So I chose it here because of the high Yelp score. I was in the mood to try a new burger and I was right here. What the hell? What I found was a pretty standard Delco bar atmosphere. Not a knock. That's what this is. What I also found was a really friendly staff and a really good burger. They cooked it to my liking. It was juicy. I was really pleased. Don't go in here expecting a "dining" experience. But go here for a good meal with good people serving it to you. read more

Most welcoming bar you can find. Great people, wonderful bartenders, three great pool tables in the basement. Beautiful back outside area if you want to smoke or get some fresh air with your drink. But, the people make this place John Lee, the Billy's, Debra (not big Debra), everyone you meet is kind, trustworthy and make you feel comfortable. My wife left her phone on the bar to go to the bathroom while I was outside, and I knew it was safe. A true American bar where everyone is together. I wish I went more often, but I know when I do go, I will have a Great time. We need more bars like this! My wife loves this place even more than me! I hope that anyone who reads the review by Donna Q ignores it because she obviously has an axe to grind. My wife and I have been customers, no, friends with the Gambol's family for over 15 years. I say friends and family because if you come to Gambol's that is how you will be treated. That goes for staff and customers alike. This place is like Cheers where everybody knows your name. I'd consider this place a bit of a dive but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Food is surprisingly good. Crab soup was good. Also had ravioli which was much better than expected. A bit smoky inside but that goes with the territory. read more

I was in town staying Bynum the PHL airport area, looking for a place to have dinner and found Gambol's on Yelp. Very quant little restaurant and the food was surprising fresh and incredibly good. The burrito and crab soup was incredible. The wait staff was super nice and knowledgable. What more could you ask for? read more

I was really looking forward to enjoying the famous crab cakes at Gambol's. Unfortunately whe we arrived, we saw they were not on the menu!! Our waitress explained that the cook who was famous for the crab cakes had retired earlier this year. Needless to say I was very unhappy. The service was great however the food left a lot to be desired. I told my boyfriend we should have left but we sufferred through a salt laden meal, The atmosphere was okay, great place to watch the game, but the food isn't so good anymore. read more

I am soooooo upset, I was driving by minding my own business. When I saw the sign for crab soup outside gambols. I parked my car ordered my carb soup and a piece of coconut pie. I got home excited about my meal, tasted the soup which was cold, and had a sour taste to it. Then I opened up my pie, I figure you can't go wrong with pie right! Not, they sold me a frozen slice for $2.00 I will never go back to this place again. read more

After reading a full page glowing review in the Delaware County Magazine on Gambols Cafe, my husband and I decided to have dinner there 9/3/2011. I had only had their famous crab soup as take out. The advertisement states there is a tv in each booth, board games, etc. The food is excellent. Crab cakes literally have no filler, all crabmeat. The waitress was so friendly and explained everything to us. Signed us up for the frequent patron card. The one BIG drawback is that they allow smoking and I was unaware of this. We may order take out but will never dine in again. It's not pleasant trying to enjoy your meal and breathing in cigarette smoke. Donna C read more

Comfortable place to go hang out and grab a drink. If you want to go play some games in the basement they've got pool. If you want to watch a game on TV, they have several. Real friendly place. Great customer service and great food. A regulars kind of bar. Kind of wish it would stop allowing smoking for the lingering smell that sticks to clothes. read more

Three of us loved our dinner and the service was good. However, it's a smoking establishment and the odor of stale cigarette smoke made it difficult to enjoy the taste of the food and therefore ruined the experience. If they go non-smoking, it will probably become a favorite place for my friends and me. read more
