These guys put whole consoles in the dumpster! I got my son a working Nintendo switch!

Came for the Switch 2 release and... wow. What a mess. Total disorganization from the start. There was absolutely no point in showing up early to line up, because earlier in the day they handed out numbers--and that determined your spot in line. So if you couldn't come at 3 PM (because, you know, people WORK), you were already out of luck. Then there was zero clarity on where to stand. Two separate lines: one for bundles, one for non-bundles. Total chaos, people crammed and bunched. Not an actual line. You'd think they would've at least started with the folks who had purchased bundles! Nope! We came back in April to pre-order and paid full price on the spot. You'd think that would mean something--but nope. At pre-order you only had to place a deposit if you wanted and pay the rest at pick up. No priority, no order based on pre-order numbers, which they should've done. Would've been much cleaner. People who walked in at 3 PM and just bought outright (no pre-order) got priority in line at 9pm, just because they got a number at 3pm. So come 9 PM, people walked up and went to the front. Meanwhile, we were still waiting. Honestly, this whole number system was a disaster. Never seen a launch handled so poorly. Their reasoning? The Switch units were stacked and labeled with numbers starting at 100 on top, so they handed out the higher numbers first to make distribution easier--just grab from the top of the stack. So those people, who came earlier in the day at 3, ended up at the front of the line. Meanwhile, we were number 17 out of 100... and still stuck in the back, even though we pre-ordered back in April. Again, they should've prioritized folks by their PRE-ORDER NUMBER. Make it make sense. Oh--and they didn't even limit the number of controllers per person. People walked out with armfuls, so by the time we got our "useless" number, they were already sold out. Whatever happened to the traditional first come, first served? It worked for a reason. Still standing in line as I type this. Just... incredibly disappointing. read more

Staff is always super helpful at GameStop. I was searching for a new headset and tried probably 5 different options. Purchased the Astros and after a couple days I wasn't the happiest with them. The staff returned them and let me try out a different option before purchase. The only bummer is that Amazon is a bit cheaper. I'm not sure if they price match. read more

The customer service at this location is awesome! We recently purchased a card that had a code on the receipt to redeem on the Nintendo switch which we didn't have on us when we purchased it so we had to do it at home. we ended up having issues and when we called, they not only did their best to assist over the phone walking us through what to try to fix the issue but also offered to bring the device in and they would assist in person. We ended up going back to the store for more help and they assisted until they ensured we had the game we paid for. It took a bit of time and patience but it was appreciated greatly. I unfortunately didn't get think to get their names but it was a woman and man... hopefully I can go back to the location soon and confirm to update this review so they get the praise they deserve! I bring my son in to GameStop once a month to get PlayStation cards and look around. Khairi is there often and is awesome. He's super knowledgeable about everything, always nice, and helpful. I know anytime we have a question about games, consoles, etc, he's going to know the latest. We came last weekend on Saturday to get the long awaited PS5. He walked us through the differences on the 2 PS5 options, and we grabbed a new PS5 for my son and were on our way. I like that GameStop is still around even with everything mostly being online now. I was there to purchase a gift. I don't know about video games, the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Was trading in games and consoles for my sons and was told to return with a controller for the Xbox 360 and they would give $8. Came back with the controller and was told that the system had the red ring so they would have to send it off to be fixed (Less than a 10 minute fix online). He said the best he could do was give me $1. I showed him the receipt of my last visit where I traded in over 30 games/stuff and gave them another 20+ games that he said they couldn't sell for more than $1 so I told him he could keep them. Keep in mind that these were 2 different people I was dealing with (1st guy was tall and this guy was short). At the end of the day, my goal was to get my kids as much of a store credit that they could get for their old games and they would ultimately be using that money to buy stuff from GameStop anyways. To know that GameStop would be turning around and selling that used system for $70 and he was trying to give me $1 is ridiculous. The $8 wasn't going to make much of a difference to me but was something my sons were looking forward to use towards a new game. The ignorance and lack of common sense by the store employee to try and convince me that it's only worth $1, as it would be so difficult to fix the red ring, was so asinine that it inspired me. Instead of getting $1, I decided to take that $1 system and throw it in the trash rather than giving GameStop the opportunity to make $69 on that transaction. This particular review is in regard to a purchase I made through the app on 12/9/2020. On that day, before 5 pm, I had ordered mario kart 8, mario party, and 2 pro controllers for the switch. I planned for these to be delivered to me so that I didn't have anyone in my family see what I got them for christmas. In the app, I chose the "deliver today" option which briefly stated that I had about 35 or so minutes to placd my order. I think that this is swell idea rather than going to the store. I put my order in and I get a confirmation via email and text message. The order was being delivered by doordash and the email said it would be delivered before 8 pm that day. I think that's cool until hours later when it is about 7:30 pm and I still don't have my packave. So I call the store and an employee answers. I explained the situation to the employee and they told me they had no idea/ they can't track the order. This was strange to me, why give your customers the ability to place orders for same day delivery if you can't track them at all? Seems counter-intuitive. The order doesn't come until tomorrow morning at 11 am when I'm still asleep. My whole family saw what I had gotten so now it will be no surprise to them since the order wasn't bagged - itwas just put together with a rubber band. So not only did I bot get my same delivery order the same day, but now the whole element of surprise is ruined for my family. The ordering experience on the aoo is simple and easy as always. Poor customer service 7/28/2022! He wasn't helpful and not welcoming to the customers. He was Very loud and mad

This has been by far one of the worst customer service experiences I've encountered. Nintendo.com stated that this location had a item I was interested in purchasing for my little one as a birthday gift. Upon arrival I had to speak to the guy through the door he didn't even have the courtesy to open the door to see what I needed. I told him I wanted the Nintendo switch Lite and he said they didn't have it. I told him that the website should be updated to show zero inventory, his response was, I don't do that and eventually it would be updated". His response was very snotty and unhelpful. I asked for the number to corporate at that point and was told, "I don't know it". I asked his name and was told his name was "Steve Madden". Totally unprofessional and now acting like a five year old he continued with the lies and his coworker also came to the door to say he didn't know his name because he was from another store. He threatened to call the police, which I begged him to do, he then stated he is the MANAGER! Tired of trying to talk with someone with the competence level of (0) I left vowing never to return. Both employees should be fired for lying, harassing and threatening to call the police for asking for corporates telephone number. read more

Needed a couple of games for my son for his birthday. Tracy GameStop was the only one in my area that had both. Was unsure how to about buying them during the virus crisis, so I called and Joey happily talked me through it. He called me back less than an hour later to confirm that I could pick them up- curbside pick up. I did, safely, and with no hassles. Worst Gamestop I've ever been to. I would not be surprised if this was one of the 200 stores that ends up getting closed down. Went in this Saturday morning (10/5/19) around 11AM to see what was left available after the whole Star Wars Force Friday. Last customer was leaving when we entered. I asked the male employee what Star Wars exclusives he has left and he replied "I don't know anything about that." In my head I was thinking; you should since its one of your exclusives. I asked to see an item behind the counter that I was interested in purchasing. Took a look at it, wasn't interested. I looked at him and showed him that I put the item back on the front counter. My friend was with me and he saw an item on a top rack. He asked the employee if he could see it. The employee went to the back, grabbed a ladder, climbed up and asked my friend; "are you going to buy it?" Now that to me sounded like him saying he didn't want to take the item down and then put it back up if my friend decided not to buy it. With him saying that, my friend practically told him no. I talked to him afterwards and he said he would've bought the item if he wasn't so rude about it. We looked around a bit more and the employee asked if I was going to buy the figure I put back on the counter and I just told him no. During the whole time we were there after that, there was just this aura coming from him that felt like he just wanted us out. We had a couple items we were going to buy too, but decided that this Gamestop location was not going to have any of our business. There was still no one else in the store since we got there. When we left, there was no "have a nice day." Now, I don't usually care for that, but when every other Gamestop I've been to says that when I leave, I kinda expected it. I bought a astro c40 controller back in march 2019 cost like $199. I was offered to buy the warranty replacement for $50 so purchased. The associate told me i can bring it back if anything wrong with it no ask question since i bought the replacement.As of today 11/2019 trying to get replacement i got the box and everything. All of the sudden they cannot replace it cause of the box and the controller not matching the the serial number. When i got the controller everthing sealed. I had called this store a couple of months ago to pre-order the upcoming SNES Classic. They didn't have it yet so they took my phone number down to let me know when the pre-order would be available. When the day arrived, I found out that pre-orders were happening from a news article but I didn't get a call. When I called them, they said the pre-orders were gone and simply said "sorry for not calling you." I've pre-ordered games/consoles from Gamestop in the past with this very same call-back system (giving them my phone number so they can call me before the pre-order happens) and it never failed. Unfortunately, they failed me this time. I haven't been to the store yet since I moved to the area last year so I can't review their service; but I won't be going in and giving them my business. With hot items like the SNES Classic, where the stock is very low, most of the time the guys working at the store will grab pre-orders for themselves and their friends before they're made official. This, along with scalpers using bots, makes it impossible for normal consumers to buy and enjoy these items. read more

I had reserved the Modern Warfare Hard Edition back in September. The day finally came when it was released. Hell to the NO was I going to wait in line at 6PM Monday eve'n waiting for it to release at midnight Monday. I maybe crazy spending $100 on a game with all the additions but I ain't stupid! I went there yesterday and the line was outside the door...OMG! I got there at 6:30PM thinking CRAP, I am going to be here forever! To my surprise the line moved rather quickly. I got up to the counter, paid my dues and skipped out of the store by 6:50PM. Now that was quick and efficient! All I have to do now is download my maps and start kicking you boys asses!!! This store is lacking in customer service, its very unorganized and dirty. Parking is risky and if there are more than 4 customers in the store it's way too crowded. I realize they have a lot of inventory but they really need to utilize their space and get clerks who are friendly and looking to help you. I have purchased more games from this location than I can even remember, today I walked in to purchase a new game and the line was longer than usual, no big deal EXCEPT they had all three registers open all taking in HUGE trades. Was in line for close to 30 minutes just to have the next two people in front of me with trades as well total wait time was 45 minutes with just two ahead of me. GameStop there is a solution to making customers wait so long, dedicate one register for sales only and the other for trades. Forget the power up points it is NOT worth the wait. Next time I'm going to Best Buy! Three days later, after posting to their Twitter account, FB page...CRICKETS! Expect elitists and the "new crew" telling you what you should buy instead of what you wanted. Expect to have your pre orders sold to somebody else and never get what you wanted or paid for. Expect to be disappointed, infuriated and bitter afterwards. Love this game stop. Me and my wife just moved to Tracy and this store is just down the street. We traded in some games amd wanted to buy some new ones. Salina helped us and did a good job. She didnt judge us because we were buying Wii U games unlike some other gamestop even though we also have an Xbox one. She helped us pre order mario kart 8 and told us all about the cool stuff you get with the game. And then we also ended up pre ordering COD and got a poster. Thanks for all your help. Basically if you are a parent, you will not enjoy buying your child a game. If you are a young adult buying your own game, then you will love it. I will always buy all my gaming related products at this specific GameStop location! All the workers there are really cool and friendly (That is definitely a major key to just being awesome aha ) My favorite employee's there are Sierra, Khairi, Salina, and Ashlie. They like to talk to me about games and dank memes whenever they're working during the day's I come by haha . They always make my day 10 times better just by talking to me and asking how I am because not a lot of people ask me that. It helps me stay in a happy mood instead of me being in my depressing state that I'm usually in . The customer service here is pretty infuriating. Just 1 guy in particular really. I recently joined their power-up rewards program to take advantage of a 50% extra on trade-ins. I came in to trade a brand new iPhone 5, but was met with 21 questions about how and why I got the phone and was trading it in. I felt like a criminal being interrogated by the police under a hot lamp. He was really offensive and honestly that'll be the last time I pre-order and/or trade here. The clerk went so far as to tell me that I could not trade it in at their location as long as he was working there. It wasn't until I provided a receipt that this douche let me trade it in (it was actually his really nice coworker that allowed the trade-in). read more

Probably had one of the worst encounters I've had with any store in a long time. Usually if i get frustrated, I'll bite my tongue and move on but Saturday was not one of those times. The gentleman at the counter, Dustin, was unbelievably rude. We had stood at the counter for a good maybe 5-10 minutes while he was talking to another person on the phone about how big each other's game sets or consoles we're at home (no joke). I tried to get his attention and he was flat out ignoring us, even as I tried to say "excuse me" to see if we can get helped by another associate, especially since we were wracking up quite a few people behind us. He was still talking about his console WHILE watching the tv that was behind the counter too. That pissed me off as well as the people behind us. He finally took a quick break from his conversation to ask us "have you been helped yet", while still on the phone with his buddy. He then proceeded to (I think) help us find the balance from our card that's balance wasn't showing up. He then took himself and his phone call to the back and brought out another associate (maybe manager) to help alleviate the line. While Dustin was still on the phone, the other nice associate had managed to clear the line AND THEN asked if we were being helped to which we answered "I have no idea". Dustin explained what he was doing to the other guy but never communicated to us about what he was doing so we were just standing there like "okay this guy just took our card, while still on the phone with his friend, and is just chilling with it at the other end of the counter." All around, this was a horrible experience at this location. read more
