Don wons (nachos) ~ TO DIE FOR!!
    Lynda B.

Unique menu options with a flair for originality. This was exactly what we were looking for after having the same or similar rolls everywhere we go. Dinner service is short and seating is limited so be prepared to get on a waitlist but the food and service is worth it!! With Shishen Sushi outside the Italian restaurant you can't miss it, staff greets you and the hostess is to the left of entrance of that restaurant and will be sure to let you know about how long next available seating is for waitlist. Once our seats were ready, we were warmly greeted with our sushi setup, handed. Wasabi, ginger, and water. Our drink order was taken and asked for our appetizer order, we chose Don won, cucumber salad and miso soup to start along with spicy upside-down shrimp...alll were delicious ~ the star was the Don won nachos...YOU MUST TRY THESE!! Our main sushi rolls were delicious & flavorful, we had the Red Dragon, Avalanche and Hula each had their own unique flavors and the sushi chef WOW'D us each time thanks Rhett for a delicious meal and a great conversation!!

Another great night of all-you-can-eat. Selections have been reduced from previous years, but still enjoyed the rolls and appetizers. The Don-won nachos were delicious as well as the spicy yellowtail hand roll. Cody was great. Thanks guys!

The sushi here is pretty good. They have a great special of bogo. It's a perfect place to get something while waiting for your movie or an after treat.

John and DJ offer unique creations. Johns secret garden has most lemon Ive ever experienced on sushi. Very light! Delightful! The Og Bri with out lemon. All excellent! Enjoy!

    Flying fish roe...salty little pops....Delicious.

Great place for good fast sushi. It is not a restaurant, just a 14 seat sushi counter. The service is prompt, servers are friendly. They offer an all you can eat menu, stay away from that! Order off their Al la cart menu, it is so much better. The coconut lemongrass sake is worth trying.

    Don Won's

I personally love the ocean and hubby goes for LuLu every time. DJ, our host always serves up the best. Ask for the Don Won's. Sushi nachos made with wontons. Levi is always on top of the drinks and outside dining area. When you come here, get in early as the few seats they have fill up fast. Then you wait for round 2.

Absolutely phenomenal sushi come try it it's the best

Loved our sushi chef, funny engaging and accurate. I've been to tomo down the street and this place has the best hands down. Tomo always gets my orders wrong. Which is surprising being in a casino, but the fish was super fresh. This is coming from someone who can not stand the smell of salmon cooking, no matter how fresh. Also, our chef was very kind and let me modify a couple rolls, which was super nice and he remembered all the modifications to a que! Which never happens and I normally just pick off things once I get the roll. Always feels like a waste. Also, nice touches to the presentation as well as the flavor profiles. Rolls to highlight were the Godzilla, normally I can't do cooked yellow tail or raw, but my friend order this roll and the fish must have been super fresh cause I love it. Also the fandango roll was fabulous! Loved the lotus chips and the rice paper. Another one to note was the avalanche, the presentation looked like a little mountain with crab lava. The only thing I was a little meh about was there wasn't very many scallop options, and the tempura shrimp wasn't all the hot, which again is a kitchen issue, not really the sushi places.

On a previous visit, I was seated in the back of the restaurant, which I was fine with at first, until I realized that's also where staff eat. One employee sat down near me on his break and was loudly eating with his mouth open, shoveling food in with his chopsticks right in my line of sight. It was uncomfortable and honestly pretty gross, to the point that I asked to move tables. On my most recent visit, the service was again disappointing. After my drink was dropped off, my server basically disappeared -- no check‑ins, no options offered, and it took a long time to get anyone's attention for simple things like refills or the check, even though it wasn't that busy. The sushi itself is fine and the prices are reasonable, but between being seated next to an employee loudly eating his break meal and the consistently inattentive service, it's hard to relax and feel like a valued customer. With other sushi options in the area, I'd rather go somewhere that feels a bit more professional and attentive.

The Cajun salmon surprised me with the flavor. I wish I could have ate more but I was so full at the end. Donald duck was the normal you'd expect at any sushi place. The Jalapeños on the Geisha were tempura style and so good. The Okie dokie was a little off. Some bites were over powered with cream while other bites did not have any cream cheese. I use the juice from the mussels to pour over my rolls and enhanced the flavors even more. Coming back here again

This is bespoke Japanese with a modern twist and it absolutely delivers on that promise. We are talking caviar, thoughtfully composed dishes, and the kind of attention to detail you'd expect from a serious city restaurant. The fact that it exists in Tahoe at all is kind of wild and I am so here for it. The space is incredibly intimate, which honestly adds to the whole experience because everything feels very intentional and personal. That said, you absolutely need to snag a reservation early because this place is tiny and I imagine it fills up fast and for good reason. Yes, the per person cost can get up there, but for what you're getting in terms of experience and execution, it genuinely feels worth it. I also thought it was really cool that they source fish from Japan every couple of days. That definitely shows the level of quality they're going for. I'll definitely be back, and next time I want to try the full course. The restaurant itself is beautiful overall. Only small thing for me was that it got a little smoky at times, and the wine tasted slightly old, although my server confirmed the bottle had been opened recently. It honestly may have just been the wine I chose. Still a great experience overall.

We always go for the shared plates, it's more expensive but worth it. Some things to consider before you visit: -No reservations, first come first serve. Most nights it's a 30-45 minute wait if you don't get there right when they open. We always put our name down and walk to Chapel for a cocktail while we wait. - Like many of the reviews state, it does get pretty loud. It is part of the experience. The later the night gets, the louder the music and the dimmer the lights. Don't be the annoying person that asks them to adjust either of those things. If that's not your vibe, you should dine elsewhere. - Seating is limited, not the place to have people just trickle in/ come and go. If you are dining here, everyone should show up on time. - They do have gluten free mods, but they are not available on the weekends. - I would not recommend for vegans We have tried basically the entire menu. Our favorites are the duck fried rice, Caesar, mushroom croquettes, soba noodles, ten layers of pork, pork gyoza, shrimp fritter, Tokyo fried chicken, chicken meatballs, rice tots, and mushroom jar. Everything we've tried is outstanding, even the beef tongue! Drinks are all really good, only note I have is that the wine pours are pretty small. If you haven't been here, definitely add it to your list. Easily top 5 restaurants in all of Reno!

More Umami Needed!…read more SHORT Ver: Most selections lack flavor to true authentic originals. Service was friendly and adequate, hence my giving 2 I am Asian who has lived over 50 years in Hawaii and have eaten authentic Asian cuisine from around the Pacific and Asia so I'm qualified to make this statement! LONG Version: In heavily populated Asian communities,if we see a particular race eating at that races' restaurant, it's generally a signal that the food there is gonna be good! Makes sense, right? While visiting Tahoe today my family had a craving for sushi and based on the rating for Harumi Sushi (as of 6/26' is is 3.9 Stars) we decided to go for dinner. Walking in, we were met with friendly staff and Japanese chefs behind the sushi counter! (Good sign!) their menu is mostly Japanese with some Korean dishes. I was also pleasantly surprised that there were a lot of Asian families also seated but I wasn't sure if that was a good gauge as I suspected that these families were all probably like ours-visiting from outside of the area. I crossed my fingers. We ordered various sushi rolls, a Tonkotsu Ramen, Tempura Udon, Pork Tonkatsu, and a Dotsolbop. Kitchen help must've been short staffed because each dish came out singly with minutes in between the next single dish and by the time the last dish came out, the first few people had already been long finished. First: Tonkotsu Ramen soup broth was completely tasteless. I have packaged Tonkotsu Ramen from my Asian store in Vegas that has much more flavor and body that the one I had. The noodles were simply noodles, the egg was not ajitama. It was simply a half boiled egg. The rest of the dish was not appealing nor tasty at all. Even the charsiu tasted old if not just pan fried for presentation! I could not finish it. The Tempura with the udon was adequate for an AYCE Japanese style buffet so, 'mid' as my kids would say. The udon, I was told wasn't bad, I guess I should've order the Shoyu Ramen instead. The Tonkatsu also fared better in taste rating than my ramen. The Dot Sol Bop came after everyone was finished eating. It had chopped lettuce on it among a couple other non traditional looking veggies. There was very little meat in it. After adding the kochujang sauce and tasting, it was the strangest version of this dish I have ever tasted. The vinegar flavor coming from each bite was so overwhelming. We didn't know if it came from the rice mixture or from the kochujang sauce. Not even half of this dish was eaten. And this was with half the group sampling it. No one wanted to finish this dish. The sushi rolls looked like they were a little on the old side however all said the sushi was pretty good. Not amazing, but adequate. Mid range quality ingredients. My conclusion is that the quality of the ingredients is in need of some improvements. The sushi chefs are getting the job done with what they have. The cooked dishes, however, need to be reexamined If you truly know what Asian cuisine is because you've grown up with it and/or have experienced it, you will walk away disappointed especially if you order a non-sushi entree. The staff were nice though!
