Excellent cocktails and excellent service! This place is located inside a parking garage downtown, so if you don't know what you're looking for you can probably get a little lost. The wait wasn't terribly long and it was certainly worth it! The Indian paintbrush, and bees knees were very well crafted here. They have an extensive selection of different liquors and mixers, so if there's something you don't see on the menu they can surely whip it up for you. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area and wanting some cocktails! read more

The Garage has delicious cocktails, a swanky and fun atmosphere, and excellent service! The Indian Paintbrush and Old Fashions are my favorite cocktails at the Garage. This place is always on my list of bars to take friends and family when visiting Austin. I highly recommend this place. Cheers! read more

If you're looking for a great cocktail and a fun environment- this is your place. It's a bit tricky to find; but that's the fun of it. Just ask the parking attendant if you can't find the front door. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday (the day after Christmas) and it was pretty quiet. We grabbed a spot at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail while we were waiting on our nearby dinner reservation (at Peché). It was still happy hour and I opted for the French 75, which turned out to be one of the best French 75's I've ever had. My husband ordered a Tito's martini up with a twist; which he also commented was one of best martinis he's had in a while. The bartender was great and really took his time to carefully craft each drink. We ended to leaving after the one cocktail in order to make our dinner reservation but ended up coming back to Garage to finish the night. It's definitely a place that livens up as the night progresses and was quite busy and loud when we left around 11pm. Overall: great spot for a cocktail (or two or three) but I'll probably stick to earlier hours since it's a little quieter and more mellow. But if a scene and a crowd is a little more your thing- the later hours would be great for you. We will definitely be back! read more

Very unassuming place, from the outside. Awesome, quaint little place on the inside. Friendly staff and cool place to hang out! Would highly recommend! read more

Garage - View of the bar. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

Yesterday was my second time visiting Garage. The last time the place was packed and loud. Yesterday was a lot different, probably with so many folks still out Black Friday shopping. We only had drinks and so that's what my review is based on. I ordered the Old Fashion which was perfect. My other counterparts order a daiquiri which I tasted. I wasn't a fan, very heavy on the lime. The low light setting with candles placed through out the quaint space is a perfect date night setting or chill spot for low key spot for HH with the the crew. read more

I love Garage Bar! Such a cool atmosphere and relaxing vibes. It's a really nice, laid back place to catch up with a friend and the cocktails are amazing! :) read more

This place is excellent. Asher made some great cocktails and I appreciated her take on a traditional gimlet. It's a great place for a date or low-key night with friends. Older, professional crowd. I hope this place stays in business, but it really needs to step up its music game. Phil Collins on repeat is JUST TOO MUCH. read more

Loved loved loved this place. Drinks were so delicious and atmosphere was dimly lit but also cozy. Indian Paintbrush is my recommendation. Must go if you're in Austin! read more

Overall it was on track to be an extremely fun night. Great venue. We had a big group and we were celebrating an event together. The experience went from 5 star to 2 star because of the service - we spent nearly $1K and the bartender shamed us for not tipping enough, saying that the standard was 20%, when we had tipped 11% on the bill ($100 on a $832 bill). To be clear this was a bill with only bartending drinks and no food service. She made this into an issue, then apologized shortly after the fact, admitting that she felt her behavior was unprofessional. Overall great venue but discouraged by entitled service. read more

Great mood lighting. Quite like the seating layout for 2 people. But if I had to sit on an ottoman due to a larger party that would be too uncomfortable for me. Drink list is concise. Music was tad loud. Again fine when 2 people sitting cozy; we had no trouble hearing each other but a larger party might be tough. We will return. read more

So excited to find this place!! Walking into this space, you are immediately met with the most awesome smell! We were told that it was simple incense; but the combination of the decor, lighting, smell and location made it seem like so much more! You really do completely forget that you are in a parking garage. The bar is very unique and the seating throughout this small space was very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the music that was playing. Brian, our bartender, was very knowledgable and did a nice job of finding the perfect drink for each of us. Their prices were comparable to every other hand mixed cocktail bar we've been to. Next time in Austin, we will definitely be back! read more

Drinks. This place serves drinks. They also play really good groove. Music, that is. One of my favorite spots to duck into and get something to get my head fixed up. read more

I hate writing reviews of places I like because I don't want people to discover them and make them even more packed. Been going to Garage for awhile now, and their drinks are always on point. I stick to old fashioneds for the most part. I'm that guy that puts his finger in his drink to get the brandied cherry out of the glass. All of their other drinks are good too. I wasn't drinking for awhile, and my friend jokingly ordered me a Shirley Temple, and I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the best beverages I've ever consumed. Cool concept, good drinks, nice staff, and the crowd is normally chill. read more

Love this bar! A total surprise as its in a parking garage which is actually very convenient. Very dark, sexy, and moody inside, which is just my vibe. Great cocktails! A must while in Austin. read more

It's a Garage. It's dark inside. Unique bar for sure, but you're still drinking in a garage... I had one drink that tasted like cough syrup, maybe that's why it's named penicillin. And another rosemary drink that was delicious. read more

Great drinks and good ambiance! This place is great for just kicking it back and having a good time with friends. Definitely recommend!

Best goddam spin on a Manhattan I've had. Almost couldn't find the place. It really is in a freakin parking structure. Caesar, our bartender was generous with his explanation of the cocktails he made for us. Gave a couple of suggestions of other places to go. Great decor. Easy to get lost in this place. It's like being transported somewhere else. Go. Park it for a while. You won't be disappointed. read more

While having tried a number of high-end cocktail restaurants and bars in Austin, I highly recommend the Garage Bar. The architecture and attention to detail makes this one of Austin's best cocktail bars. Their cocktails, including my favorite--a classic old fashioned is exceptional. Recently, we held a momentous occasion at Garage Bar with guests from LA and other Texas cities. Each guest was impressed with the service, the ambiance and most importantly their delicious cocktails. This is a great stop in downtown Austin, centrally located on 5th and Colorado. read more

This place used to be fairly cool, but they've gone bland techie in the worst way. Datascraping at the door, no cash, super loud Pandora music that you have to shout to be heard over, so mostly what you hear are the highest pitched voices of your neighboring patrons. Vibeless, and all for the privilege of boring $17 cocktails. read more

Place was packed when we showed up. We lucked out and found a seat at the bar. We had a negroni and an old fashioned. Drinks were good. We will be back. read more

It's nothing what I imagined, but in , a good way! Half the fun was finding it - there are two garages at the same corner - not to worry, it's a lot easier to find than you think! The design is so interesting to look at - truly amazing what they've done to the space. Like others mentioned, the bar is small and intimate. Dark low lighting for a relaxing environment. The staff was very nice and the special cocktails were delicious. Tip: Get there early, especially if you have a large group. It's a small place so capacity is reached quickly! read more

The Garage has been an Austin speakeasy staple for some time now, and they have continued to provide consistent, intimate, yet fun experiences. Specifically, we threw a joint birthday party for my friend and wife last year, and the staff truly catered to us. For starters, they didn't throw a fit when we moved a few tables in the back together. We served our own cakes. And, to put the icing on the cake, they went out and got serving ware for us... plates, knives, forks... what staff! Additionally, the limited options for wine and cocktails make choosing a drink simple... sometimes we can be enslaved to our options. To round everything out, I will say that this might be the perfect places to take people from out of town... how awesome would it be to drive down Colorado and say to your friends, "Want to grab a drink? Let's park at the very top of this office building and have a drink at the basement... in a Garage." read more

Pretty cool location, in a garage if you haven't quite figured that out yet, with a nice drink list. They try to elevate cocktails from the usual sixth street experience. As a result, their drinks run ~$12 a piece which is no small order. While I think they deliver in quality, I feel the atmosphere is severely lacking. Multiple people were crowded around the bar, standing and yelling to get drinks, which hindered the experience a little bit. It is a popular destination, I understand, but even on Friday at 9 you should segment out the group's a little. I felt compacted into a sardine can at times, which shouldn't be an issue when I'm dealing with fine cocktails and a nice lady- at least not in my opinion. Overall, I felt garage satisfies the need for an elevated experience around 6th, even if it doesn't fulfill all the roles I would like it to. Drinks are nice. Bartenders are alright. Ambience is ok. It's a decent experience, just don't set your expectations too high-your wallet too low. These drinks can add up fast. read more

If you're looking to walk through a parking garage for a chance to sit at a neon blue bar between Mr. Monopoly and a country music star while sipping down an Indian Paint Brush and getting up close and personal with everyone around you, then do we have the bar for you. Welcome to Garage, after waiting in a modest line, you're escorted inside the 1000 sqft bar nestled in a popular parking garage downtown. The dim lit club features close, small tables along the walls, and a few chairs along the bar, on busy nights it's standing room till the waitress can find an empty spot. Be prepared to stand, and order a delicious and creative drink off their unique menu, the crowd is also fun to watch. Meet a stranger and enjoy the atmosphere, go to Rainy or East if you need space. read more

Great cocktails. Chill vibes only. Menu is very straight forward, and I love the whole concept of this bar being in a garage. There isn't a lot of space once you get inside, but people come and go quickly. We stayed for two drinks each and the drinks were phenomenal. Very crafty. Enjoyed sitting at the bar, watching the bartenders work their magic. read more

Love this place. Intimate, dark, awesome. Unfortunately, I ordered the Chaka Khan and it was like drinking spiked Robitussin. The other drinks my friends had were amazing drinks. Can't be upset about one bad drink. This place is cool. I'll definitely order other drinks next time. read more

I really enjoy the bar scene in Austin city and 6th street is nothing short of weird. This little place which is just off of 6th street showed immense potential at the first glance- a hidden speakeasy entrance, cool grungy bar vibe and of course craft cocktails, so to speak. We showed up on a Friday night and expected a wait. To our delight, we were showed to our tables immediately, which was great. The vibe was alright, I've been to much better places without all the added hype and pretension. We ordered drinks right away and it took around 20 mins for us to finally get them, which seemed rather strange considering the bar wasn't particularly buzzing. But anyway, the drinks were a complete disaster. What's worse is that it wasn't just my drink that wasn't great, three of my other friends ordered different drinks and none of theirs was good either; everything had an overdose of lime. With the four star rating, I expected so much better. Might be time for the mixologists to revisit those drink menus and please, oh please keep the limes as far away as possible! read more

Another awesome "secret bar" in Austin that my friend and I wanted to hit up during our time there for the weekend. Somewhat hard to find -- hidden inside of a parking garage (but all you have to do is look for the "GARAGE" sign) but that adds to the charm. The bartenders here are super nice + love chatting with you (especially if there isn't a huge crowd when you go, which is what happened to us). The place is dark and minimally designed. Great for conversations since it's not too loud, and the drinks are all super interesting and innovative mixtures of flavors, etc. Super pricey (expect to pay a good amount for 1-2 rounds of drinks here) but I guess it's worth it for the overall experience. Ask for drink recommendations from the bartenders -- it'll be worth it. Also don't visit this place if you are interested in meeting other young folk traveling through Austin - it definitely brings in a slightly older crowd, with more of a low-key and intimate vibe. But it's definitely a fun, chill place to grab a drink to start off your night! read more

Found this little place mentioned on Facebook and was excited to try it out while I was visiting Austin. It is such a unique space and idea, I love it! The drinks were a little pricey, but they were incredible!! The Old Fashion was probably the best I have ever had! We were in a group of 8. I think 4 people ordered the old fashion. I got the Up and Up and it was refreshing an delicious. My husband got a tequila drink that was good and had a little spice on the end. It was a fun experience! read more

This is a hidden gem inside a parking garage and hence the name I guess. Drinks - Each of us had like 3 rounds of different drinks and we loved almost all the drinks. Cost - Much cheaper than LA bars for sure :) Ambience - It is nice cozy place and is good for some chit chat. I would have given a 5 star rating had they had some sort of arrangement to handle the heat and humidity in the waiting area. Like a Fan or A/C or something during summer. But on a overall I would definitely recommend the place. read more

Cool place to stop in with a small group and chill but there is one bartender thst doesn't believe in washing her hands while touching everything in sight (including her short hair with a messy bun up top) while grabbing your glasses from the inside. I was quite grossed out by this acrion even though she was smiling while making our old fashions. The other female bartender that wears alot of rings and accessories washed her hands religiously as if she actual was mindful of the phrase cleanliness is next to godliness. I kept asking if she would stay behind the bar and make my drinks but she had to float around the bar and check on other customers. The Roosevelt bar a couple blocks up is way better!!! read more

Cute enough to be a late night date spot without a doubt, if you're looking for somewhere quiet to cuddle up an have some quality time or at least be able to hear and have a conversation with someone you're trying to get to know.. I would recommend it. Bartender is beautiful here also, forgot her name. read more

I have to say this is one of the top 5 cocktail bars in Austin. Cocktail game is actually pretty poor, especially downtown, for unique and experimentals, but Garage is fantastic. Has the classes like Old Fashion and Aperol Spritz, but also version of the house that add some oomph and some flavor or alcohol. We had a few drinks at $12 each. Old fashioned very good but sugary so be mindful. THe paper plane very fruity but alcoholy. The barton Creek was kinda like an old fashioned and Manhattan mix, but more boozy; this one is my recommendation for a whiskey or bourbon lover. Small place but they have seats and about 10 person bar. Might be a line out front if late, but that doesn't mean it's full inside, just to keep the bartenders from getting overwhelmed. By the oz pours are really expensive and beer is small on quantity and mostly macro, but cocktails for $12 isn't too bad for the quality. Dark and intimate inside. Loud but solid music. Definitely would recommend if looking for a night cap a bit north from downtown. read more

This was one of our favorite bars, it's in a cool location and it's very nice on the inside. Our bartender was Jeff, he was so personable and knowledgeable. He told us about the drinks and location and he made excellent drinks! We liked the bar and Jeff so much that we came back the next night for a couple drinks and the small plates. The ribs are delicious and so was the ahi tuna. My favorite drink was the Indian Paint Brush and we both loved the Jr Jr. Definitely a cool bar and would go back for sure! read more
