Just had another great dinner at this pub/restaurant in downtown Valley City. The beer selection is great, the trout special was expertly prepared and might tasty, and my husband enjoyed the celtic chicken. I only wish it had been warmer so we could have dined outside on the patio. read more

We came here for lunch the Saturday before St Patrick's Day, and it was not too crowded. They seated us at a large table, there was 6 of us. It's very pleasantly Irish pub. Lots of dark wood walls and floors. The menu has the normal bar food and Irish fare. Price wise it is kinda high in my opinion. But that's the way it goes with costs going up. But if you're going to charge more your food needs to be good. We got an adult grilled cheese to split and a cup of chili. We were told the chili was not spicy, but it does have a kick to it. Not bad but if you don't like spice don't order it. My partner cannot eat spice and she couldn't eat it. Everyone else got a handful of other menu items. Danny Green burger, wings, mussles. And drinks are Irish focused with Guinness, GL Conway, Harp, ect. They have a few other beers too. One of the guys got a black and tan but it kept mixing too fast. The bartender did a lot of cursing and was very crude, the behavior was terrible, looked up to see him pretending to give head after a waitress walked away,as he talked to friends. Horrible service- I ordered food as part of a large party and didn't receive it until most of our people were done eating some were even leaving. I canceled the food order two different times, then seven minutes later it showed up and I was told I'd be forced to pay for it, I told them to keep it. I even got charged at 20% tip. There were six of us out for dinner. Two of us had been there when it was River Stone, so we were aware of the wonderful warm interior. Service was VERY good. The portion sizes were huge. The smash burgers were so big they couldn't open their mouth enough to bite into it. I ordered the the beef stroganoff, the taste was very delicious. The quantity of beef was very surprising, in a good way) and the noodles were delicious too. Unfortunately all that beef was EXTREMELY tough. I could only eat a piece. Isn't there some way to tenderize the meet before cooking? One other issue: my husband ordered chili. After we got home and he told me there was no meat in it, I went online to check your menu. Unless I overlooked it I could not see where it said meatless/vegetarian. I think that should be noted somewhere on your menu. He was expecting traditional chili. If these two items wouldn't bother someone, then I would say go...if these two things would not be ok with you, then go somewhere else. read more

This is a cute little local pub with a great patio. My wife got the Irish nachos and a side brussel sprouts. We love them both. The patio is great and worth checking out. I had the pork bbq sandwich. It was good, but not great. Being and Irish pub, their Irish food is probably their sweet spot. My son got chicken tenders and fries. It was $10 and he only received 2 chicken tenders the tenders alone were $8. That means each tender cost $4. These were definitely not homemade tenders, but seemed like frozen and fried tenders. Not great and probably the worst value on the menu. Having said all that- strongly suggest the Irish nachos and brussel sprouts. FYI, you park across the street at the pizza place. read more

Visited on a Saturday evening. Wasn't super busy and were able to be seated immediately. Using other reviews we decided to try the cone of fries. I was a big fan of the spicy ketchup out of the 3 sauces. I had the ultimate western burger and this thing was MASSIVE. I had to take off the onion ring so I could actually take a bite. It was an interesting taste- the pulled pork and burger didn't have any distinctive taste but I had a strong taste of chili. I enjoyed it with the kettle chips! My partner rated his Shepards pie 4.5/5. We sat out on the enclosed patio on a nice evening and really enjoyed our time. read more

I was out riding the motorcycle and came across this place. It had a patio which is exactly what today's temps required. It was gorgeous outside. The patio was amazing. Well setup and perfect. I ordered the Shepard's pie. The Shepard's pie was lacking seasoning. It was bad. It just wasn't great. For the price I expected one of two things. More food on the plate. Or better quality food on the plate. I received neither. The entree came with a side salad and it was good. No complaints. I ordered an app as well. The onion rings. They actually were very tasty. The mustard sauce was amazing. All in all the place was very good. Maddie the waitress was good at her job. No complaints there. The decor was very thought out. And the location was good. This is one of those reviews that, for me, is painful to write. The food was very good, and the service was equally as good. The setting and ambience were excellent. This could easily have been a 5 star review from me. However, two things took away from this experience. The first is that my wife ordered an Irish Benedict plate that was supposed to include sauerkraut. Besides not having the sauerkraut, her plate was the last to arrive at the table by nearly 20 minutes. Don't know what happened, but I consider that inexcusable. In fairness, the waitress did compensate us for my wife's meal, but it is still worth mentioning as part of the experience. The other problem has to do with their position as a dog friendly establishment. They even include an image of a dog in their logo for the restaurant, however, there are no dog friendly options on the menu. A grilled burger patty or grilled chicken breast normally cost about $5 or $6 at most other restaurants. There was no such option here. Instead, we each bought a $13 burger plate in order to treat our dogs. A decision, not a necessity, for sure. But, we selected this place based on it's "dog friendly " posture which only means that they seat you outside with your dog like many other places. If you think about it, that is neither dog or patron friendly, just kinda misleading. Management can easily fix both of these things if they choose to. They can tighten up the exchange between wait staff and the kitchen to ensure that problems like the one described above do not happen. The other is simply a decision to include items, they already prepare, on the menu at a reasonable price that promotes the dog friendly position. If you say you're dog friendly, be dog friendly. read more

Went for a late lunch. We ate out on a very nice patio with a water fountain. You can eat inside now if you prefer, but it was nice out. The tables had umbrellas so you don't have to worry about the sun. The staff wore masks also. I went with an appetite and asked for the food they are known for; Shepard's Pie, no cheese. They put cheese on the mashed potatoes so the waitress took it back and fixed it. I always was use to it being in a cake style. This was almost stew style with mashed potatoes on top. I guess an old family recipe. It was pretty good. I had to pick the cheese off of my salad too. Prior to that we did get onion rings with a beer sauce. Fabulous. You cannot leave without dessert since the menu looked great. I couldn't make up my mind so got both the Brown Butter Cake and the Berries Foster. She put the ice cream on the side for the Berries Foster but they didn't with the Brown Butter Cake. No worries. Both were delicious but if I had to choose a favorite, Brown Butter Cake hands down. I drank raspberry ice tea, though it didn't taste like raspberry. But still was ok. Got the cod to take home. A little greasy but not bad. Note that you get charged extra for each extra condiment. When I checked my bill I was double charged for one of the desserts so review your bill. The waitress was very friendly and I didn't have to look for her. They have other events like burger nights, taco nights, and brunch. I wouldn't mind trying. A little on the pricier side. I would have done four star but there were a lot of mistakes. read more

I tried shepherds pie for the first time here and it was pretty good. This is probably rare nowadays but I'm actually used to eating homemade mashed potatoes. So the instant ones in the dish threw me off. We had the Reuben preogies as an appetizer and they were definitely tasty but the inside of mine was a little cold. I tried my boyfriend's Guinness beef stew and was impressed. My parents both ordered the sandwich with the deep friend turkey slices and reported back that it was good. AMAZING Irish restaurant! From the apps, to the meals, to the desserts, this was a great restaurant! What we tried- Reuben Pierogis: a fresh twist on a classic! Bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Loaded Tots: best appetizer we tried. Crispy tots smothered in cheese, juicy pork, and an amazing sauce. Irish Nachos: kettle chips loaded down with succulent, smoky pulled pork and cheese. The only thing that I didn't like was that the chips got soggy very quickly. May have been better with waffle fries as the nachos. Salmon: perfectly cooked and flavorful. Sriracha Burger: the spiciness of the sriracha is cut by the creaminess of the blue cheese and the bacon adds just the right amount of crunch. Ultimate Western Burger: from the smokiness of the pulled pork, to the crunch of the onion straws, to the sharp cheddar, this was a great burger, and what really brought it together was the sweet and tangy Guinness mustard bbq sauce. Pork Belly Carbonara: This was the only disappointing thing on the menu. The pork belly tasted more like pork shoulder. There was no crispness to the pork belly, and it didn't have that signature melt-in-your-mouth fattiness to it. It had a great smoky flavor, but was just too much for the overall meal and didn't really go well with the sauce. Rueben: BEST THING ON THE MENU! The bread was grilled perfectly and stayed crispy the whole time. The corned beef was so juicy and flavorful. And it was just the perfect amount of Swiss, sauerkraut, and thousand island. This is a must! Brownie Sundae: good ice cream and plenty of whipped cream and toppings, however there was not enough brownie. It was in a martini glass which didn't leave much room for it, but it definitely needed more. Berries Foster: this will become a staple every time we visit. The puff pastry is crispy and holds up well under the sweet berry reduction and ice cream. Everything goes perfectly together. Overall: A+ The service was outstanding, the food was way above average, and the price point was 100% reasonable. Definitely recommend giving this place a try! read more

Another round-the-world food outing for me and my co-workers. Wanting something from the United Kingdom (close to Strongsville), we decided to head South and give this spot a try. The restaurant occupies the old Riverstone Taverne (they've moved quite a while ago, I know) and now has a cozy pub-style vibe. I was looking for a "comfort food" item to dine on, so I selected their version of a shepherd's pie. The meal came with a small side salad, and I chose a unique dressing to accompany it. The small house salad was filled with a nicer lettuce selection (no iceberg!) and topped with a tangy and creamy white French dressing. It was very unique and paired well with the veggies in the salad. The shepherd's pie itself was hearty and comforting with buttery mashed potatoes and a red wine (brown) gravy covering the ground beef and veggies. It was savory and there was plenty of potatoes to ensure you got some in every bite of the pie. The other guys all ordered sandwiches and a few ordered soup as well.
