Do not use! Took 6 times to complete a 1 day garage installation. Extremely disappointing experience! I would absolutely not recommend this company based on my experience. What should have been a simple garage door job turned into a ridiculous number of problems, return visits, and time I had to take away from work. First, they tore down my weather stripping even though they were NOT supposed to touch it. While doing that, they scratched up the aluminum around my garage door. They then had to come back to replace the weather stripping and repair the aluminum they damaged. When they replaced the aluminum, they installed the WRONG COLOR, so I had to schedule ANOTHER appointment for them to come back and fix their mistake. Then the garage door started making noises, came off the track, and almost fell. Yet again, I had to arrange another service call to have them come out and fix it. As if all of that wasn't frustrating enough, they also completely NO-SHOWED for one of my scheduled appointments. I rearranged my schedule and made myself repeatedly available for appointments--all of which were only necessary because of their own mistakes. After all of these issues, I asked for a reasonable adjustment to my bill. Considering the damage they caused, incorrect repairs, repeated service calls, no-show, and the amount of my time that was wasted, I don't think that was an unreasonable request. Instead, I was extremely disappointed with their response and lack of accountability. One mistake is understandable. This wasn't one mistake. It was problem after problem after problem. When you hire and pay a professional company, you shouldn't have to repeatedly take time off work so they can come back and correct damage or mistakes from previous visits. I gave them multiple opportunities to make things right and I was extremely kind and patient throughout it all. Unfortunately, based on the workmanship, inconvenience, and way my concerns were handled afterward, I cannot recommend this company. read more

Posted my job in the afternoon on a Saturday through Yelp and this company immediately picked it up and we're ready to come out that day. Pushed them off to Sunday and they came out and completed the job in a very timely fashion. Really appreciated the quick response and the weekend work. Clearly knowledgeable about garage doors and well skilled in repairs. Would be the company I call first next time. read more

Updated as of March 17, 2026 After giving this company the opportunity to address my concerns, I was left more disappointed by the response than the original experience. The wall button failed after only one year. While this was acknowledged, it was attributed to the manufacturer(defective button), and no replacement or meaningful resolution was offered. That approach made it unclear what accountability customers can expect when a product fails so quickly. The response primarily addressed communication issues, but did not meaningfully address the other concerns. It also emphasized that the garage door is now operational, which, while expected, does not reflect the overall experience. There were multiple scheduling issues, poor communication, an unreturned call, an unclear diagnostic charge, and a two-week delay in receiving a receipt after I requested it. It was also not addressed that at no point--either during installation or the recent service--was an extended warranty offered or discussed, which would have been important given the circumstances. Getting it working is the baseline--how issues are handled is what matters most. Original posted March 4, 2026 Our garage door button stopped working EXACTLY one year after installation. Our original button(when we moved in our house)lasted over 10 years -- this replacement barely lasted one year. Scheduling was a headache with multiple missed or shifted appointment windows. When the technician finally arrived, no diagnostic work was done, yet we were charged money for that service-- which we were later informed by staff that we shouldn't have been charged. After more calls and follow-ups, the owner eventually came out himself and replaced the button. The door now works, but communication about charges and refunds was unclear, and I had to request a receipt. What went well: * Owner eventually came out * Issue was fixed * Staff is polite and cordial * The button failed after only one year, indicating poor product quality * Multiple scheduling issues * Improper charge for diagnostic services * Poor communication and unclear warranty terms * An extended warranty was not offered or discussed at the time of installation last year, nor was one offered during service this year * I left a message on Saturday, 2/14/26, and my call was not returned * A receipt was not provided at the time services were rendered; I had to request one and did not receive it until two weeks later read more

Best price, fast response time/service, and very professional. My garage door broke late Friday night, and they had it fixed before i ate lunch on Saturday. The price was about half of what i was expecting. AND they tuned my whole door up. It's never been quieter! Highly recommend. A+++ read more

It was 8 o'clock at night and I went out to get the garbage cans when the spring on the garage door snapped. I called the original installer of the door and of course got an answering machine. I left a message and called a friend for help the next day. They told me about Proper Garage Doors and said they were very good to them. So I called and Chris, the owner, answered the phone himself. After trying to negotiate a time for the next day and mentioning my wife is in the hospital. Chris said I can come out tonight for a small after hours charge, a very reasonable $50. From the time I called to the time, Chris left was less than an hour and a half. In today's world where can you get that kind of experience. Additionally, upon arrival Chris reviewed with me before he started the things he would be looking at and what what the cost might be. I figured I'd be paying for all of them, but when he was done, Chris said the other parts were fine and he didn't see a need to change them. He even made some adjustments to make the door run smoother. He more than exceeded my ex expectations and I can't recommend Chris and Proper Garage Door enough! read more

Our garage door spring broke on a Sunday (of course) with the car trapped inside the garage. I called Proper Garage Doors after seeing all the positive reviews on Yelp. I called and expected an outrageous price to fix on the weekend. To my surprise, the price was lower than I expected the regular service call to be. They were out within 2 hours and fixed everything in under 20 minutes. Very friendly and professional company. Highly recommended. read more

Excellent professional service. Chris responded quickly and efficiently. He recommended that I get a new door as it is 18 years old and used constantly but there was no pressure. He helped brace my garage door to extend its life possibly a couple more years, which helps me a lot financially right now. (Prices have sky rocketed as we all know). I saved them in my contacts as I will be referring them every chance I get and calling them when the inevitable happens and our door needs replacing. Thank you Chris and your crew for helping us out. read more

I'm very satisfied with Proper Garage. My garage was not opening or closing, and I had some broken springs that needed to be replaced. The owner, Chris, came out himself, figured out what the problem was, explained the necessary repairs (I also needed some new tracks and seals around the garage door), and he got it done quickly at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them! read more

My garage opener stopped working on a Monday night. I put out a service call right away. Proper Garage Doors responded promptly , and could have been out the next day, but we were both tied up at work all day so we scheduled for Wednesday. Chris came out on schedule and had us back up and running in a half hour, and at a reasonable price. He and the gentleman with him (sorry I cannot remember his name) were both very friendly and professional. Based on my experience with Proper Garage Doors I would recommend them to anyone in the area. Thumbs up! read more

One of my springs broke on my garage door and I called Proper Garage Door to see if they could replace both springs. I also have a five year warrenty. Chris is a great guy and knows what he is doing. I highly recomend Chris and Proper Garage Doors for any type of garage door repairs. read more

Wasted four hours of my Saturday and never contacted me or showed up after calling, texting and messaging on here. Completely unprofessional. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Chris was super easy to work with and not only took a call well into the evening, but offered to have someone out the same night. The Lions were on and beating the Packers, so I waited for Doug to come out the next morning. The spring that broke on my garage door wasn't a normal size, but Doug stopped by the office between other jobs and came back in the evening (on a Friday!!) to handle our job. Doug knocked out the work and made sure I was completely happy before leaving. Def recommend! read more

A good group to work with got our quote the same day within a few hours of having them come out to look at the garage door. Was also able to schedule installation the following week, even with it being right around the holidays. The crew came out and installed everything and showed us how to use and program the door with the app and our cars. read more

Quick and professional service. The team was out to my house within an hour of requesting service.

Our garage door cable on one side broke due to age and corrosion, and our door was stuck halfway open and inoperable. I called and spoke with the owner, Chris, who was already on his way to another repair in our subdivision. When I told him what happened he was able to provide a quote and set up an appointment for house call. So, in about 12 minutes after I called, Chris arrived in the driveway ready to fix the issue. He had the parts, tools and knowledge to restore our garage door to full functioning and also inspected the second door for condition, and sprayed all the moving parts with the proper lubricant. Very pleased with Chris and his skills. Will call him again in the future for any garage door concerns. Jon C. read more

Our garage door bound last night, luckily in the open position. Reached out to Proper in the morning they were very responsive and were out in a few hours to address our concern. The repair person was very professional and did not try and sell us anything that we did not need. Costs were lower than we expected and we are happy with the repair!! read more

I had a broken spring so I called the contractor (All-Star) that repaired the spring previously. They couldn't come out until 5 days later so I called Proper. They came out within about an hour of the phone call. Chris pointed out that the contractor who installed the broken spring installed a spring that was not designed for an insulated door, which I have. Chris installed the "Proper" heavy duty spring and replaced two broken hinges. The bottom panel of my door had a crack which caused it to bow. Chris also installed a strut which improved the performance of the door and will extend the life of the door. Chris gave us an honest and professional level of service that we appreciated. We will not hesitate to use him again. We highly recommend him. read more
