We checked this place out recently and it quickly jumped to the top of our sushi list in town. First thing that stood out was the freshness of the fish. You can absolutely taste the quality. The menu has a ton of options too, from classic rolls to more creative choices, so it's easy to find something you're in the mood for. I ordered the Snow Mountain Roll and it was amazing. Definitely one I'd get again. We also tried the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck rolls and both were super fresh and really well done. The jalapeño poppers were seriously yummy too and made a great appetizer. Service was fast, friendly, and really attentive without being over the top. The staff made the whole experience smooth from start to finish. The vibe inside was great too. Cool, relaxed atmosphere that makes it a fun spot whether you're going for a a casual dinner or meeting friends. Honestly the only regret is that I didn't take pictures before we started eating because everything looked as good as it tasted. Overall, great food, great service, great vibe. Safe to say we found a new go to sushi spot and we'll definitely be back. read more

Whoaaaa, great nigiri sushi. Probably the best I have ever had at an ayce sushi restaurant! The pieces were small and perfect fish to rice ratio. I ordered quite a bit and because the size was so good I could eat more and I appreciated it. The only other item I ordered was the chicken karrage. It was made to order so it was still crispy and hot! It was only two pieces so left room to order more which is nice! The menu here is almost all included on the ayce and offers a lot of choices. They have a sushi bar so you can sit there as well as the tables. When we arrived we were the only ones there at lunch time so the services was super quick. As the restaurant started to get busy the single server was not as attentive and I felt rushed by him since I was the only one in our party of 4 that ordered the ayce. I could have eaten more for sure, but felt cut off, maybe because the others at my table were done eating... Must mention how clean this restaurant was as well! My family & I tried this place out & were pleasantly surprised. The menu had some rolls we hadn't tried along with our regulars. Everything was very tasty & fresh. The rolls were the perfect size for us. Our daughters ordered the salmon platter & the tempura shrimp platter. Both of those were good also. The salmon platter was exceptional! Look--when it comes to sushi, I'm loyal. I know what I like, I have my spot, and I don't sway. But word on the street was that this new sushi in Carson was worth checking out. So, of course, curiosity won--and wow, am I glad it did! This place is legit. In a region packed with sushi heavyweights, this spot holds its own--and dare I say, might've knocked a few giants off their thrones. First off, the rolls are slightly smaller with less rice than most places--which might sound like a negative, but it's actually genius. You don't get stuffed too fast, which means you can sample MORE. More rolls = more joy = winning at life. The ambiance? Fun, energetic, but not overwhelming. The service? Michelin star-level plate ninjas. Empty plate? Gone in 60 seconds. Water low? Already refilled before you noticed. And the rolls? They came out fast. Like, "did they read our minds?" fast. Every single one we ordered was spot-on, beautifully made, and landed on our table in under five minutes. I don't know what kind of sushi magic this is--but I am here for it. I am not too sure how this place is getting the high stars it has... the food was not very good. Their dipping sauces were terrible, the (pictured) rainbow roll had the most skimpy of fish portions imaginable. I do have good things to report though...! The server was quick and responsive but there was only me and one other table occupied by one other person. The restaurant was clean, but perhaps because not too many customers...? Anyway, I very rarely do this, but I asked for my check early and after paying, left the entire meal besides the couple of bites I had taken behind. Not good. I was curious of this new place, and so I tried it out. Do not recommend! Not good sushi at all, rice is too hard, the portion is small and stingy on the fish. See photo, top one is caterpillar roll, bottom is rainbow roll, another one is a spider roll. Rainbow roll they don't want to give you sashimi, so they put super thin slices that barely covers the top, the tobiko is super mini that even the supermarket ones carry bigger ones. Which I always buy regular sized tobiko from 168 Asian Market in Reno. Spider roll, this is the most mini spider roll I have ever seen. These rolls quality is like the ones from the supermarket refrigerated made ready sushi. Save your time no need to try this place. Carson City's newest Sushi place has opened. It's been open for about a week now. It's located right near the In N Out at Topsy Lane. It's all bright and clean inside with tables and sushi bar seating. I was here for the AYCE lunch for $27.95 per person. That includes all appetizers and sushi and dessert. We had to request plates and the setups with the wasabi and ginger. I think the server is still learning what needs to be done. The appetizers are ordered from the server and the rest of the food is ordered using the check off sheet with all the options listed. If you sit at the bar, I think you can just skip the list and order directly from the chef like most places. The miso soup was missing the concentrated flavor of richness that it should have, I think just using more of the miso paste would help. The Gyoza came in three's and were deep fried. Pretty decent. The mussels I assume would have been the standard baked with cheese topping in the shell, but were instead mussels in a broth served in a spoon. I did like the presentation, but the temp of the broth was room temp and I would think it would have been better served hotter. We started our sushi with an assortment of nigiri. The pieces were cut on the smaller side, not way small, but a bit smaller than what you might see most places. I will say they did well on the rice prep, not over sweet and not too sticky so as to be mushy. The quality of the fish itself was not the best I've had in the area, but not the worst at all. The salmon was tender but some of the others were a little more firm than usual, like the mackerel. The albacore wasn't as melty in the mouth as some I've had, but certainly not the worst. The rolls were cut smaller as well in length and diameter. I get that with smaller rolls you won't get filled up and they were made without going overboard on the rice. But the pieces were sliced real thin as well, so with each piece you don't get enough in your mouth to get the proper feeling of texture and flavor of the piece. I took two pieces in my mouth and that was better but just a little too much food. The solution would be to cut the roll with thicker pieces, maybe 1 1/2 times the present thickness. I'd actually like to see the rolls rolled a slightly large diameter as well. There were some creative rolls that I've not seen anywhere else, so that's was a pleasant surprise. Dessert was included, ice cream mochi or a tempura banana, but I'm not a fan of bananas so I had ice cream. Over all a 4 star experience, there can be some improvements as mentioned. One of the weaker points was the server experience level, she just needs to learn a lot more, like what all the fish are and the rolls and how they compare to just being a little more efficient in her movements, like if you bring a clean plate, take away the dirty pile at the same time , so you don't have to make a separate trip to the table to get the dirty plates. Just easy stuff, but hopefully with experience service will improve. The sushi itself was quality and good, but I'll give it time to be at the top of the sushi game. One other thing, the MUSIC in the place need to be turned down from this beat heavy "music" to something more conducive to a serene sushi experience, cause I don't wanna be eating sushi in a freakin nightclub! This is a great addition to Carson City. The restaurant has an all you can eat option for both lunch and dinner. I think the dinner option is about $35. I did not get the all you can eat option because I was not very hungry. I will note that I got the a la carte calamari and it only came with 2 pieces of calamari, the size of 2 onion rings. So I highly recommend you ask about portions when ordering appetizers. The sushi was pretty good and tasted fresh. I did think that service was slow and I didn't think the place was very busy. You have to check out this CC sushi spot. It's in the same shopping center as In-n -Out. Excellent service and the fish was so good. They had fish options most places around here don't offer, for example, fresh ocean trout, red snapper, and squid. As someone else already said in the review, they don't use more rice than fish on the nigiri. They also offer a good premium cold sake. You've got to try this place. read more

My wife and I wanted a light lunch. We picked several small items and just water to drink. The water was delivered almost immediately, the seaweed salad was tasty and pretty quick as well. Our waiter was polite, quick and cordial. Soon enough we had our 12 piece sashimi. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh- especially considering the distance from the coast. The shrimp tempura came and it was attractive, generous and included a few pieces of vegetable tempura as well. Many restaurants are hit and miss. One or two items are good and one or two miss the mark. Not here- Ganbaru executed each item perfectly, service was quick, presentations were pleasing, wasabi and ginger were prompt and generous, sea weed salad was fresh and tempura was hot. It was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Ambience was clean, tasteful and upbeat. There was a colorful sushi themed mural behind the counter and colorful floral arrangement on the opposite wall. I did not try the sake but they offered an interesting selection. I would definitely go there again. If you like sushi and or a quick healthy bite this might be your place. They offer "all you can eat" if you are young and hungry.
