The person who makes it well known she is the boss, can be very vocal and irritating. She says things like "You know how I feel about saying things twice" and "what have I said about doing this. It is a constant, loud conversation that never stops. I don't go there as much as I used to due to my high anxiety and wanting to tell her to stop. Take your conversations somewhere private and let us shop in relative peace. I have been a retail manager for 25 years and would have been having conversations with my District manager if I did this in public. I ask the foundation to have a chat with this lady about professionalism and mutual respect and caring. Please.

I am great full it is so close to my house as an easy drop off and I like to have a good snoop around if when I do. I have found great pieces including $1.50 tee, $4 dress, $10 vintage leather unworn ankle boots and more - but the stock fluctuates and because they are a smaller store, you may strike out. It's still fun to look around and enjoy the hunt! The racks are a little too full for my browsing preferences and, on my most recent stop, the store generally seemed a bit more disorganized than usual. I love the creative displays - you can tell they put some effort into making it more than just racks! I also usually experience a lot of warmth from the staff though staff today were not quite as friendly as usual. They have bathrooms available for the public (!) and run with both employees and volunteers. This is the southern-most thrift store that I know of - just south of the Henday off 91st street - so it's easy for some of us to get to and definitely worth a thrift stop!

If you want to go in person they enforce masking and capacity limits. They have a big selection of items from furniture and home goods to art and music and books etc. The Core Principle of Find is: FIND believes in the core principle of the Housing First program which states that "Every person has a right to as safe and secure home. " This is the same principle that has established planning at all levels of government in the effort to end homelessness." This is one of the best used retail locations int he City in my opinion. Was visiting my masseuse again, and had the day off so I thought, why not? Some really decent used quality furniture. I found some good books, and I was also in the market for some type of art for my upstairs bathroom that would tie the pale green walls to the brown ceramic tile. Found 2 panels with seashell-type motifs that would do nicely. Also, I recently had floor to ceiling bookshelves put in one room of my house, and was thinking the other day that I need a stool or a tuffet (more decorative than the plastic one from Canadian Tire) to thumb through my cookbooks for the perfect recipe. Score! Ignore the hideous plaid cushion. I have some foam cushioning I can repurpose, and will be recovering it. The top is hinged for storage, and it was only TEN BUCKS! Plus, I LOVE all the community help they provide. As an alternative to Value Village, that is pretty great. Am going to stop in regularly now to see what's new.

I brought in 28 items which were in pristine/brand new condition, clean, beautifully steamed and in garment bags. The majority of items had not been worn more than once. Five of the items did not sell, however, I was shocked at how little the cheque I received was. I asked to see her list of consigned items by me which indicates both her asking as well as sold prices. Again, very suprised. Aritzia items were priced about the same or higher than higher end brands such as Love Shack Fancy, Tularosa, L'Academie LA, Parker, etc - several items that retailed for between $250-$650 each were priced for $28. Mavis' excuse was that she didn't know the brands. A real shocker as anyone who purports to be a higher end consignor should be up to date and familiar with the logistics of sourcing information on price checking. A quick search by me turned up most items in a matter of minutes. At the very least, Mavis could simply have asked me and then verified the prices since I stood beside her as she unpacked and checked the labels and condition of the clothing. Another thought would be to occasionally check the websites of local higher end boutiques to stay current on their brands and pricing since these items, I imagine, she would hope to eventually receive in her shop. The final disappointment was having four of the five unsold items (one was missing altogether) returned to me literally rolled up in a ball and thrown into a bag. I expected to received these back in the same condition as I brought them in. Needless to say, I will not be using Good Stuff Consignment in the future.

They are selling clothing with holes and rips in it. This store at one point was run well and organized and had decent products. But it looks like they are selling lots of junk for a lot of money. The books are not even categorized properly. It's hard to walk in the store and evertime I go I end up with a panic attack. They are running this store like the ones in the USA. I am really bringing to wonder if they even support people with challenges anymore. Save your time and go to value village.

Out Of Your Closet is nicely tucked in a strip mall-like area, so passing nearby traffic is not nearly as hazardous as it would be in a different location (and their parking lot feels very safe because of it). -Out Of Your Closet has given me the perfect reason to organize my house by regularly assessing what my family and I own to find items we don't use as much as we thought, clothing that no longer fits, etc. to bring in for donation. -Most importantly: THE OWNERS! Of course I've been checking out garage sales and thrift stores for the gift exchange, so I popped into the Bissell Centre Thrift Shoppe on 118 to see what they had. The store isn't is an okay size, but its pretty crowded, particularly in the household and random hodge podge aisles on the west side of the store. You can't have more than one person in the aisle, but on the upside I guess that means more stuff to peruse through. Apparently there can be good deals on books, but I didn't really check that out. I was more flabbergasted at all the childhood items of mine that were there, like the weird Ikea space lamp I had as a kid, or the very 90s floral jewellery box I used to own. It was like entering the twilight zone - or stuff from the 90s and early 00s are now thrift shop worthy. This is a thrift shoppe so prices are pretty cheap. It should go without warning that quality isn't going to be 100%. These are donated items so you have to decide if the cost is worth it for you to fix/upgrade/repurpose whatever you buy, since there may be wear and tear (or more) to the items here. Of course you could also pick up something in great condition - all part of the joys on thrift shopping. The Bissell Centre is a great local organization that helps low income Edmontonians . Everything in the Bissell Centre Thrift Shoppe is donated and the money here goes toward other Bissell Centre programs and initiatives. It's pretty cool to save some money, while helping the larger community at the same time. If you're in the area, and like a good bargain The Bissell Centre Thrift Shoppe is worth checking out.

Fantastic little place…read more The book section is not nearly as big as it used to be, it's downright tiny really (honestly, now likely the smallest of any thrift shop in the city), but I did notice that they seem to receive good titles, in great condition, and they are very very well priced. They do have many *new* goods as well as the standard used items you typically find in thrift shops, which is a result of many corporate donations. Something that I've noticed is more common in smaller true charity shops. Despite the size of the store, there is an impressive small furniture section at the back. A much better selection than you would typically find at Value Village. I feel that this is a good place to look for higher end labels, not priced as high as VV & Goodwill, and not as picked over as some other places, proportionally a great selection given the size of the shop. I spotted a couple of pairs of super cute Michael Kors wedges in brand new shape for $20 (black and tan, in 6.5 & 8, respectively - same style). I actually ended up buying a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies for $18, that are current season and selling at The Bay for $155. A bit of a hassle if you want to try anything on though, as there is a three item limit for the change rooms and you need to ask a clerk to unlock the door for you. Also, bigger ticket shoes are displayed in singles. I suppose both of these are a reflection of the higher crime rate in the neighbourhood. Free parking abounds though, which goes far to bring me in. Anyway, you can't really go wrong with a place like this: thrift shops have many social, environmental and economic benefits... the only thing they harm is my closet space.
