing techniques. read more

If you go to Value village hoping that you'll find Guess jeans or designer wear then please dont go there. But if you want cheap stuff just for the time being, then its a place you should definitely go and check it out. Especially this location. Its a big store with a lot of variety. Everytime my wife and I go there we find a lot of stuff we can use and cheap as well. I usually go for books and my wife go for art and cafts items and she finds tonns of items there at throw away price. I would definitely recommend this location which I find best among other Value Village locations. read more
