I bought a used PlayStation 5 controller from this GameStop about two months ago and paid for the protection plan. The controller completely stopped turning on. When I returned to use the plan, the manager claimed there was no record of the controller purchase, even though they had records of everything else I bought that same day. They also forgot to give me the game disc, which I had to pick up later. Instead of honoring the protection plan, they offered me $10 for a $60 controller. In the end, the controller was so unusable I gave it back, and they gave me nothing in return. Came into GameStop with my 9 year old son to trade in some Wii games and his grandpa's old iPad and Apple Watches. The man working there was rude right off the bat. We wouldn't accept the Apple Watches because they didn't have bands and I simply said 'well that seems stupid." he then refused to accept any trade and cursed me out saying he doesn't have time to argue. Truly one of the worst experiences I've had anywhere let alone in front of my 9 year old. Man should be fired, his name was Eric. Don't bother going there. If I could give zero stars, I would. At 4:42pm this afternoon we purchased a brand-new game from the Game Stop on Fairview in Meridian, Idaho. The box on the rack was not in shrink wrap and the box was empty. I asked the employee about the empty box, and he stated they keep the discs behind the counter for theft reasons. He stated it was still brand new and proceeded to pulled the disc out of a box behind the counter. I paid for said item. Was ensured it was brand ne as it was the retail price of $59.99 (which is $5 more than buying it with shrink wrap from Walmart). We chose to shop at Game stop and give business to our local community rather than paying less at a larger retailer. We brought it home, placed it in our PS5, which functions perfectly with all other PS5 games, only to have an error of unreadable disc. We thought no big deal; we will go exchange the brand-new product we bought for the exact same item that works. We called Game Stop and spoke with Jay, the manager (also happened to be the manager of another Game Stop that has closed down in the area) requesting to exchange it for the exact same game in brand new condition, which we felt we deserved since the game was less than 2 hours old. Jay advised that it is corporate policy that no games (even if they are brand new) can be returned or exchanged. Jay claimed this type of situation happens "once in a blue moon". We were then advised that we could sell the game back to them for less than half of what we purchased it for only 2 hours prior. We thought certainly he was wrong; that a corporation as large as Game Stop would not have a policy that essentially steals from their customers. The corporate number was listed on the bottom of the receipt with the discloser of hours being Mon - Sat 8AM - 10PM CT and Sun 8AM - 8PM CT. We knew they would be open as it was only a little after 7PM MST, which would be 8PM CT. These hours are also incorrect. Game Stop corporate has a message on their phone that stated they were closed. If Jay is a manager of a store, representing the GameStop brand, and this is how he treats his customers, Game Stop can ensure they will definitely be losing more and more customers. In my 43 years of life, I have never purchased a brand-new product that was not returnable, if it was not working as it should. Saddest part is, my 11-year-old son used some of his hard-earned chore money to purchase this game so he could play it with his dad. We will certainly post the outcome of this story as we will be calling corporate back first thing in the morning. **Update on this unnecessary headache: Game stop Corporate finally called my husband back after 2 messages and 2 emails left over a weeks timeframe. They ultimately told him to take the game to a different Game Stop location. I took the game to the Game Stop in the mall. The manager there (I missed his name) was absolutely AMAZING. He stated there should have been no reason the original store would not have taken back the defective product and replaced it without any questions. He proceeded to hand me a new game and took the bad one (proper return process of course). We went home, and guess what...it worked! I will be calling back to get the manager's name to give him the proper credit as he well deserves. read more

So I wanna first disclose that the employees are not at fault for any of this, and the associate I spoke with was very well spoken and insightful. I recently decided to upgrade to an Xbox Series X from an Xbox One X. I figured I would return my One X and use what little trade in money I would get from that and put it towards a Series X I was told however, I additionally needed to have an HDMI cable as well as a controller within the package I was returning. The HDMI cable I could understand, but I was never sold a controller with the console, so I found it peculiar that it was a requirement to trade in. Nevertheless I still decided to purchase a Series X. However, the only version of the console they sold were the "Diablo IV Premium Edition" and "Forza Premium Edition". This alone put me about $60 over budget seeing as I have zero interest in either titles. I went with the Diablo IV version. Furthermore, my total (which I was told was $560) suddenly skyrocketed up to $609, and when I checked the chip reader for the charges, I had noticed a $15 1 year subscription to Game Informer. I had asked the associate if this was absolutely necessary, to which he relented and told me I didn't have a choice. The rest of the total went to sales tax. All in all, GameStop in my opinion is quite a rip off. I would have been far better off buying a console anywhere else, and wouldn't have been forced to subscribe to a magazine I could not care less about. Again, the associate was well spoken and was pleasant and doing his job, but unfortunately the company he works for is not very consumer friendly. Side note, that "premium edition" console isn't even decorated or anything - it's just a regular old series x with Diablo IV pre-installed. Pretty lame if you ask me read more

I like GameStop and the employees are always nice, but they are kind of a rip off, with trade ins and I've had a lot of problems with there used gear, controllers and things like that have always had problems. There elite membership is a must if you shop there often, probably the only reason I still go there is because I have the elite membership. read more

My friend went into GameStop to buy a new Xbox headset that he saw online for $120 and could have held for in store for same day pick up. When he got their, the price was $150 for the same headset and was told that they don't honor their online prices for in store pickup even though there are ZERO disclaimer. What company doesn't honor their own online price? Other companies like BestBuy will honor GameStop's online price but their own company won't? It's the most ridiculous policy I've ever heard of. read more

As many waited in the cold with low optimism of obtaining a PS 5 or Xbox for the holidays. Additional individuals found theirselves cutting the line, in which caused unrest. Once brought to the attention of both an employee & store manager (Names can be disclosed later). We were told oh well and that because they were limited on supplies. It's no big deal. The deal was actually big as it prevented two individuals who sat overnight from obtaining it. I do enjoy the store but the actions today, is what led to my review and hope as supplies are restocked later. The associate and manager appeals to the majority and their displeasure in the future and take the correct action. Hopefully this incident doesn't prevent future sales and additional reviews to be made . Cutting is never acceptable. read more

I have been to this location at least 20 or so times in the years that I have lived here. No, I am not a gamer, but I used to kill time here while waiting for a haircut at Sports clips. That's not the case any more. This Gamestop has phenomenal service and the icing on the cake is their selection of Funko POPs. Funko POPs are collectible Bobbleheads or vinyl renderings of classic and often times iconic characters in Movies, TV, and in POP culture. There are regular POPs as well as Exclusives AKA Chase or variant issues. On several occasions this particular location has been either very fortunate or lucky to receive POPs that no other GameStop in the Treasure Valley had. I would call and ask them to hold it for me and they have done that in the past. Their knowledge of games, gaming,and collectibles is superb. Here's a great tip, if you have a gamer in the house who doesn't like to read, they have a gaming magazine subscription that is an excellent value. Check it out! read more

I'm going to address a few concerns made by some grieving customers in a second, but first I'd like to say I honestly have a great experience every time I come here. They always have some kind of sale, some kind of deal, and are stocked up on all games and accessories. Plus the staff are always nice and knowledgable. Now to address a couple reviews. In regards to the review about them being a rip off with trade-ins and having issues with used gear; First of all minor issues with used controllers and what not is not GameStops fault. That is the user prior. It is USED and it is cheap so stop complaining. Second, GameStop doesn't make any money off selling new games. MSRP is about $60 and they buy them for about $55 making about $5 a game. If someone returns the game they don't fetch the money back from the developer and give it to the customer. They take the (now opened) game back and give the customer their own money. Now let me be clear, once the game is opened, there are many issues. First of all it's USED which we all know degrades ANY ITEM in America. Go drive a brand new truck off the lot and try to sell it. It won't be worth what u paid for just minutes before. Second, the game could've been burned and copied. Third, it could be damaged. Now, after GameStop receives the game, they can put it back on their shelves and sell it as a Pre-Owned game for less than the price it is new (thanks to you) which is how they make their money... since they don't make any money off selling new games... you catching on here?
