Very shocked and disappointed as a seller with the lack of care and lack of professionalism in how the owner of Good Stuff Consignment conducts her business. I brought in 28 items which were in pristine/brand new condition, clean, beautifully steamed and in garment bags. The majority of items had not been worn more than once. Five of the items did not sell, however, I was shocked at how little the cheque I received was. I asked to see her list of consigned items by me which indicates both her asking as well as sold prices. Again, very suprised. Aritzia items were priced about the same or higher than higher end brands such as Love Shack Fancy, Tularosa, L'Academie LA, Parker, etc - several items that retailed for between $250-$650 each were priced for $28. Mavis' excuse was that she didn't know the brands. A real shocker as anyone who purports to be a higher end consignor should be up to date and familiar with the logistics of sourcing information on price checking. A quick search by me turned up most items in a matter of minutes. At the very least, Mavis could simply have asked me and then verified the prices since I stood beside her as she unpacked and checked the labels and condition of the clothing. Another thought would be to occasionally check the websites of local higher end boutiques to stay current on their brands and pricing since these items, I imagine, she would hope to eventually receive in her shop. The final disappointment was having four of the five unsold items (one was missing altogether) returned to me literally rolled up in a ball and thrown into a bag. I expected to received these back in the same condition as I brought them in. Needless to say, I will not be using Good Stuff Consignment in the future. read more

Mavis has such a good eye, the prices are very reasonable for high end items. I never leave here empty handed. I continue to visit this store - their collection is smaller then most places but it's because they've meticulously inspected each item. read more

I purchased a pair of shoes and when I got home I noticed they were damaged. I immediately contacted Mavous the owner and I wasn't even asking for a refund I suggested exchanging them for something else in the store. She said she would not accept them back and was unaware of any damage in a very rude righteous manner. Save yourself a trip and don't bother with the unprofessional-ism of this store there are other consignment store owners who stand behind their products and don't sell damaged goods and then lie about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've had a couple experiences with this shop. My first was several years ago when a friend of mine suggested I bring my clothes to a consignment store. I had no idea what a consignment store was at the time. I waited outside in my old car just before the shop opened. The owner parked beside me and opened up the store - shortly after I walked-in with my garbage bag full of clothes. I felt immediately judged by the owner with her looking me up and down, assessing me. She only looked at a couple clothing items and told me this store is for high end designer clothing only and told me to go elsewhere. I left feeling so embarrassed. I went again a few months ago and this time I had a few designer brands with me. I was acknowledged when I came in, but I still felt instantly judged. I was immediately informed that they are by appointment only, which is fine but the way she told me was a little rude. Perhaps she has that noted somewhere, but I didn't see any information online about that. Even with the designer pieces I brought in (one still had the tag on it), I still felt she was very rude and judgmental. She seemed to warm up after I bought a couple pairs of jeans though. Interesting. Their shop is small, but the selection was alright. I was surprised with some of the pieces that were accepted into the shop (not designer and/or showing wear). I ended up selling two pieces and my cheque was only $55. I was expecting more than that given that one of those pieces was reg. $350. I think I'd try Kijiji before going with a consignment store again. I certainly won't be going back to this place though. No one should be made to feel less than regardless of how they dress or what items they bring in. I refuse to support a business like this. Good Stuff opened recently and I am SO glad!! Besides it being within walking distance from my place, the owner, Mavis Begquist is so very nice and quite helpful :-) She carries really good pieces (wide range of designer and also "regular" pieces from Banana Republic, for example) and for each time I have gone, I have managed to find something that is within my budget and to my liking. Her shop carries a wide variety of styles without being packed to the rafters and in fact, her place is a nice boutique size with ample parking (she is off the round about at 107Ave & 142Str). I have also seen her interact with consigners which is also very good. Like all consignment shops, each one needs to be "selective" in what they take in and my observation of the conversation had with one of her consigners was quite diplomatic for the pieces she felt she couldn't take and also for those pieces she would, very happy to do so seeming positive about their "sellability" :-) In fact, it seemed like someone was already eyeing something just brought in by the person with whom Mrs. Begquist was speaking. I go in every few weeks now to see what is "new" and she is always quite helpful in pointing out things that may be to my liking (since she asks if there is something I am looking for). I drive by Good Stuff everyday, and I finally stopped in to take a peek. I am an avid consignor and consignment shopper, so I was quite excited to check it out. As soon as I walked in I was impressed with the decor, it was very clean and modern. It is the smallest consignment boutique that I have been to in Edmonton. Unlike other consignment boutiques, Good Stuff is arranged with tops and bottoms together; and sweaters, suits, and jackets separate. I prefer having bottoms separate with skirts, shorts, and pants in their own sections. But overall it was organized very nicely and only took about an hour to go through all of the racks. The change rooms were spacious and have lights that are motion activated, a nifty little feature that I appreciated. The clothes are higher end, there were very few items from Jacob, Smart Set, Ricki's, and that sort of store. I was happy to see brands like Free People, Ella Moss, and Alice & Olive at reasonable prices. I did however feel that the demographic who would shop here would be 30s-50s. I was still able to find items that appeal to my age group, but not as much as I had hoped for. Overall, I feel Good Stuff is a great addition to the consignment options in Edmonton and I will definitely be back to check out their winter selection once they get more items on the racks. read more

My mom (50) and I (20) have been shopping here for years, and it's become our favourite clothing destination! Interesting, unique designer clothing with a price tag similar to that of Zara. Best consignment in the city. Great quality clothes, beautiful store, and friendly owner. Something for everyone. I love that I have pieces in my wardrobe that no one else has. Dear Mavis, I checked your company out on line, prior to bringing my clothes in and I have to agree with the comment, that the staff, in general, are very rude to consumers! I found their "whisperings" with co-worker re: my clothing was extremely rude. I also feel your prices are too high, compared to other boutiques. Since I signed the contract, I assumed that the store was taking the 13 items listed. In fact I was told when to check back. Now I get a notice that none of my 13 items are good enough for your store! Shame on you, you should do a more thorough check of items, BEFORE you agree to take them on consignment. I will be posting this comment on your business post; to warn others that your business is not worth the trouble of laundering, dry cleaning and transporting items to your store. I am not going to drive the hour it takes to get to your store, so please donate my items to charity. I have consigned with this awesome shoppe as well found some great treasures to come home with me. Mavis of GOOD STUFF is most kind and very helpful. The store has a wonderful boutique feel. She carries some interesting and unique pieces. There is a fabulous selection of shoes for those shoeoholics. You must stop in and check out this little consignment gem in Edmonton. I just came across this store last week and I have already been back. I had great success on both my visits. Like all consignment stores, there are a lot of items that might appeal to older ladies; however there are still lots of items that are young, modern and fun. I found that most of the clothes were higher end brand names and even some really high end designers. Unlike a lot of other consignment stores, there was not a lot of junky poor quality items so I think the owner must closely scrutinize what goes on the racks (which is great because I hate going through racks of junk). The prices were great too and I got some really amazing deals. I will definitely be a regular at this store. If you like going to consignment stores to hunt for some treasures at a great price, this is the place to go!!! read more
