My experience was a little different, but I had great customer service nonetheless from a guy named Tom. Tom was really friendly and commented on my Superman shirt when I entered the store. Super personable, had a nice geeky chat about Absolute Superman. My girlfriend was looking for a really specific Superman badge holder item and Tom went out of his way to look for it and point us to where it might be in the store. The kid showed me a helmet on Etsy for $300. I didn't buy it because they also charged $133 shipping & unknown tariff fees. Instead, I went to Gamestop (at the hip) and purchased the helmet for $303.99 plus tax. The box was big, (22"x16"x15") & heavy, had a mix of English & Japanese writing on it. The item is a BN HEAD COLLECTION MS-06F Zake ll. I got home and Googled the Japanese words but couldn't confirm it was a helmet. I was convinced it was the helmet but the kid looked at it and said he wouldn't be able to wear it. Next day, I took it back, explained the situation in that it's not wearable & offerered to exchange it for a wearable one. The manager employee, Augustine, asked for a receipt & id, glanced over the box & claimed the box was opened. I assured him to the contrary but he flatly refused. We went back & forth on the issue for a while with negative result. I resorted to leaving & calling Gamestop corp cs Trish who instructed me to call the store & ask for a district manager's name & contact. I spoke to Augustine who refused. I explained I was instructed by corporate & will need to record this conversation as proof he refused. Augustine then rudely hungup on me. I recontacted corporate, relayed the outcome, asked if they could give me the d.m.'s name but they said they couldn't do it either. C.S. Nancy said she will put in an expidite order but couldn't say who or when or how I'll be recontacted. At this point, I have lost all faith in Gamestop. I compiled with the receipt's policy & feel they will not honor it. I want a full refund for the way I'm being treated. I have contacted the (FTC) Federal Trade Commission, (BBB) Better Business Bureau, & the (OAT) Office of Attorney General. Unbelievable experience here at this store today. I got to the store today between 11-11:30am. I was meeting a potential buyer of my PS4. There were no other customers in there except for me, and the 2 people I was going to complete my transaction with. (check the cameras if you don't believe me.) The woman working there appeared to be latina with dark hair and glasses. I had my PS4 with me and AS I HAVE DONE FOR YEARS with Game Stops all over the Chicagoland area, I asked her to quickly check and show the 2 folks that the Playstation was working so they could purchase from me. I have NEVER had a problem with this until now. She told me, "I'm too busy and have other things to do right now. But I can check if you plan on selling it to us." Again, NO other customers in the store. I told her plenty of other Game Stops have gladly done this for me in the past and she still refused. So me and the other 2 customers proceeded to leave outside the store and stood about 10 feet away from the entrance in the mall. There is NOTHING illegal about me selling MY property to someone else but she made me feel like a criminal. While we're standing OUTSIDE the GameStop store, she then comes around the counter and tries to persuade my potential buyers to come back in and buy a Playstation from them even though these were customers I found and were interested in buying the Playstation from me. I thought she was busy??? So she was able to come and try to take away from what I am trying to do but too busy to test my PlayStation? How did she know I wasn't going to use the money from my sale to buy something in the store? Why are several GameStops doing this but she refused to? She was rude from the start and treated me like I was some thief selling stolen property. Granted, I understand that she is probably taught to encourage customers to do business with them but she literally tried to take a sale away from me on top of being rude and snotty. I have given Gamestop THOUSANDS of dollars but I won't anymore. This is partially why your business is hobbling and will most likely go out bankrupt in the coming months. Some people, including me, question why bother post reviews about a chain... because let's be honest, who cares, right? There are tons of Gamestop locations just like there are tons of Starbucks locations, so what's the point? The reason I am posting this is because I know that Gamestop prides itself on greeting customers and helping them any way they can. So why such a low rating for this particular location? Well, for starters, my boyfriend and I walked in here, and the fricken employees totally ignored us and did not even say, "Hi! How are you?" Umm, I HATE when employees are up your butt during your whole shopping trip, BUT at least say hello... why the hell am I going to buy anything if you cannot even acknowledge my presence? I don't know what is wrong with the employees here, but they seem only want to talk to each other and totally ignore the customers unless customers have a question or are being checked-out. Anyways, I'd rather go to any other location, and this lterally happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I come here, so I cannot even say that it was because the employees were having a bad day. The only positives are that they have a lot of Funko Pops and that this location is conveniently in the Harlem and Irving mall. read more

The employees here a great! I can't knock them one bit. The only problem with the store is it's very small floor place and lack of inventory. Many times I've went there looking for used games, figures and Funko Pop! I've had to go up the street to the GameStop to one on Harlem & Lawrence. Once again the employees are fantastic! I called in earlier today 12/21/21 in order to trade in my Nintendo switch lite. The person I spoke to over the phone said that I didn't bring the AC adapter in with it, so I didn't bring it with me. And when I asked to trade it in they wouldn't take it nor, let me pay for the adapter in ORDER to trade it in. Really shitty customer service. This has got to be the shittiest GameStop I have gone to. There was a ladder in the middle of the store being idle and not used. All I wanted was a god dammed controller. I did not want to hear your bullshit words of what is coming up and what I missed in deals. Can you explain why I would want a warranty for a controller? Had a few questions reserved a game and it was great to find out they do lay way they guy at my first visit was very convincing and got me to put a ps4 on layway. Customer service was really bad when I went to renew my membership they told me it was done. Went back and they said to call customer service because I was not a member and I end up paying full price. I reach out to customer service and the District Manager took care of me and was really helpful. Other than that I do love shopping at game stop but not this one because of what happened. read more

This is by far my favorite Gamestop location. I have always had good, knowledgable and friendly service. In addition, one of the new assistant managers, Kristin, is great. She is friendly and very knowledgeable. And whenever there is a problem she always fixes it. She always makes me feel like a valued customer.
