This company came out today, understanding that our coil had broken and needed to be replaced. The quote over the phone was $350. My husband said fine due to having limited time. The technician came out and said that replacing the coil was NOT possible. You can NOT buy just a coil, and the whole system needs to be replaced, costing close to $1000. My husband told him that it wasn't happening because the door was only $400. The guy got hot and argued, leaving the conversation with "We're all freaking broke." As if that would persuade my husband to buy his services. He then sat in his truck on the phone for maybe 10 minutes, like he was trying to come up with something to sell us. My son then ran to Menards, found a replacement coil for $60, and fixed it for us. The door works great now... $60, not $1000! This company is a bunch of scammers looking to rip off people. Go anywhere else! UPDATE: When we reviewed this place, a guy from the company started texting my husband. He said he would refund the service fee and adjust our door for "free" if we would take down our negative reviews. Now it's clear why there are no negative reviews. This person also reached out to me on Yelp. We are not going to be bought or upsold. I feel sorry for people paying this company's ridiculous prices thinking its a good deal. read more

I specifically asked that the maximum cost would be $350 and the lady reassured me that is the case. They were very prompt and came out within an hour, however the technician informed me that the cost is $350 per spring thus the total cost would be $700. He went in to try to upsell to better springs for a total cost of $850 explaining the ones I currently had on my garage door were better than he could provide for $700. I paid the $25 fee and sent him on his way. An hour later a different company came out and replaced both springs for $290. My garage door is now working great. Justin from Garage Door Pros came out today on a Saturday and did work at my condo. I scheduled them based on Yelp reviews. Though a new condo owner here, I have an older Liftmaster and the operation of the door was getting increasingly noisy. So, time for a consultation before disaster strikes, right? Justin replaced the cables and some vintage plastic wheels with nice new metal ones. (The others didn't need replacement.) The door now raises and lowers quietly. He patiently answered all my questions (and those of my neighbor who happened to come home while he was working.) He showed me how the system can operate in case of a power failure, and at my request, sold me and programmed a newer opener control to keep in my car. From the time of booking, they kept me apprised of status and estimated time of arrival via text. Then, they sent me an emailed receipt. Fantastic service. My senior citizen mother and I both had our cars trapped inside the garage on a Sunday morning. There was a snow storm coming Monday night and obviously we had appointments (and work) to get to on Monday, so naturally we were very concerned about being able to get out of the garage ASAP. I originally thought we had a broken cable, but apparently both springs were broken and needed to be replaced. Our cars were unscathed during the process. I am a very happy customer. I called this morning to get my garage door fixed, having no idea the time involved or cost associated with garage door motors. Mike came out at 2:30PM today, the same day, to give me an estimate. It turns out that there was a gear that broke in my motor. We discussed the pros and cons of fixing our existing motor vs replacing the entire thing (it is from the 1980s), but Mike said the motor was well maintained. We opted to fix the existing motor, Mike had the part in his truck, and everything was fixed within 35 minutes! A nice, friendly guy, who didn't try to put pressure on me to do the more expensive upgrade. Loved it, and when I do eventually replace the garage door motor (when I get some additional electrical work done in my garage), I'll definitely call Garage Door Pros again. read more

It's my opinion this company is much better at marketing than it is at fixing garage doors. I will not be recommending these guys to anyone after all the complications from replacing a seemingly simple spring. It took three different service trips and as many technicians to get my garage door working correctly after a series of mishaps. Here's my story... A young service guy came out to replace a broken spring and suggested I do both springs and all the rollers, which I agreed to do. After he installed everything, the door would not open correctly. It kept hanging up and making loud banging noises as it opened. He tried aligning the track, but it didn't help much. In fact, he broke the heads off of at least three lag bolts and cracked the header employing so much force. Something was not right with the new "larger" rollers. At that time, the door sometimes worked right but I wasn't able to test it more than a few times as the technician claimed it would burn out the motor. I reluctantly paid the $700.00 bill as he assured me it's all covered under a five-year warranty. Come to my surprise, later that day the door wouldn't work right so I called and scheduled a second service call. A few days later, another guy came out. I think it was the owner. He said the track needs to be aligned and started working on it. After about an hour of banging, prying and using high-impact tools, the garage door was still not working right. Actually, he had done so much damage to the tracks they needed to be replaced (see pictures). He tried convincing me the mutilated and misaligned tracks were all normal. But I wasn't buying it as the rollers were hanging up on the burs he had just created. I knew it was a matter of time before things would break down again. We discussed the options and he agreed to install new tracks at his expense. After carefully looking over the damage he caused to the tracks, I decided to try and salvage it myself. I didn't have the confidence in their installing and aligning a new track system when they couldn't even align my old one. Anyway, I used a c-clamp and channel locks to bend the track back into a usable shape. I then painstakingly filed down, by hand, all the burs he created. I then placed a block of wood behind where the two tracks come together to keep them aligned. Come to my surprise, it all worked. I then screwed in a metal bracket to reinforce the header, preventing it from splitting any further. Anyway, about a week later, another guy arrived to install new tracks. I explained I worked on the tracks and wanted his opinion on my work and to confirm they would warranty it. He said it looked fine, so I had him replace all the bolts they had stripped out and install another lag bolt into the top track above the header where it had split. Instead of drilling a simple hole into the track and header, the third tech used an existing hole for the new lag bolt. The problem is this is where two headers meet. Who puts a lag bolt sandwiched between two seams where headers meet? Moreover, the installer also said he needed to rework the springs that the original tech installed. What gives, I thought? With all the positive reviews, how can I be encountering so many problems? My advice to anyone hiring this company is to ask questions and carefully inspect their work. According to my firsthand experience, it appears the quality of their workmanship is now in question. read more

I called them in the morning and they were able to come out at my earliest availability to provide a quote. Mike was knowledgeable and straightforward, and he didn't try to upsell me on anything. He was able to repair my existing garage door opener on the spot, and he demonstrated what the issue had been by showing me the busted part that needed to be replaced.
