Great place. Made it a pain to return stuff if it was bought there on a member plans you shouldn't need the receipt!

With prices as high as theirs is for used equipment, I'll save the gas money, and just buy new. So much for trying to recycle and reduce waste. Staff is cold, and not paid enough to give fucks. Maybe take all that money you're making off of bunk used equipment, and pay your staff a few bucks more.. or your repair techs.

They have them. They have a good stock and have never been out of anything when I've been in. (Granted, I am SO not one of those "wait outside the door the night before a big name game is released" type of guys.) Want to sell video games? They'll take them. Sure you don't get much FOR them, but that's typical. The staff is nerdy, but not aggressively so. In fact, non-aggressive is a good way to explain them altogether. They mention and inform me of all the special deals, but they don't harass me about them like other stores have. They don't try and get me to pre-order every single thing that's coming out. They keep me in the loop as to what is coming up but there are no hard sells. I appreciate that. Additionally, they are always handy with their opinions of which games are worth it and which aren't. So what's negative? Parking. I usually NEVER ding a review on parking, as I hate how car dependent we are here in KC. But it's just bad news here. Right off Westport Rd and Southwest Trafficway and sharing a strip with two incredibly popular restaurants, you can forget about street parking anywhere nearby and the tiny lot is always full. I generally park at Blockbuster across the street. Hopefully they never notice and tow me away. But regardless, the parking woes are not enough to dissuade me from choosing this Game Stop when I want to get my nerd on.

However of course first place I thought of was Gamers HQ:) had my Pc back in couple days good as new. All the employees are super friendly and super knowledgeable about whatever device you bring in! so, I do defiantly recommend this shop for anyone that comes across it!

I…read moredon't spend my hours glued in front of a big screen television playing all of the latest games. What I am is an old school video game lover. Once upon a time I was the owner of a PlayStation one and over the years It got misplaced. I've been telling myself for a while to try to find a way to get another one but with new games and consoles being introduced all the time, I feared that I would never be able to find an original classic. When I googled play station one in search of trying to find places that sold them I was led to this place. I looked at the reviews and they seem to be a spot that a lot of people approved so I decided I'd give them a call. When I called them and told them that I was looking for an original PlayStation one, I was immediately surprised that they had it. Not only did they have it, the price that they were selling it for was extremely affordable especially in these days and times. But before I could commit to buying it I had one more question for them. The number one game that I love to play on the PlayStation one was Tekken 3, and when I asked them if they had that, they stated that they did. At that point I was sold and I came in the next day and purchased my PlayStation one and my game Tekken three. After receiving the game. I immediately came home and hooked it up and I noticed a problem right away when it took me five attempts to get the game to come on before it would. When I seen that it came on I was willing to forgive the five tries, until I turned off the game and went about my business and came back hours later to play again only to find that the Console would not come on at all. I decided that I was going to take the console back and demand either a replacement or a refund. When I arrived they were so friendly and helpful. They immediately discovered that the problem was the power cord to the game. They quickly issued me a new power cord and assured me that if there were any more problems they would be more than happy to fix it at no extra charge. I brought the cord home hooked it up and I have been in tekken land ever since. Now that I've talked about my experience I will talk about the layout of the store. They do have a lot of retro games. They do have Nintendo, the wii and all of the other games, but what I saw that I haven't ever seen before was they have a gaming room. Set up with gaming chairs, different sizes of TVs and they said they virtually have any game that you were interested in playing. You can pay a price to play for an hour, or half a day or all day. You can pay for snacks while you play games. Unfortunately they won't let you in the room unless you're going to play games in there but I did get a sneak peek as a kid came out to switch out games. This has become a popular hang out in the Topeka area and now I know why. I literally saw parents bringing their kids to this place and coming back to pick them up later. Maybe one day just out of curiosity I may go and play a game for an hour just to see what it's like. They also state that you can throw gaming parties. So if you are into classic games like me or you are a bona fide gamer this is definitely a place you want to check out

When we first got there, I thought 'Wow, there really aren't many games here'...but then we wound our way around through the back and came upon WAY more games situated in a few different connecting rooms. So yes, the place is laid out a little strangely - maybe more signage could help with this - but it's actually really cool once you figure out where you're supposed to go. Solid State has a huge selection of pinball machines - and there's something for everyone. Old, new, weird, normal. It's pretty awesome. And you can just pay one price and play anything you want! You can also set up an online account to track your score against other players - although not all machines supported this feature. It would be cool if they did, but I get that the ancient games don't really have the option. Another pretty great thing was that probably 99% of the games were operational. I think this place started out as a pinball repair shop, so they know how to get and keep them running, which is awesome. The bartender/owner was really nice and helped a few of us to some tasty drinks. Overall I highly recommend this place for hours of pinball fun!

Every time I go into the shop, even if I think I know exactly what I want, every staff member is so knowledgeable and helpful that I always leave with more ideas on my TBR! The little shop is located in the tiny shopping center off Brush Creek Parkway, which means it can be hard to find parking if the center is petty busy--but it's worth it! They have great sections for adult reads, but they also have great sections for kids and teens--you'll find what you're looking for even if you're not sure what that is. Over the holidays, I even asked for kids and teens recommendations from the staff which they were happy to give! As noted earlier, their shop isn't huge, but full of possibilities. And if at the end of your visit, you really still want that book they don't have in stock, they'll order it for you for pick up or shipping--it's a simple process and they're more than happy to help people find their perfect next read. They may not be a book superstore, but they create value in their suggestions, recommendations, and their tiny book reviews and recs on the shelves (even in the teens and kids sections, written by kids and teens!). So glad to have found this place early on in my time in KC, and so happy that they're still doing their thing in their amazing bookshop!
